Very nice and well maintained complex built around the 70's with easy access to LGMC, university, local sporting events, concerts, local parks as well as downtown and the many festivals held around Acadiana. It is an attractive alternative for all who seek a private and peaceful location instead of the usual hotel or chain style unit. Condo is located on the backside of complex with private entrance to complex pool and is a very quiet unit. It has a rear access road for ease of entrance and exit, nearby neighborhood grocery, drug store and several highly rated local restaurants make this a very desirable location with keyless access to unit! Wireless internet provided with a 43 flat screen TV in living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and front loading washer and dryer in the unit. This is a perfect unit for business travelers, small families or a weekend getaway for friends and couples. We have two units in same building directly above each other for larger groups. This hone sits on 1.7 acres, has a welcoming front porch, sprawling lawn, patio space, Limestone fire pit area, and spacious grounds behind it’s 3/1 guest cottage (also separately rentable). Front entry parlor space has two comfortable love seats opens to the adjacent living area with baby grand piano and sitting area with Smart TV in a mirrored armoire. Both the front parlor and front living room are connected with double 9 ft original cypress panel pocket doors. The front living area opens to a formal dining room through pocket doors and provides seating for up to 10-12. The walls are covered in caramel silk wallpaper which was hand-painted in a chinoiserie style with beautiful landscapes and intricate birds throughout.. Off the formal dining area is a small soapstone-countered China /crystal storage pass -thru which opens through a swing service door onto butler pantry which features carrera counters, a large sink, dishwasher, French door refrigerator w/freezer. ,double convection wall ovens and warming/proofing drawer. Pocket doors here remain open to laundry area with front loading washer/dryer/ storage/small hanging closet. Large updated kitchen featuring carrera marble Countertops and oversized island with seating for four, 48 inch dual-fuel 6 burner range with griddle, 2 dishwashers, “sonic” ice machine, 2 beverage fridges, Built in all fridge and all freezer (in adjacent closet), microwave. Kitchen space opens to a spacious den with ample sofas/club chairs seating , a wood-burning fireplace and extra large Smart TV. Adjacent to den is a pecky cypress-walled casual eating space for up to 8 people featuring a round table with a removable custom “lazy susan “. Also has Snart TV and can double as a poker room! This room was the home’s original kitchen and features a wall of Continual custom cypress butler cabinetry original to the home. Connecting these spaces is a hallway with a half-bath, rear entry hall and light-filled home office space with wireless laser printer. Featuring an ample under stairwell storage closet, the stairwell in front room features a landing with an oversized window seat. Second floor fabric-covered hallway with original light fixtures opens onto 4 bedrooms. There is a master suite with king size bed and private bathroom with a separate bath, shower and toilet closet Across the hall is a second bedroom with Full-sized Bed and private full bath . There are two additional bedrooms which share a hallway bath featuring a claw foot tub/shower with curtain. One of these bedrooms has a full-sized bed four-poster bed. The fourth has a king size bed as well as an antique caned daybed for extra sleeping space if needed . All bedrooms have mantles and original coal burning fireplaces which are no longer in use. The third floor is a fully carpeted bonus room space that was previously a walk-in attic . It features ample den space with a sofa and two oversized bean bags, large screen smart tv with gaming devices, electronic full-sized air hockey table, gym-quality Tectrix brand stairmaster, “kitchen” corner with microwave, sink and beverage fridge, full bath, and an under TV cabinet area which hides away 5 memory foam beds which may be pulled out as needed for group sleepovers. The two oversized Corduroy brand beanbags each contain a foam filled full-sized bed bag. All Bedding/pillows are provided and stored conveniently in adjacent cabinetry. Plenty of toys, board games and books for kids of all ages are stored iin cabinets around the large room. Patio space off of den has ample seating , propane fuel fire table/coffee table , dining table for 6 , XL Big Green Egg Ceramic Grill, and a separate crushed limestone wood fire pit w/ seating for 8. Outdoor ping pong table and basketball goal are adjacent to house and covered parking. This special compound is a great location for a unique get-away for family travel or for work groups. Our outdoor compound has plenty of space to enjoy the huge deck, fire pit, frisby golf, outdoor grill, picnic areas ---as well as relaxing in our unique treehouse. brbrThen go inside to enjoy the home's open floor plan with a central area for living, dining and cooking. Big screen TV with Netflix and a few local channels. Super-fast internet throughout the property. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for your group. Of course this is South Louisiana and we love feeding folks. We have everything you need to cook and serve a feast for 12 people. brbrThe coffee bar has both a big coffee pot and a Keurig. We anticipate that folks from your group will want to drink coffee and listen to the birds in the morning…sit on the deck or go up in the tree! We have a dozen wine glasses and a collection of Nostalgia Records for a relaxing evening indoors or out.brbrThe open floor plan with kitchen, dining and lounge provide a central gathering area. Upscale appliances include a full size gas range and oven, microwave, side by side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. Our well equipped kitchen has cooking and serving capacity for 12 people. Multiple outdoor dining and lounge areas are on the deck and ground level. Guest love the outdoor kitchen area, grill and sink. brbrEach bedroom has a desk or laptop bar workstation. Working from home is quiet and productive. The outdoor spaces