It is literally steps away from The Shambles, the Minster is two minutes walk away, the Yorvik Viking experience is also just steps away and there are countless restaurants and shops surrounding the building. All this but still the apartment is calm and quiet, away from street noise, the Minster bells can be heard when the windows are open! brWith two double bedrooms and two full size single beds on the mezzanine area, The Loft apartment can comfortably sleep up to six people, also has two bathrooms! There is a fully equipped kitchen for dining in or just a quick cuppa before hitting the shops again! brThe master bedroom is en suite with a shower and the family bathroom has a lovely deep tub and a shower. The apartment is just around the corner from 14th century Monk Bar, the tallest and most elaborate of the 4 Bars of the city walls. The Grade 2 listed building was formerly the nurses quarters to the old city hospital and the first floor apartment is newly furnished and new to the holiday rental market. The apartment is to the rear of the property and shares a communal entrance hall and gardens. The bedroom has a king-sized bed fitted with crisp cotton sheets and the good sized wardrobe and bedside drawers should provide ample space. The lounge contains a comfortable sofa and large screen TV plus an attractive electric stove providing heat &/or a nice cosy glow to the room. There is also a small extending dining table and 2 chairs for the traveller who prefers a quiet, cosy meal away from the crowds after a busy days sightseeing. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob plus microwave, washing machine and fridge. The bathroom has a newly fitted over-the-bath shower and glass screen. It is not too busy, so it is quiet at night. It's location makes it an ideal base to explore all of York's many attractions, all are within easy walking distance / Minster 5 mins walk, main shopping areas 5 minutes walk through the Museum Gardens.brbrThe cottage has been equipped and furnished to a high standard incorporating a hand made kitchen with quartz work surfaces and Smeg and Neff appliances. brbrBathrooms feature travertine tiles, duravit sanitary ware and hansgrohe rain showers. The main bathroom also has a freestanding bath. brbrThe lounge has a period Georgian fireplace with solid oak flooring, comfy sofas and 2 leather arm chairs, there is a 40 Flat screen TV.brbrBedrooms include quality beds and soft, top quality cotton bedding. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an en suite bathroom with a great view at the front of the house. Also at the front of the house is bedroom 2 with a kingsize bed again with a great view over the front. At the back of the house is the dormer bedroom with 2 single beds and a nice view down Marygate Lane. There are flat screen TV's in all the 3 upstairs bedrooms. Downstairs is the fourth bedroom with bunk beds suitable for adults or kids. brbrOutside is a small courtyard area with patio furniture and planters. brbrThere is a fast WIFI connection.brbrThere is a large 24hr secure car park to the rear of Marygate, (1 min walk, £22 a day) Alternatively, I rent a space on Micklegate for £10 a day. Other parking deals can be found on YourParkingSpace or JustPark.brbrWe also have a high chair, lightweight pushchair, fold down cot and toys/activities in the cottage for our guests with babies/toddlers.brbrThere is the excellent Star Inn The City restaurant in the Museum Gardens opposite the house 2 minutes walk away. Also, the highly acclaimed Roots restaurant is just 4 doors down Marygate. The rest of Yorks' restaurants are just a short meander through the Museum Gardens, between a 5-10 minutes walkaway. There are two pubs on Marygate itself and a Sainsburys Local at the top of Marygate, 3 minutes walk away. The River Ouse is at the bottom of Marygate, a 1 minute walk away.brbrRegrettably we cannot accept bookings from stag or hen weekends as the property is in a quiet residential neighbourhood.brbr
