Beautiful Makanda Cabin in Shawnee National Forest

Rooms were very clean. The firepit and back patio is amazing. Proximity to wineries is great. We had a wonderful time. No WIFI and No cell service did not stop us from a great time.

Beautiful house to stay at. Loved the screen porch and fire pit. Lots of wildlife to see. Close to hiking trails. Would stay here again.

It was great to read a book on the screened in porch with friends. No service means we had a good time playing board games.

The Cabin in the woods was a glorious place to relax and refresh. It was lovely, and the stay was not long enough. The cabin was cozy and comfortable with everything we needed. We enjoyed coffee in the front porch in the mornings and listening to the day begin,

Wow! We loved our stay here!! Our daughters were so pleased to find art supplies and games. We (the adults) were so happy to find a nice clean kitchen with everything needed to prepare a meal. The whole cabin is beautiful and meticulously maintained. The outside spaces are so nice to relax!! Joanne, you’ve really outdone yourself! We will for sure be back again!

We were in town for kiddos graduation at SIU and this property is way better than a hotel. Just 25 minutes or so away from campus and a hop skip and a jump from Blue Sky winery, this hidden gem awaits you. Perfect cabin for a quiet getaway. There were a couple of dips in driveway due to erosion that made it difficult for our low clearance car to get through but we managed and owner was very helpful. Once we got to the log cabin the main entrance was easy to get into, well lit and had a cozy patio for an evening fire. We woke up to birds chirping and tons of wild life frolicking nearby that we watched while sipping on our morning coffee on the deck. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need to cook a meal. Loved the unique kitchen island. We highly recommend this property!

This cabin was everything we were looking for. It was quiet and secluded, no traffic noise at all. The cabin itself was extremely clean, nicely furnished and well maintained. We appreciated the owner's hospitable gestures such as providing charcoal and lighter fluid for the grill. With numerous nearby hiking trails to pick from we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend staying here.

We loved staying at this cabin! It has everything you need. One downside, no WiFi….that being said you will live! Joanne was a great host!

I loved this rental! This quiet getaway was perfect for a private birthday celebration! The lawns were well kept and the house was immaculately clean - I would definitely stay here again! It was also a plus to be so secluded, but still within a decent driving distance from excursions and the grocery store for last-minute items.
