Betsea Cottage with Island Views - Welcome to your Wild, Windy Harbour Hideaway.

Windy Harbour, Western Australia, Australia

Nestled on the hillside, Betsea Cottage has sweeping island and ocean views from the verandah, kitchen, lounge and two of the bedrooms. It is a five -minute stroll to the boat ramp and beach. Perfect holiday spot for kids.brbrThe kitchen overlooks the ocean and is well equipped for just boiling an egg or cooking up a storm! The living room has comfy seating and 43cm HD TV, a bookshelf and board games. brbrBetsea Cottage is a bit more upmarket from a simple shack – with two bathrooms and three toilets! The third toilet is located downstairs near the washing machine in the laundry. Key to laundry available on request. The main bedroom and bunk room even have ocean views! There is a solar power system, instantaneous gas hot water system, gas stove and heater. It is very important to be conscious of the solar power and minimise the use of power hungry devices. Heating appliances such as hairdryers, straighteners, irons and toasters must not be used as they drain too much energy in a short amount of time. All linen (except beach towels) is supplied. This includes sheets, pillowcases, blankets, towels, bathmats, face-washers, tea-towels and handtowels. Bring a Telstra phone or SIM card as only a Telstra tower here. brThere are fabulous beach walks with dramatic coastal scenery where you can walk along a marked trail to Cathedral Rock and feel the white sand between your toes as you return along the beach.brThe swimming is very safe and the rocks are fun to climb on. The kids will love the freedom to explore, build sandcastles, fly a kite, kick the footy and play in the well-equipped playground.brIt is about an hour away to the majestic Karri forests and wineries of Northcliffe, Pemberton and Manjimup so makes for a perfect base for day trips to popular tourist destinations.brThe caretaker, by the caravan park, sells only a few basic items so it is best to bring all your toiletries, food and groceries with you. The closest stores are Northcliffe (27km) and Pemberton (50km)brbrThe weather can be quite cool and maybe windy so bring clothes for all seasons. If it is raining and cold outside you can marvel at the waves breaking over Sandy Island and when it is fine you can enjoy the bush and beach walks. Head over to Salmon Beach for good fishing, too. Also, you can launch your boat and head out to enjoy some serious fishing.brbrWindy Harbour, is in the D Entrecasteaux National Park and is your perfect place to enjoy some peace and tranquillity. From the casual comfort of indoors you can marvel at the magnificent Great Southern Ocean as waves crash around nearby Sandy Island. It makes you feel a part of nature. brbrHow to find Betsea Cottage: Drive 27km south from Northcliffe down towards Windy Harbour. Continue to left on the sealed road and veer right to keep the campground and the playground on your right. Go straight through at the sign saying Local Traffic Only. No Through Road. Turn left at the driveway after the second house with a pink door on the left. There is a big Norfolk Island pine tree at the driveway. Betsea Cottage is the big cream house on the right with a ramp leading up to the balcony. You can park anywhere to the right of the ramp. The key to the house is in a locked box and the location and code will be texted to you before your arrival.

Windy Harbour - Sheerwater

Windy Harbour, Western Australia, Australia

Sheerwater was originally a small holiday shack built in the 1950s. Since then it has been partially renovated and extended over the years to become a cosy 3 bedroom family holiday cottage with stunning ocean views. It is powered by a small solar system with a brand new 450Lt fridge/freezer, new gas stove, gas hot water and gas heater. Unfortunately due to only a small solar system there is no microwave or washing machine, however a laundromat is available in Northcliffe at the community Centre on Zamia Street. brbrIt is fully self-contained with all crockery, cutlery, toaster, French press for coffee, pots and pans etc and a couple of wind-up torches for kangaroo spots for the kids. brbrWe DON'T PROVIDE LINEN only pillows and doonas. It also has a smart TV (sorry no internet only if you have a Telstra phone and good data) and DVD player, a selection of DVDs, loads of books, magazines and board games. The roadside balcony houses a gas barbecue and outdoor seating. For safety of small children the balcony has a lockable gate. Mosquitos are around in the evenings, being close to the ocean, some mosquito coils are available. The peppermint trees do attract bees in the spring and early summer season. brbrEven in the winter it's great being warm and snug in this cosy cottage watching the waves rise and fall. Just start by closing off the bedrooms crank the heater up to four bars and turn on the heater fan switch, after a short time you will want to open the bedroom doors as it gets really warm. Unfortunately the bedrooms don’t have their own heating. brbrThings To DObrbrWindy Harbour is a sleepy coastal holiday settlement that becomes a busy little fishing port at Easter time and during school holidays or when ever the weather is good for boating. brbrNote: If you are a light sleeper you might need ear plugs for a sleep-in as the keen fishermen and women with boats go out on day break and the tractors used to tow the boats can get noisy! brbrWindy Harbour is a short distance from the Pemberton wine region and the beautiful karri forests for which the South West is famous. brbrStroll along the beach, past nature's spa up to Cathedral Rock, continue up the cliffs to view The Window, a great place to watch the sunset over the ocean. A little further around is the lighthouse and another seat to just sit, rest and take in the beautiful view. Even in summer though you may need a jumper as the place isn't called Windy Harbour for nothing!brbrThere are many walk trails, scenic spots and 4WD trails in the area and of course the fishing so many come for. The surfers also enjoy the waves at Salmon Beach.brbrExtra InformationbrbrNextG mobile phone reception is now available within the settlement.brbrThe new Northcliffe Visitors Centre is full of great ideas on things to do and places to go within the area.
