Private escape in the middle of the city! Just steps off the historic St. Charles Avenue & Streetcar line, this Garden District home provides an oasis, while set central to everything you'll want to see and do in New Orleans. The property is securely fenced and gated, and offers your own exclusive private, electric iron gated driveway. Your yard (not shared with anyone) is fully fenced with 6ft+ fences 360 degrees, and is a perfect place for your pup to play safely as you watch from your comfortable, tropical, original New Orleans brick patio. brbrMost of our guests don't even use their cars, with plenty of sites and amenities in walking distance, and with the Streetcar adding reach for miles in each direction. Restaurants, bars & markets begin a block away.brbrThe house offers a living room, kitchen, laundry room with full W/D, single bath, one downstairs bedroom with queen bed and a Roku TV, fan, and darkened blinds, a large upstairs bedroom with a queen bed, a large day bed, a fan, and an extra air conditioner for individualized comfort in the loft. The living room is not a large space, but boasts plenty of sofa space with loungers, and a small table with office chair. There is no dining room, but the large outdoor living area includes a 6-person dining table with umbrella, and tropical ambiance. brbrYou host lives in a separate unit in the front of the house. There are just two units total, yours and mine. You will never share space with anyone. My default is to leave guests to their own space, and we may not cross paths at all. But I will always be available should you need anything, and am always delighted to meet guests, should they wish. brbrNOTE for legal reasons, you MUST make the reservation for the total number of people spending the night, regardless of whether they are traveling with you or meeting you here. brbrPlease message host FIRST regarding dogs you wish to bring (limit 2). Please read the House Rules for details on dog policies. Please do not bring a puppy to the house.brbrTHE BEDROOMS: brbrUp to 4 guests have access to (1) the upstairs loft bedroom and (2) one downstairs bedroom. brbrEach bedroom has a very comfortable queen pillowtop bed, and the loft also has a large daybed.brbrOTHER FEATURES: brbrThe house has central heat and chilly central A/C, and there is an extra window unit in the loft for individualized comfort upstairs. The house also offers 3 stand-alone fans, and a ceiling fan. brbrThere is a small, full kitchen stocked with essentials and a laundry room with W/D, detergent, dryer sheets, and an iron with full ironing board. brbrOutside, a gated walkway opens onto your private, fully fenced yard. There is a dining table with chairs, gliding bench, umbrella, etc. It's a private space invisible from the street and a great place to have your morning coffee, plan your day, or wind down with some wine at the end of the night.brbrDue to the historic age of the home, the property does not qualify as ADA accessible. It is necessary to climb stairs to enter the property, and the doorways are not of sufficient width for wheelchair access. Enter through your driveway, or gate, and pass the front patio into your own gated walkway to your door and attached yard. Downstairs unit is also available for rental use.brbrGuest accessbrThe guest will have access to the entire house.brbrOther things to notebrBased on insight and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), here are some Cleaning Guidelines we are following between guests to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.brbr1. Wear protective gear while you clean. Personal protective items like disposable gloves, aprons or gowns, and facial coverings (like homemade or purchased masks) can provide additional protection. Make sure to wash your hands immediately after removing gloves.brbr2. Ventilate rooms before you clean. The CDC recommends opening outside doors and windows and using ventilating fans to increase air circulation in the space before beginning to clean and disinfect. Learn more about how to properly ventilate before cleaning from the CDC.brbr3. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after each cleaning. Use soap and water, and wash for at least 20 seconds. If that’s not possible, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Learn more about proper hand washingbrbr4. Clean, then disinfect. Use detergent or soap and water to remove dirt, grease, dust, and germs. Once the surface is clean, spray with a disinfectant. Let it stand for a few minutes, then wipe—and if you’re not using paper towels or disposable wipes, it’s best to use a new cleaning cloth for each guest.brbr5. Avoid touching your face while cleaning. To prevent the spread of germs, the CDC recommends not touching your face, nose, and eyes with unwashed hands—so pay extra attention when cleaning.brbr6. Use the right disinfectant. Most common household disinfectants registered by the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as cleaning solutions with diluted household bleach or at least 70% alcohol, are believed to be effective against the coronavirus. Pay special attention to frequently touched surfaces, like light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, and faucet handles. (See our full list of surfaces to disinfect at the bottom of the page.)brbr7. Don’t forget about sofas, rugs, drapes, and other soft, porous surfaces. Carefully remove any visible dirt or grime, then clean with the appropriate cleaners indicated for use on these surfaces. If possible, machine-wash items according to the manufacturer’s instructions.brbr8. Wash all linens at the highest heat setting recommended by the manufacturer. That includes bed sheets, mattress covers, hand and bath towels, kitchen towels, and blankets. Remember to wear gloves when handling dirty laundry, and take care to avoid shaking laundry, which could increase the spread of germs.brbr9. Clean and disinfect laundry baskets and hampers. If possible, consider using a liner that is either disposable or that you can throw into the washing machine.brbr10. Empty the vacuum cleaner after every cleaning. You should wipe down the vacuum cleaner with disinfectant, along with appliances like your dishwasher and washing machine.brbr11. While restocking your supplies, take a moment to check expiration dates. And remember to never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleaning solution that can release toxic gases that are dangerous to inhale.brbr12. Line trash cans. Placing bags into trash bins will make it easier to dispose of tissues and other waste.brbr13. Dispose of or wash your cleaning supplies. If you’re using paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and other disposable cleaning supplies, take the trash out after you’re done. If you’re using cleaning cloths and other reusable products, make sure to machine-wash them at the highest heat setting appropriate for the material.brbr14. Safely remove any cleaning gear. When you’re done cleaning, immediately remove any protective outerwear like gowns, gloves, or masks, and dispose of them or wash accordingly.