also allow for lots of privacy for phone calls and work on laptops because we have super-fast internet connections throughout the property. Our mild Louisiana weather allows us to enjoy the outdoor living areas almost all year long! Two of our bedrooms have access to decks. Lots of privacy for everyone!brbrThe three large comfortable bedrooms offer great flexibility . Each room features a blend of antiques and contemporary furnishings. We hope you love the art and mood lighting in each bedroom. We hope you will enjoy the special features!brbrThe West wing has a Private Suite with a queen bed , TV and its own spa bathroom. This wing has a door that separates it from the rest of the house, as well as an exit to the deck. The suite has a desk and plenty of room for work-related projects. brbrIn the south wing of the house, we have two bedrooms. Our Reflection Bedroom has an oriental theme, a queen bed, desk, office chair and dressing area.br brThe Remember Bedroom is our largest room with its own outdoor porch area and small yard. It has rich antiques, a queen bed and a trundle bed that sleeps two people. The desk and office chair make it great for working adults. The other amenities make it a quick set up as the “kids room”. This room has a closet where we store the 2 floor beds, the port-a-crib and toddler bed. This very flexible room allows guests to configure sleeping for 8 adults or for a combination of adults and children. brbrIn total, there are 3 queen beds, 2 single beds, (trundle bed) 1 fold-out sofa (in the living room) and 1 fold-out foam bed. (in the closet), totaling 7 beds + a crib + toddler bed.. Maximum sleeping capacity is 8 adults. Even when you add in children, everyone will have a comfy place to sleep.brbrWe are perfect for family groups and allow you to have up to 8 local guests come for a family gathering during the day (9am-9PM) Please contact us to make a request prior to booking if you want to schedule daytime guests.brbrWe often host work groups and want to specify that construction work groups can have no more than 8 adults. For an additional charge we provide weekly cleaning for work groups who book for more than a week. Please discuss with the Host prior to booking a work crew. We have parking for larger vehicles and work trucks. Please let us know your specific work group needs. brbrOur high speed internet can accommodate multiple users. Our room arrangement allows for private work stations.brbrSome guests have called our property an urban oasis. We are in an older section of Lafayette that has a blend of residential, commercial and industrial occupants. The property has fencing and landscape that makes it feel separated from other properties and activities. It feels like a private retreat for our guests. The neighborhood is not a typical suburban neighborhood. brbrThe home is spacious, clean and comfortable, but not so fancy that you have to worry about normal family or workgroup activities. We own 2 adjacent properties and our family likes living and working in this neighborhood. If you need housing for a larger group, check out renting our two additional guesthouses: Elegant Gourmet Guesthouse and The Cameron.brbrWe have parking for 4 guest vehicles. in our well-lighted off-street area. We can also accommodate oversize trucks and trailers in our adjacent private parking lot.brbrOur treehouse recreation area is actually a covered deck build with a tree in the middle! Because of elevation of the Treehouse, there are some safety precautions that you will need to monitor. No one is to climb in the tree or to sleep in the Treehouse. Children 15 and under need to be accompanied by an adult when visiting the Treehouse. There are areas marked as private that are restricted from use by guests. The person who makes the booking will need to walk the property and the Treehouse to give an orientation to the children and other guests about safety issues. brbrWe do allow guests to bring one or two dogs and we charge an additional cleaning fee of $50. Please contact us prior to booking and give me the breed, age and weight of your dog. Dogs are not allowed on the beds or sofas. Please bring two covers for the sofa, and a dog bed. Please bring a crate if you intend to leave your dog home alone. The yard has fences, but they may not securely keep a pet in the yard without supervision. Pease scoop poop, etc and help us prepare for our next guests. Please feed your dog outside.brbrWe are able to accommodate guests with some mobility issues. There are three steps with a handrail from the parking lot to the deck. The hall bathroom has a barrier free entrance to the shower. Hallways and bedrooms accommodate a wheelchair or walker. There is one bathroom with a tankless hot water heater allowing for infinite hot water. Visiting the Birdhouse has a bit of nostalgia with all the modern amenities--- and lots of fun. Guests report that sharing one bathroom is not a problem. Each bedroom has a dressing area with a mirror and a place to hang towels.brbrGuest have access to the entire home., front & rear gardens and off street parking for 4 cars. The circular driveway is an elegant entry with a seating area & herb/vegetable garden. The fenced back yard has a rear deck & dining area off the kitchen overlooking the backyard. In addition, we have a fenced dog yard, The back yard has a privacy fence. This wonderful space can be your home away from home for as long as you need it for work or play.brbrWe are able to accommodate groups who want privacy as well as workers who need to sleep in the daytime. Please let us know your special needs. brbrAll of our parking is off-street. The parking area is sufficiently large to accommodate moving vans and utility trailers. The Host, who lives at the rear of the property, is in a separate building and has a separate entrance and fenced yard. We are not likely to see each other unless you need assistance. You can walk to Heymann park on the Vermillion River. The park has huge moss draped trees and a children's playground, nature walk, as well as frisbee golf, tennis & basketball courts.brbrLocated one block from Pinhook Road and 4 blocks to Jefferson Street. Easy access to I-10, I-49 and at the Breaux Bridge Highway. We are served by the Lafayette public transportation as well as Uber.
