Beautiful Cottage by the Coast

VENTNOR, VENTNOR, United Kingdom

FERRY DISCOUNTS WITH ALL BOOKINGS Charming, spacious, sunny and warm, welcome to our lovely character cottage in the countryside. Nestled in the Isle of Wight's famous southern coastline with great access to the coastal walks and stunning local scenery. Me and my family love this cottage, we bought it as a renovation project about 10 years ago and it was our family home but since moving away we now use it as our holiday home as well as letting it to guests. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do, we love the sounds of the wildlife in the sunny south facing garden and the peaceful feel of the location, as well as the cosy nights in front of the wood burners in the winter. As its our holiday home its incredibly well equipped and has a lovely homely feel, you will find a fair amount of hand made furniture and items from around the world that we have collected from our travels. Nestled in the Islands Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), its a great location. On the doorstep is the renowned Pepperpot trail (see photos) and the coast path for cliff top walks with stunning views, and nowhere is far for exploring the island by car. For cosy days in there is a 50 4K Smart TV with Netflix to snuggle up in front of the woodburner and binge your favourite shows. The landscaped back garden is a south facing sun trap. There is a bbq and dining table etc on the first tier, kids play area with tube slide and a big nest swing on the second tier. Perfect for kicking back with a glass of wine while the kids wear themselves out :) We get lots of wild visitors in the garden, I've seen red squirrels, badgers, bunnies, pheasants, woodpecker, buzzards and many other creatures. Chale is also a national 'Dark Skies' area, so the stars at night are a sight to behold. The house has 3 Bedrooms, 2 large rooms with King Size beds with comfy Silentnight mattresses and 1 kids room which has handmade built in bunk beds featuring driftwood from the local beach. These are full size single beds with memory foam toppers for a comfy nights sleep and black out blinds on all the windows helps early sleepers. Additional sleeping for 2 can be found in the sun lounge which looks onto the garden, on an Ikea day bed which transforms into a double. All beds except the day bed and travel cot include bedding and will be made up on your arrival. The day bed has bedding for guest use in its drawers. You will have the whole house to yourself, including the garden. Guests can enter by typing a code into the keypad we have on the front door. I will give details when booking is finalised. I'm not local to the house but I am available on the phone 24/7 if needs be and happy to give any help or advice that will help guests have the best possible holiday. Chale is a stunning little village on the coast, around the corner from Blackgang Chine. Incredible scenery surrounds the cottage in all directions. Just around the corner is The Wight Mouse, a very well known pub/restaurant with excellent food and views all down the coast. The house is about a 30 min drive from the Fishbourne ferry, or a 20 minute drive from the Yarmouth Ferry port. The house is in a rural location with the nearest town (Ventnor) being a 15 min drive away and the nearest shop a 4 minute drive. We would recommend having a car for this location and to explore the island but for those using public transport there is a bus stop just around the corner by the church which runs every hour until 6pm. Time tables can be found on the Southern Vectis website. There is a parking space in a lay-by across the road which belongs to us. This is for guest use but please bear in mind you will need to cross the road to enter the house. Ours is the layby directly opposite the house, there is space for several cars.
