Casa Luna has been recently restored to a high standard with warm maple wood floors on top levels accessed by softly-lit travertine staircases and lies in a quiet pedestrian lane in the historic centre of Amandola, a few minutes walk from the medieval piazza.
The villa retains original 19th century stencilled and domed ceiling, oak beams and an open fireplace in the living room that leads to a pretty patio for al fresco dining and a tranquil garden with a palm tree, flowering jasmine, roses and fruit trees.
[ 2026 update - please note - major renovation works of a grand palazzo next to the property are currently underway with associated noise and daytime activity possible during weekdays (approx. 8:00am to 5:00pm) and scaffolding covered by protective sheeting running alongside the terrace and garden.]
Casa Luna itself is set over 3 floors with 2 large and airy double bedrooms, a 3rd bedroom/study and 3 bathrooms. The bedrooms offer breathtaking views over rooftops and church spire, beautifully lit at night, to the changing vistas of the Sibillini mountains beyond, which offer walking and hiking on well marked paths suitable for all levels of fitness and other outdoor activities.
The middle floor has a relaxing living-dining room and galley kitchen leading directly onto the patio and garden, offering space to relax away from the bustle of main piazza with its historic café-bar, delicious gelateria, a convenient small supermarket with well stocked delicatessen, bakery, banks with ATMs and other small shops.
The sandy beaches of the Adriatic and, in winter, ski slopes, are less than an hour’s drive away, as are many pretty neighbouring medieval hill towns and villages with year-round festivals of food, wine, jazz, theatre, opera. Amandola is renowned for its truffles and every November a truffle festival is held in the main square with music and local produce.
The sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast are just 30-40 minutes away by car as is a freshwater lake with its own beach. In winter skiing is available in neighbouring Sarnano.
This area of Le Marche is truly an undiscovered gem with stunning scenery and a warm welcome by the local people.

Christine has done beautiful work renovating her home in Amandola. The inside of the home is very comfortable. Our only complaint about the inside is the shower water temperature. You get about 5 seconds of hot water before the water turns cold and it just keeps fluctuating. My husband and I had that same problem consistently during our stay. The garden space is lovely, but the chairs shown in the photos are not there now. The only seating in the garden is two rather uncomfortable wooden chairs with no arms and no cushions. There is no other seating in the extensive garden areas. Be aware that you need to walk up about 100 steps on a steep street to get to the house. David, who met us in the piazza tomdirectmusnto the house, very kindly helped us with our two suitcases when we first arrived. Also be aware that you are expected to take all of your trash out of the house, down the hill and deposit it outside the town walls. The kitchen was fine for us. There is a small grocery store behind the main piazza where we bought coffee, milk, fruit, wine, etc., and we had breakfast, apertivos, and dinner in the garden area almost every day of our stay. As Christine notes in her description, the house does not have parking - we were able to find parking spots outside the walls every day. It is a bit harder on Wednesday, the town market day, but we did find a spot not too far away.

We fell in love with Amandola & Marche what a beautiful part of Italy. Christine’s home was the perfect retreat from a hot day touring the region and only 2 mins to the Piazza for a glass of wine to watch the world go by. We’ve visited many parts of Italy but Marche for us knocks the others out of the park.

This is an amazing stay in an amazing italian village. For those who want to stay in the middle of Italy, far away of the touristic hotspots, this is the place to be. The house was big enough for our family of 6 with 4 teenagers. This was our second stay in Amandola, the first place ever we came back !

We had the great privilege and pleasure of staying in Casa Luna for a couple of months. It is in a fabulous location in a small lane off the main piazza in Amandola. Within a three minute walk you can find: three bars/cafes (with three more if you stretch to a four minute walk!), two bread shops, a tabacchi, a small but very good supermarket, the weekly market, an excellent frozen fish shop, a great little trattoria serving fabulous pizza and local wines run by Andrea, a farmacia, a small filling station run by the smiling Mario, a superb rosticceria, two butchers and an opticians. Plus a very good Tourist Information office and a small cinema. In other words it is perfectly located if you want to embed yourself into the rhythms and rituals of a small town in the eastern Sibillini without getting into a car every time you fancy an espresso, gelato or spritz. The house itself is large and comfortable with three good sized bedrooms. Two overlook the attractive garden but one together with the master bedroom has a simply stunning view over the rooftops to Monti Amandola and the peaks beyond. It is the sort of view you never tire of seeing. We were (still are!) a couple but were joined by two adult daughters during our stay. The house is plenty big enough for four adults but, as the listing makes clear, the kitchen is small. It just means you need to be a little organised before taking your food directly onto the patio. This is a delightful area surrounded by pots of flowers. You can't take your car directly to the house but there are plenty of parking options nearby. Amandola is a good base for walking and exploring the Sibillini Mountains. The views from the peaks are superb and the flora and butterfly fauna are exceptional. We had a great time and met some very friendly and helpful neighbours and business owners. Christine herself is an excellent host who responds very promptly to any questions. Highly, highly recommended.

We love staying with Christine in her simple stylish home which is perfectly lócated just up a side street from the quaint central piazza in Amandola. The village is perfect if you want to explore Marche, go hiking or live an Italian village life with all that this implies. Will go back for sure and thank you to Christine for being such a lovely host.

We loved this recently renovated historic building in the heart of Anandola with its cafés, tourist office, restaurants and great walks and day trips into the surrounding mountains, parks and even to the seaside. It is ideally suited for a couple or family with young children (using the master bed and two guest rooms) as the kitchen is small with a bar fridge on the counter and dining is done on a foldaway table and chairs in the living room. A bit cramped for more than four but we managed. Washing machine works but hang to dry (which took two days in October weather), could use a stair rail on the stairs , microwave, coffee machine, large frying pan and storage containers for leftovers just because it’s not feasible to eat out for every meal of every day over a long stay. We were six adults in the three bedrooms, all of which have fantastic views from the windows but the guest rooms’ beds were Very uncomfortable with thin, hard futons and not enough pillows at all. This was the worst part of an otherwise idyllic week and we ended up pulling settees apart (all furniture seems to be Ikea style) to put the foldout futons overtop of the beds and gathering every sofa cushion in the house to distribute as pillows. Only other negative was having to clean the stove before I could use it and having to buy dish soap and toilet paper our first day. As mentioned, Highly recommend for a short stay, or a family with small children. Love the area. So glad we went here for our second week and eschewed another large city! No regrets.

If you want to experience authentic Italy this is the place for you. Set in a small back street in centro storico Amandola, a stones throw from the piazza and local shops. The surrounding area is full of hill towns, beautiful scenery and places to eat local produce cooked, as far as I’m concerned, with love. Great value too. Comfortable house with garden to sit in. I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay in Amandola very much: it's a beautiful place and nice and cheap restaurants in the neighbourhood. Fortunately the house was not zo warm and there was always shadow in some part of the terraced gardens. We visited the Tourist Information for tips, rent a Mountain Bike and went to the lake Fiastra (40 min.) where we swam near the bridge. You can also take a walk tot the 'Lame rosse' behind the dam.
