Bohemian seafront house in Monte Argentario

Porto Santo Stefano, Toscana, Italy

Seafront residence with garden and direct sea access in a secluded and exclusive part of Monte Argentario, southern Tuscany. Surrounded sea and nature, this four-bedroom apartment nestled between Cannelle beach and Isola Rossa is very bohemian, full of antique furniture and asian statues. There are daybeds scattered in various in various parts of the garden so you can relax, read or rest surrounded by nature. The house even has an outdoor bathroom to shower while enjoying the sea view.brA central feature of this property is that it has direct sea access through a private footpath, so you only need to walk 200 meters and some 20 steps to reach the water. The bay in front of the house has flat rocks that create little pools particularly fun for little kids. In the summer months (mid-June to early September) this house give you entry privileges to the Cannelle beach club which is in the adjacent bay, only a 15 minute walk or 5-minute drive away from the house. The Cannelle beach club has a beautiful and immense pool (you pay a daily rate) and a members-only poolside restaurant. There is also another public cafe' and casual restaurant at the Cannelle pebble beach, where we also keep two sun-beds you can use for free. brThis place is great for nature lovers, groups of friends and family holidays. It is not suitable for elderly or people with mobility problems because they might find a little too challenging walking on the seaside rocks or accessing the sea from the pebble beach (but they can still enjoy the pool).brbrInteriors:brThe sleeping area consists of four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The large master bedroom features a king size bed with ensuite bathroom with large shower. The other three bedrooms are: one with queen-size bed, another with single bed that can be pulled out to become a queen size, and a third with twin beds (they cannot be moved). This last room is a second living space with television and games, however it closes completely if you pull the wooden doors (so it can be totally private if you wish). These three rooms all share one large bathroom, but there is another stunning outdoor bathroom in the garden with toilet, sink and shower. All beds have lattice mattresses and lovely feather or memory foam cushions. The spacious living room is under a lovely portico that has glass screens with a breathtaking view overlooking the bay. The indoor dining area opens onto this area. The kitchen is fully equipped. brbrExteriors:brThe gardens of this house are spacious and consists of three main levels. On the ground level, in front of the property, there is a large lawn where you will find an outdoor sitting area and a dining table that sits comfortable 8 people under a portico. There are also two four-poster daybeds for wonderful siestas. Beyond a little gate and overlooking the sea on the edge of the garden there is a wooden deck with sun-beds and an outdoor bathroom with hot water surrounded by nature. Here you can take a shower after coming up from the sea. The lower part of the garden is under the trees where there is another carved wooden daybed. From this area from this area you continue down along a small path towards the sea. Note that the house is surrounded by nature which also means wild animals from time to time. We have an electric devise that keeps them away from the top part of the garden closest to the house, but if you walk down to the sea or drive along the road in the middle of the night you could encounter some animals, including wild boars which are native to this area. brbrLocationbrThe house is in a secluded area of the Monte Argentario, called Cannelle, and overlooks a landmark tiny island called Isola Rossa. On the horizon you can also see Giglio island and some days even Corsica. The Cannelle is a bay were there are about 50 villas and a beach club with cafe' and restaurant in the summer months. It is a great place to swim and relax. The water is crystal clear. Most of the coast here is smooth rock, but Cannelle also has a beach of pebble stones. If you like walking there are lots of hiking trails so this area is also pleasant in spring and autumn. The closet town is Porto Santo Stefano, a 15 minute drive along a beautiful panoramic road. This is where you do your shopping, rent boats or catch a ferry to Giglio or Giannutri islands. Rarely there is even a private charter to visit the legendary island of Montecristo, but you must book months in advance. brbrPrivacy: brThis house is part of a huge private villa called 'La Cornovaglia’ that has been divided into six luxury apartments each with their own private outdoor space. Although this property is very spacious you do have neighbours to respect. brbr

