We love reading our guest book and reviews. People make lasting memories here, and that means so much to us!

Moo Meadow is family-owned and, until 2020, was solely our family's retreat. For that reason it is very well-appointed, very well-equipped and homey, comfortable and welcoming. Comfortable beds, plush mattress-toppers, top-quality bedding and pillows, atmospheric lighting - all ensure a comfortable stay.

This is a charming, Appalachian-style log cabin with the absolute best views on the mountain. Only 1 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Peaceful, quiet and welcoming- a serene location with beautiful views from the covered back deck of rolling hills, meadows and Buffalo Mountain. The cabin has 2 bedrooms (one ground floor, one loft), a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, full bathroom with shower, washer and dryer.

The cabin is a great location for hikers, fishermen (less than 1/2 mile walk to the stocked Dan River), golfers (Amongst the great nearby courses, The Highland at Primland ranks among the world's best by many notable golf publications), writers or artists seeking a creative retreat, and families or friends just looking for a base to explore the area. There are local wineries, breweries and distilleries. There are also great restaurants, and a Friday night Blue Grass showcase in Floyd (just one of the many charming small mountain-towns nearby). Or, maybe you'll just want to relax in the cabin or take in the views from the covered back deck. If you are like us, once you arrive, your troubles seem to melt away, and you won't want to leave! There are also many very quiet and unspoiled gravel roads, trails and creeks both on the property itself and very close-by to enjoy.

Since 2021, all of the major appliances have been replaced - AC and Heat Unit, Gas-log set, Washer, Dryer, Stove, Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge-Freezer, TV, Home Theater - all high-quality upgrades. The furniture, inside and out, is comfortable and atmospheric. We chose everything here for our own comfort and our guests benefit from our creature-comfort needs! You’ll find everything you need here; DVDs, books and magazines, games and puzzles; all of the high-quality dishware, cookware, and utensils you might need; drip and Keurig coffee makes with gold filters, laundry soaps, food storage (foil, baggies, etc), toilet paper, napkins and paper towels; extra blankets and towels. All you need to bring is food, clothes and toiletries!

Washer and dryer, a/c and heat, whole-house water filter, a rustic living area with gas-log fire, ample seating, flat-screen TV and DVD with home theater, high-speed internet and wi-fi, and beautiful wood floors and wooden blinds throughout. The cabin was built in 2007, is in excellent condition throughout, and contains many locally hand-crafted items of furniture and locally-found bric-a-brac and craft objects.
There is an outdoor Tru Infrared electric grill.

The cabin placement provides privacy, while still being close enough to provide the comfort of neighbors without disturbing your peaceful getaway. Removed, but not remote, secluded but not isolated, this is one of 26 cabins on 20+ acres.

Maximum occupancy is five. The cabin has one king-sized bed, one queen-sized, and one twin-sized bed. Linens are included, and beds are made. A small additional nightly fee applies for bookings with more than 4 guests.

A 10% discount will automatically be applied for bookings of 7 days or more. A 20% discount will automatically be applied for bookings of one month. Maximum length stay is one month.
Parties are not allowed.

**Note added May 1, 2026. Due to the platform's algorithm, it looks like we have a high cancellation rate. We've cancelled one booking in six years, and we cancelled within ten minutes of the booking. This happened because we tried to sync our calendar with another well-known platform, but there is a learning curve, and we messed up.
Because the percentage is calculated based on the previous twelve months, and Nov-March are our slow months, our error makes it seem like we're bad hosts. Please read our reviews. They tell a much better and more accurate story. :)**
We genuinely strive to be the best hosts and the best property you will ever experience.

The cabin was scrupulously clean with an extremely well furnished kitchen. All linens were top quality. The view off the back elevated porch was truly special.

Our number one priority is cleanliness and this cabin met our expectations! Also, the beds were comfortable which is very important. The kitchen was a pleasant surprise: well stocked with lots of sturdy dishes & cutlery and good quality cookware, etc. There were also small thoughtful items you often need like pens & sharpies, scissors & tape, flashlight, bug spray, etc. We were impressed in every way with this clean, quiet property. Hats off to the owners who, by the way, responded immediately to our call for help finding the cabin (we took a wrong turn somewhere but Tristi stayed on the phone and talked us through til we arrived). We would stay at this cabin again!

Clean and very confrontable everything you need for you and your dog. We maintained and in a nice area. Beautiful views from the back deck. Check in through Vrbo was a little slow do to the fact that we were traveling and getting emails reading codes and driving doesn't work. Other than that everything was perfect.

The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked and the view was gorgeous. We will definitely stay there again when we are back in the mountains. Highly recommend this property.

I can't say enough about the peace and quiet i experienced this week. The cabin is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It has been a while since i got such a great night sleep. The shops in Meadows of Dan were quaint and had some neat stuff. If you don't want to drive at night take food with you. They have dang near everything to prepare a meal.I already sent the link to several friends and family recommending this cabin. Tristi was great in communicating with me and made me feel very welcome. Thanks again for a great week.Plenty of outdoor trails, wineries, breweries, Blue Ridge Pkwy, scenic overlooks. Might not be for everyone but the 58 expansion they are doing is impressive. They are moving a lot of earth to make this area more easily accessible.

Well outside anyway, but in Moo Meadows, it was cozy and warm! Second trip was just as magical as my first last year - love the views, the cabin, and the quiet! Everything I needed was there or nearby. It is a little slice of heaven! Thank you for sharing Moo Meadow, definitely a repeat spot for me!

The interior of the cabin was picturesque, the perfect look and feel you would expect in the Virginia hills. However the cabins in the neighborhood were packed together without any trees to give any privacy. The cabin also lacked a fire pit and had only an electric grill. Without these the environment of the cabin as a whole was not what we were looking for. Virginia itself is beautiful and has a wonderful feel to it.

We had a great relaxing weekend at Moo Meadows! The view from the deck was serene, and the deck furniture was quite comfortable. The beds were also very comfortable, and my senior dog especially loved the dog bed provided. I liked that everything was labeled so we didn't have to spend time hunting down where appliances or light switches were. The cabin is full of personal touches which truly made it home away from home. We enjoyed taking a short walk around the property and looking at constellations and the Milky Way at night. Overall, an excellent fall weekend!

We were so happy with our stay at Moo Meadows! Everything was as described, everything was perfectly clean, and everything that you could want to have on hand was there. The owners have gone out of their way to anticipate your every need, and have provided extra supplies and suggestions to make your stay wonderful. Sitting out on the back porch every morning for breakfast/coffee was truly peaceful. (Just what I needed on my vacation.) And enjoying sunsets in the evening were a plus (when we were there). Each day we traveled around the extended area to explore what was available. We EVEN drove up to the southern entrance of Shenandoah National Park to spend the day (about 3.5 hours drive away, but on my bucket list!) My only suggestions to visitors: Depending on the time of year you visit, many of the local and extended local establishments are closed on certain days, or close early. We arrived at about 5:30 to the cabin, but didn't realize we needed to rush into town to find a place to have dinner, or to buy groceries. Locals suggested other places to go that were about 30 minutes away, which was fine! So just be aware of that. And: Lesson learned on my part...Always call ahead to find out if businesses are open! I was depending on Travel websites and biz websites for Open days & Hours, and posted listings were not always correct. One evening we drove to Floyd for dinner, only to find out the whole town closes up on Mon, and most on Tues. But our STAY was WONDERFUL!!
