The Nook • Vintage Flat Near Wrigley

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Summary:brbrThe location literally can't be beat, with the apartment a short walk from Wrigley Field, the bustling Southport shopping corridor, and both the red line and brown line subway stations. It's also close to all of the 'Boystown' nightlife.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrI've used my years of experience as a superhost and designer to set up this unique flat so that it includes all the comforts of home while embracing the quirky charm that only a vintage building can offer. brbrbrbrA couple of friendly but important notes about my flat:brbrbrbr1) Because my flat is located in a 100+ year-old urban building on the ground floor, you may occasionally find an errant cobweb or two, in spite of my hardworking staff's best efforts. They clean the flat several times a week but you may still see the work of an enterprising critter pop up during your stay. brbrbrbr2) Please also note that because the building is vintage, you will hear some noise from my neighbors and occasionally from passersby. Also, the building entrance is located next to the apartment door, so there will be some noise when my neighbors enter and exit the building.brbrbrbr⚪ LOCATION ⚪brbrbrbrAlthough shops and restaurants are only a short walk away, the area feels peaceful and secluded. Because of my flat's central location, I strongly recommend leaving your car at home. Any point of interest in Chicago can easily be reached by walking, public transit, or Uber. brbrbrbrA few local highlights:brbrbrbr⚾ Wrigley Field & Wrigleyville → 8-min walk.brbr ️ Southport Corridor → 1-min walk.brbr ️ Music Box Theater → 5-min walk.brbr Metro Theatre → 10-min walk.brbr ️‍ Boystown → 15-min walk or 8 min via public transit.brbr Lakefront Trail & Belmont Harbor → 12 min via public transit or driving.brbr Lincoln Park Zoo → 26 min via public transit or 15-min drive.brbr ️ Downtown → 25 min via public transit or 20-min drive.brbrbrbrTransportation:brbrbrbr Southport 'L' train stop (Brown line) → 6-min walk.brbr Addison 'L' train stop (Red/Brown lines) → 12-min walk.brbr✈️ O'Hare → 50 min via public transit or ~35 min drive.brbr✈️ Midway → 65 min via public transit or ~45 min drive.brbrbrbr⚪ EXCLUSIVE PERKS ⚪brbrbrbrDuring your stay as my guest, you receive a free membership to The Metropolitan, a members-only club and co-working space located on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower (for reservations 14 days only).brbrbrbrThe Metropolitan features upscale co-working space, dining, and bars, all with stunning views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. When parking, be sure to check all signs nearby because it's easy to get a ticket when parking rules are broken. For the easiest parking, I highly recommend using a service called SpotHero to reserve a spot nearby before you arrive.brbrbrbr⚪ CHECK-OUT ⚪brbrbrbrUnlike some other hosts, I won't ask you to wash the sheets, take out the trash, mow the lawn, or scrub anything. A Novel Situation at Wrigley

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Summary:brbrThis is such a lovely spot and I think you will quite like it. The space features wonderful large windows in all of rooms and has all of the quirky charm that vintage buildings offer up. The location literally can't be beat, with the apartment a five minute walk from Wrigley Field, the bustling Southport shopping corridor, and both the red line and brown line subway stations. It's about a ten minute walk to all of the 'Boystown' nightlife. There is no parking available with the apartment.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrThis apartment was originally the engineer's apartment for the building, and I made it up to be my home in the city. I decided recently to try living in a new spot for a bit, so it still has all of my art, furniture, and books...it's a real home and I hope you will find it as cozy as I do. I've used my years of experience as a superhost and designer to set up this unique flat so that it includes all the comforts of home while embracing the quirky charm that only a vintage building can offer. brbrbrbrPlease keep in mind that because my flat is located in a 100+ year-old urban building on the ground floor, you may occasionally find an errant cobweb or two, in spite of my hardworking staff's best efforts. The Shingle Life near Wrigley

