Positano, Campania, Italy
Property SummarybrbrNestled on a hillside above the shimmering bay of Positano, Italy, Palazzo Santa Croce is a truly extraordinary vacation rental that captivates guests from the moment of arrival. Distinguished by its unique burgundy facade, this historic palazzo carries centuries of cultural heritage within its walls, having originated as a monastery before evolving into one of the most remarkable private residences on the Amalfi Coast. From the 18th century onward, the property was enriched by rare and precious objects brought from the Middle East and beyond, a testament to Positano's privileged position along the ancient trade routes of spices, silk, and goods imported into the Old Continent. Merchants and travelers passing through left not only works of art but also a rich blend of cultures and traditions from ancient civilizations, all of which remain visible in the villa's extraordinary décor. In the early 20th century, Positano became a sanctuary for artists and intellectuals, and among those who made this palazzo their home was Edward Ghillausen, a member of the Bauhaus movement, who lived here with his wife until the year 2000. Their presence, along with that of the artists and literary figures who regularly visited them, left an indelible cultural imprint that permeates every corner of this magnificent building.brbrThe palazzo accommodates guests across 4 elegantly appointed suites and 1 single room, offering a total sleeping capacity befitting a residence of this caliber. Every room is equipped with all modern comforts to satisfy even the most discerning guests, delivering a level of service and attention comparable to a 5-star luxury hotel. Included in the rental are a daily personal chef and cooking service, maid service, and concierge assistance, each provided for 8 hours per day. A welcome dinner and daily continental breakfast are also part of the offering, along with heating, gas, air conditioning, electricity, daily changes of bed linen and bath towels, and final cleaning. Wireless internet Wi-Fi connectivity is available throughout the property, ensuring guests remain effortlessly connected during their stay. The villa's grounds include a beautifully maintained yard adorned with orange and lemon trees and bougainvillea, reflecting the vivid colors and fragrances of the Amalfi Coast. At the heart of the wellness offering is an indoor heated swimming pool with Jacuzzi and a cervical massage fountain, covered in local tiles and complemented by a sauna, a steam room, 2 showers, and a dedicated space with a massage table, all situated on the lower floor of the palazzo.brbrOutdoorsbrbrThe outdoor spaces of Palazzo Santa Croce are as rich in character and beauty as the interior, offering guests a series of terraces and garden areas that frame breathtaking views of Positano and the sea. From the main entrance, guests step directly onto a grand terrace where the panorama of the bay unfolds in all its splendor. This terrace is paved with ancient tiles featuring sacred scenes and decorated with terracotta vases of varying dimensions, while comfortable sofas invite guests to linger and absorb the atmosphere. Three entrances connect this terrace to the kitchen, the dining room, the lounge, and the staircase, making it a natural gathering point at the heart of the property.brbrOn the lower floor, a dedicated terrace with a solarium provides a sun-drenched retreat, where an outdoor Jacuzzi offers a further opportunity for relaxation in the open air. The first-floor suites each open onto private terraces, one of which offers a marvelous view of Positano's beach, while the other overlooks the sea and the main church of the town. On the second floor, one of the junior suites features a small private terrace with sea views and views over the garden, where the scent of orange and lemon trees mingles with the fragrance of bougainvillea.
