Overlooking the spectacular gulf dominated by the island of Tavolara, Olbia is the main tourist arrival point in northern Sardinia. In the centre stand out the medieval Basilica of San Simplicio and the Archaeological Museum, which displays finds from Nuragic artefacts to Roman warships, and on a hill just outside the city, with views over the gulf, the archaeological site Nuraghe Riu Mulinu. The coastal territory of Olbia alternates between beaches and cliffs of incomparable beauty, including Pittulongu, Porto Istana, Le Saline, Li Cuncheddi and Bados. Kid goat with myrtle and Gallurese soup for a land-based dinner, sea urchins, bottarga, mussels and oysters if you prefer to try the fish from the gulf. To accompany, a good Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is a must, and to finish a delicious seada with honey and a glass of artisanal myrtle liqueur.