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Summary:brbrI took a perfectly nice little flat on a beautiful street and filled it with great things...I want my guests to feel less like they are at an Airbnb and more like their 'very tidy but quirky friend' gave them keys to the flat for a weekend away.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrI've used my years of experience as a super-host and interior designer to set up this unique flat. It has all the comforts of home while embracing the quirky charm that only a vintage building can offer. brbrbrbrI believe in high standards of personal comfort, so you'll only find high thread count cotton sheets on the bed (usually a bit wrinkled, as I don't like you enough to iron them), comfortable feather pillows, great mattresses, and thick towels. The bath products are offer are from Public Goods and seem to be universally liked. We also supply a good amount of coffee and some other little amenities to really make you feel looked after.brbrbrbrThere are four steps leading down into the space, which will present a challenge to anyone with limited mobility. The shower has a full size bath tub and great water pressure. brbrbrbrPlease keep in mind that because my flat is located in a an old urban building on the ground floor, you may occasionally find an errant cobweb or two, in spite of my hardworking staff's best efforts. The brown line train is about a 10 minute walk down Montrose avenue, with trains running into the heart of the city and easy transfers to the subway service. I am also immediately beside the Clark street bus, which goes down into the Wrigleyville area. brbrbrbrWithin a three minute walk are some great takeaway food spots and a 7-11; the area centered around the Montrose CTA stop has three or four lovely spots to eat and a couple of great bears.brbrbrbrIt is about a 20 minute walk down Clark street from the front door of the flat to Wrigley field.brbrbrbrEXCLUSIVE PERKSbrbrbrbrDuring your stay as my guest, you receive a free membership to The Metropolitan, a members-only club and co-working space located on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower (for reservations 14 days only).brbrbrbrIncluded with your membership:brbr✔ Upscale co-working space, dining, and barsbrbr✔ Stunning views of Chicago and Lake MichiganbrbrbrbrMessage me for more details!brbrbrbrPARKING brbrbrbrParking isn't included and the streets around us are all either permitted (local residents only) or metered, so make sure not to use those spots. Fifty Shades of Greige

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Summary:brbrI’m an interior designer and longtime Superhost who believes you deserve better than scratchy sheets and a suspicious futon. Everything here was chosen with intention—and a sense of humor. From the agressive use of floral fabric to the 'difficult at best' painting above the desk, this space is a little odd, very clean, and designed to feel like someone with great taste lives here. (Because, well, sometimes they do.)brbrbrbrThe Space:brbr10 takeaways for people who don’t have the patience to read my ramblingsbrbr(but still deserve a very nice place to stay)brbrbrbr• Sleeps 4 (1 King / 1 Queen bed)brbr• Full kitchen + fast Wi-Fibrbr• Shower with (occasionally moody but mostly good) water pressurebrbr• Professionally cleaned by people who care deeply and would benefit from other hobbiesbrbr• AWESOME street, 10-minute stroll to the Brown Line / around the corner from Wrigley Fieldbrbr• First floor unit in a vintage building (quirks included, free of charge)brbr• Hosted by a creative human, managed by professionals who actually pick up the phonebrbr• Thoughtful touches, compelling artbrbr• 24/7 phone support after bookingbrbr•The towels are nice and the bath products aren’t from a gas station. You’ll be finebrbrbrbrYou’re getting the best of both worlds here: I get to be your friendly, creative host—sharing local tips and a well-loved space—without also being the person scrubbing behind the toilet. (You're welcome.) That’s because I’ve partnered with a top-tier management team to handle logistics and cleaning, so you get both thoughtful design and professional support.brbrbrbrYou'll find soft, nice sheets (not the nylon nightmares other hosts offer up), good pillows, a good mattress, thick towels, and Public Goods bath products. I also keep you stocked with coffee and a few small extras to make mornings feel less like punishment.brbrbrbrThis is a vintage Chicago building with the quirks to prove it: this space is pretty much the same as it was in 1909 and has a true Chicago apartment vibe. First floor level....yes, you may spot the occasional rogue cobweb despite my excellent cleaning team. But if you’re into character, comfort, and staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like an abused IKEA showroom... welcome home.brbrbrbrThere are 7 steps up into the unit, so it’s not great for guests with limited mobility. And yes, it's inside of a 120-year-old building, so you will hear footsteps above. But also: you'll sleep well here. It’s quiet for being in the city. It’s comfy with big windows and just enough alarmingly turquoise paint to make it have an opinion.