You drive along the stretch of the Argentario coast overlooking the open sea. Besides the beauty of the natural landscape, you can admire the remains of several towers built in the period of Spanish Garrisons.brbrThere are many points where you can stop to take pictures of the places that you will be hard to forget. Details on the road Overview of Porto Santo Stefano.brbrFrom pay close attention to the maritime prize which takes place on August 15 in Porto Santo Stefano, partly visible also from the terrace of the house to avoid the crowds that flock to all the neighboring countries.brbrHistory of the Palio:brbrSince 1937 she runs in Porto S. Stephen the Palio Marinaro. It is a race that puts competing four boats, four rowers and helmsman, representing the four town neighborhoods: CROSS, FORTRESS, Pilarella (District of belonging of the villa) and VALLEY. The sea, the colors of the cape, the hard life of fishermen and sailors, the expectations and hopes of those who remain waiting for them on the shore, are well represented by the effort of the four crews and choral participation of the inhabitants of the districts.brbrThe race has very ancient origins. It is said that the same is the re-enactment of the pursuit of a felucca barbaresca to a boat of local fishermen who escaped capture thanks to their skill in vogue. But this is a legend, which by the way, does little tribute to the courage of Santostefanesi. It is quite likely that the origins are many other, back to the time of the Deans and Queen of Spain, whose Promontory was part. To endorse this view, they combine the designs of Ignazio Fabbroni, Santo Stefano Cavaliere that sailed the galleys of the Tuscan team to hunt pirates. The Fabbroni, during his work, he was able to portray the appearance of Porto S. Stephen, in the years 1664 to 1667 and in one of his paintings, on the calm water of the turquoise bay, there are four rowing boat with coxswain and four rowers who seem to have engaged in a race to achieve under the edge of the great ships anchored at wheel.brbrThe Palio can not even descend from this coming and going by dint of rowing between the mainland and ships, to embark sailors, soldiers, officers, water, weapons, goods. A oarsmen practicing coastal fishing, rowing sailing ships were pulled when they remain becalmed. The transition from the working phase to phase play is automatic and natural for many human activities and also for rowing is tripped the same mechanism. The four men who first came to the ground at one time were not satisfied with most of the look satisfied with the master, but sought the admiration of the girls of the village and in the days of party challenged the other rowers. He was born the Palio. He was called so quickly. There was talk of spears racing, Guzzi and tartaroni, until 1937 when the municipality of Monte Argentario took on the organization of the race, dictating the rules and regulations of what was called WIN MARINARO DELL'ARGENTARIO.brbrThe guzzi with which it takes place the grabs are exposed as early as 20 days before the stake itself, to be admired.brbrArriving by car, since the descent that leads to the village, you can enjoy a fine view of Porto Santo Stefano. The first thing that you will encounter will be the shipyard, where the carpenters refurbish of authentic jewels of the sea. Along the cross sea around the harbor of Valle with sailings to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, pleasure boats and the fleet; if you arrive in the afternoon there may happen to witness the fresh fish landings.brbrOnce the port begins the beautiful Promenade of the Navigators, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, which leads you to the small port of Pilarella. However before you can go across the street and visit the Aquarium, in which the typical marine environment is rebuilt.brbrTake back now Promenade, where the many benches facing the sea, allowing you to take a break while enjoying the spectacle of the Gulf of Argentario that looks towards Talamone. At the End of the promenade you will arrive in Piazza dei Rioni that overlooks the harbor, we call it the living room of Porto Santo Stefano. A must stop in the many bars and restaurants with terrace overlooking the sea at any time of day, from breakfast to after dinner all'apertivo, the relaxed atmosphere of this place gives you some really nice moments. In summer you will have fun also to observe the local children diving repeatedly in the waters of this small port.brbrAfter recuperating, go back through the charming alleys and stairways of the old town, to reach the Spanish Fortress. The climb is not long but very steep, so we do not recommend to deal with it during the hottest hours of the day. We anticipate that the view is worth admiring, alone, a visit to this place, is about 300-400 m from the villa connected by a flat road.brbrRoute OverviewbrbrThis road will give you a succession of breathtaking landscapes. You drive along the stretch of the Argentario coast overlooking the open sea. Besides the beauty of the natural landscape, you can admire the remains of several towers built in the period of Spanish Garrisons.brbrThere are many points where you can stop to take pictures of the places that you will be hard to forget.brbrThe pierbrbrThe little beach Moletto is located in Porto Santo Stefano, on the left of the marina Pilarella. It is very easy to reach on foot and is also accessible for the handicapped. The beach is small, but the beach club is not that great. There is also a bar and restaurant right on the seashore. In summer in the waters of this beach is set up a golf polo. It is located 300 m from the villa.brbrThe covebrbrBeach eponymous hotel which is right behind him. Even the cove is located in the town of Porto Santo Stefano and is easily accessible for everyone. Here you will find the bar, the beach club, a restaurant with terrace overlooking the sea, and also a diving center with guides for observation of seahorses. The seabed is immediately deep (ideal for relaxing swims), however an artificial recess allows even smaller splashing in all tranquility. SI located at 250-300 m from the villa.brbrThe GiannellabrbrThe Giannella is the pillow north of the Argentario, you see on the right a few kilometers before arriving in Porto Santo Stefano. It is a sandy beach about 8 km, with beach facilities, free beach, bars and restaurants by the sea. The sea slopes down very gently and therefore makes this very suitable for small children Beach. To access the beach you can just go in the bush pillow to meet with several access points. This beach is well suited for sailing sports. Finally, remember that behind the beach is a pine forest which covers almost the entire length in Tombolo.brbrPozzarellobrbrThe Pozzarello has its beach made of small pebbles and sand, is located below the traveling road. Access is located in several places easy to identify and it is also suitable for disabled people. There is a beach bar and restaurant but most of the beach is free. This is a very quiet and suitable place to relax, also when there is sirocco wind, the sea is very clear and calm as a table.brbrCala GrandebrbrYou can admire the panoramic road, when after a curve will appear in all its beauty. It has to stop with photos for all the tourists who pass by this road. Being sheltered from many winds is also the busiest falls from boats. The access to the identified on the right in the middle of a long straight where a path descends quite steeply. Laciate the car along the scenic route, get off and walk along the path for about 500 meters. After the first 100 meters the path along what was an ancient ditch said Cauto, then pass through a green beautiful stain composed of tall oaks, and slowly, between the branches of the trees, you will see the clear waters of this cove . The route is not very challenging, however it is not suitable for elderly and very young children. There are three beaches in this bay and consist of pebbles. The bottom is beautiful, so great for snorkeling and relaxing swims.
