The location was good and the host communicated well. The place was generally what I expected in terms of a historical town home and it’s a good location.Unfortunately the place had a bad smell upon entering that immediately hit you. The linens in the main bedroom were unchanged from the previous guests or stained or both. It had been hot that day and the upstairs was much hotter than the downstairs and there were no fans so no air circulation at all. The 2nd bedroom doesn’t appear to have any vents and so it was really hot and made for a miserable night. In addition the overall cleanliness of the unit was just not what it should be. Areas of the kitchen, stairs, and floors in general were not clean. Upon pointing these things out to the manager the next morning he offered to come clean and put a window AC unit in the bedroom. Plus 100 refund for our trouble. We were more than done with this rental after one night. AC which should been installed before our arrival as they knew it was a problem and that didn’t sit well with us and my wife was grossed out by the lack of cleanliness. We left in the morning and rented a hotel room for our second night. It’s been almost a week since our stay and we haven’t received the refund they promised. I felt like they should refund more than that as I think the cleaning fee alone is more than 100. I guess they decided we were owed nothing.

I was drawn to this listing because of the available covered parking, which was very handy. There isn't a kitchen table, so it's not ideal for eating-in, but there are plenty of restaurants in a walkable range. While the house would fit 4 people easily, since there is only one bathroom, and to reach it, you have to walk through one of the bedrooms, this house would be best for people who are very close with each other. The stairs inside are steep, so this place is best for a younger crowd.

For physically fit folks looking for a cozy spot to sleep, have a morning coffee, or unwind a bit in the evening, this little corner of a classic Lancaster town house is a good option. This old building has very narrow and steep stairs to the two bedrooms and the only bath. The manager was very responsive and readily supplied fans for the upstairs bedrooms (the a/c isn’t strong upstairs).