A Hand-some Place Near Wrigley

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Summary:brbrI’m an interior designer and longtime Superhost who believes you deserve better than scratchy sheets and a suspicious futon. Everything here was chosen with intention—and a sense of humor. From the oversized plastic hand chair to the overly friendly bird moment above the bed, this space is a little odd, very clean, and designed to feel like someone with great taste lives here. (Because, well, they do.)brbrbrbrThe Space:brbr10 takeaways for people who don’t have the patience to read my ramblingsbrbr(but still deserve a very nice place to stay)brbrbrbr• Sleeps 2 (Queen bed)brbr • Full kitchen + fast Wi-Fibrbr • Tub with (occasionally moody but mostly good) water pressurebrbr • Professionally cleaned by people who care deeply and would benefit from other hobbiesbrbr • 20-minute walk to Wrigley, 10-minute stroll to the Brown Linebrbr • Ground floor unit in a vintage building (quirks included, free of charge)brbr • Hosted by a creative human, managed by professionals who actually pick up the phonebrbr • Thoughtful touches, neurotic artbrbr • 24/7 phone support after bookingbrbr •The towels are nice and the bath products aren’t from a gas station. You’ll be finebrbrbrbrYou’re getting the best of both worlds here: I get to be your friendly, creative host—sharing local tips and a well-loved space—without also being the person scrubbing behind the toilet. (You're welcome.) That’s because I’ve partnered with a top-tier management team to handle logistics and cleaning, so you get both thoughtful design and professional support.brbrbrbrYou'll find soft, nice sheets (not the nylon nightmares other hosts offer up), good pillows, a nice mattress, thick towels, and Public Goods bath products. I also keep you stocked with coffee and a few small extras to make mornings feel less like punishment.brbrbrbrThis is a vintage Chicago building with the quirks to prove it: a bedroom where the closet is in the wrong place and it’s best not to ask why, the hallway has an attitude, and yes, you may spot the occasional rogue cobweb despite my excellent cleaning team. But if you’re into character, comfort, and staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like an abused IKEA showroom... welcome home.brbrbrbrThere are four steps down into the unit, so it’s not great for guests with limited mobility. And yes, it's the ground floor of a 120-year-old building, so you will hear footsteps above and encounter a radiator that is passionate and not afraid to express itself. But also: you'll sleep well here. It’s quiet for being in the city. It’s comfy. And the bluebirds on the bedroom wall are watching over you. (Kind of intensely.)brbrbrbrThe furnishings took a while to find. The giant plastic hand chair Not strictly necessary, but hard to regret. The bathroom features a weeping clown portrait. I could say it’s all “curated,” but that makes it sound like someone tried too hard. This place was built on instinct and good shopping.brbrbrbrLocation:brbrbrbrThe flat is in Ravenswood, a peaceful, tree-lined neighborhood with it’s own vibe. You’re tucked into a quiet pocket of the city just a few blocks from Clark Street, where things get lively fast. Walk ten minutes and you’re on the Brown Line train (a super scenic trip that takes you straight into the heart of the city); hop the Clark bus and you’ll be down in Wrigleyville or up in Andersonville before your phone finishes loading the weather.brbrbrbrWrigley Field really is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute cab ride. Cubs game nights bring extra energy and temporary parking drama—more on that in the next section.brbrbrbrParking:brbrbrbrI’ll say this, and really mean it: we are so well located with transit and ride share options you probably won’t need a car unless you are using it to get to Chicago. If you are insisting on it, there’s no designated parking spot. Street parking is generally available on our block and surrounding ones, except during Cubs games or Wrigley Field events between 5–10pm. At those times, the city