Montepigoli, private pool, stunning views, walk to restaurants/village,WIFI!

The location of this property is absolutely amazing. From opening the windows to the views over to the Apuan Alps first thing in the morning to watching the sun go down below the mountains in the evening, we enjoyed every day we spent here. It wasn't only the view. We loved getting our top-up provisions from the greengrocer and the general shop/bar in the village. We enjoyed having a drink or gelatos at the bar. We walked around the village and the hills exploring the historic bridge on the river. We almost felt a part of this little community by the end of the week. We also took day trips to Lucca, into the mountains and to the coast. The house is clean and well equipped and the pool was a good size for our family.

We were a group of 6 friends and the villa was perfect for us. The pool area is lovely, as is the kitchen & dining area, which is just as well because the only restaurant in walking distance is pretty bad. The villa also has a table outside and a BBQ big enough to cook for 6 people. The town is very pretty with a couple of friendly bars, one of which also has a small shop where you can get essentials (inc. wine and fresh bread). The views from the villa of the town and the surrounding hills & mountains is incredible. The villa also faces South/West-ish, so you get plenty of sun and great sunset views. If you're into very hilly cycling the villa is ideally placed, and there are plenty of hikes, mountain bike routes, and local-ish lakes and beauty spots for picnics. A couple of things did break during our stay: we didn't have hot water for a couple of days, but in fairness there had been a huge storm the night before, so that can happen and it was fixed within 36 hours. One of the beds wasn't particularly stable, although we didn't mention it and just propped it up with the jack out of our car, so the owners didn't get chance to address this during our stay. A curtain rail also fell out which only had one screw in it, but the owner was apologetic and it happened on our last night, so again there was no chance to fix this. Overall, we had a lovely time and the villa was perfect for our group. The couple of maintenance issues were nothing really and certainly not anything that would deter us from staying again.

Very beautiful villa in a peaceful area. You can walk to the little village below and enjoy cocktails in a little bar with stunning views. We love this area of Tuscany, more quiet and more affordable than the others parts of Tuscany (e.g. near Sienna and Florence for example). We found the most amazing restaurants nearby (but you need to drive) and a gorgeous lake for swimming. The villa itself if very comfortable and well furnished. The pool is beautiful and the views are to do for! We will definitely return to the area. Thank you!

As we pulled up to the villa in our car, we gasped at the view over the hilltop village and mountains. It really is magical. The villa itself is clean, well-equipped and in good condition. The beds were comfortable. We made good use of the pool and loungers. The village is 5 minutes' walk away (downhill...quite steep uphill on the way home, but good for burning off all the pizza!!). In the village there are a couple of restaurants, two cafes selling essentials, and a bar with a rooftop terrace overlooking a nearby town. We spent many a happy hour up on that terrace, drinking espresso martinis and limoncello. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. We would definitely come back to this villa and town. It was great.
