The Royal Mile is best accessed by the frequent bus service as parking is a nightmare in Edinburgh. You have the advantage of a quiet location but the advantage of being in a central location. Good for getting a good nights sleep and avoiding the noise of the tourist areas. brThere are two parks nearby that are child friendly. One is less than a minutes walk. There are beautiful walks along the canal less than two minutes walk. Wonderful in the morning sun or at night. There is also a canal boat café to have a coffee. There is a great little coffee shop to have breakfast called the Piece Box. up by Polwarth Gardens by the mini roundabout.brbrChildrenbrI have children myself and they are welcome although it would be best to bring a travel cot for the young. It is safe for them. brbrHotwater and heating.brThe water heats up overnight to ensure hot water in the morning and the following day. An electric shower provides constant water.