enforces a strict “we will absolutely tow your car” vibe. It’s very effective. brbrbrbrYour best bet SpotHero. It’s an app that lets you book a spot in advance and avoid the whole “circling for 40 minutes while reevaluating your life choices” thing. Put in Montose and Greenview to show the nearest spots.brbrbrbrOtherwise, the city parking restrictions drop off a few blocks over even during game days, but city street parking in Chicago is an art form, on game days it requires cunning and skill, plus panther like parallel parking abilities.brbrbrbrAlso, a universal city tip: please read the signs. All of them. Chicago’s parking rules were clearly written by a sleep-deprived poet with a grudge.brbrbrbrExclusive perks:brbrbrbrGuests staying under 14 days get access to The Metropolitan Club, a members-only co-working and dining space on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower. Yes, it’s fancy. Yes, the view is outrageous. Yes, you can take your laptop and pretend to be someone who owns a watch that ticks.brbrbrbrGuest Access:brbrYou’ve got the entire flat to yourself. I promise you won’t somehow find your host staring into the refrigerator at 2 am. If you’re a smoker, please head off-property—outside the back door or in the courtyard garden still counts as “on property,” so plan accordingly. Vaping indoors also counts. (And no, that one clove cigarette you brought back from Berlin doesn’t get a pass.)brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrQ: How do I get to [place] from here brbr A: Google Maps is your best friend. We’re near the Montrose Brown Line stop, which connects easily to everything. Need to drop in a search pin Use Greenview and Montrose to explore the immediate area.brbrbrbrQ: When is check-in/check-out brbr A: Check-in is at 4pm. Check-out is at 11am. If you need a place to stash bags before or after, I can recommend a local luggage drop service. It never hurts to ask about early check-in…if we can, we do it. But a late checkout is always going to be a no, as our team of cleaners get their hustle on during the day so they can go home to their family at night.brbrbrbrQ: Do you have air conditioning or heat brbr A: We do! Radiator heat is supplied by the building (and turned on/off by folks who are not us with keys to the boiler room). In warm months, window units will be installed starting mid-May. The space stays comfortable year-round, though folks often crack a window in the winter months when they start feeling the vapors.brbrbrbrWhy stay here brbrBecause I’ve done the hard part. I’ve figured out how to make a space that’s both beautiful and genuinely comfortable. A space where you can fall asleep under weird art and wake up to good light. A space that feels personal—but doesn’t have anyone’s toothbrush forgotten in the silverware drawer.brbrbrbrI’m the kind of host who wants to tell you where to get the best almond croissant and how to dodge Chicago parking tickets. I love sharing this place with people who notice details—who get joy from great sheets, unhinged bathroom paintings, and the quiet thrill of exploring someplace new.brbrbrbrBefore you book, our virtual front desk is available from 9am to 7pm CST to answer any questions you have. After you book, you’ll get access to that same virtual support during those hours plus a phone number where you can reach a real, live human being 24 hours a day—whether you’re locked out or just panicking about how the stove works.brbrbrbrHope you love it. brbrHope you come back. brbrHope you don’t try to steal the hand chair.brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrThis is a home in the city. There will be sunlight pouring through the windows. There may be noise. You might hear a neighbor sneeze upstairs. Occasionally, someone will stand outside on speakerphone and describe a medical condition in excruciating detail.brbrBut in return: you get privacy, personality, and a bed that doesn’t judge you for eating snacks in it.brbrbrbrWe don’t do daily housekeeping, but if you need something during your stay, just reach out. brbrbrbrCommunication is kind of our thing.
