Innisfree, and its hosts, are as warm and welcoming as photos represent. The house is beautifully situated in well-kept grounds, high up with commanding views from the master balcony, deck and that gorgeous lapis colored infinity pool. It's well-equipped, meticulously clean and comfortable, designed not for tourists like a resort or beach front condo, but for the hosts who chose Nevis, this site and this design for themselves, after many years living on boats and exploring all the Leeward islands. Brett was very responsive to questions in advance and very helpful in arranging transport from SKB to the Nevis boat taxi, and an island car rental...much smoother than picking up a vehicle at the St. Kitts airport, waiting for the car ferry, etc. etc. He gave us welcome advice on what to seek out on the island, history and hikes, which beaches for walking, which for rum punch lunch. He was available, helpful and informative but never the least intrusive. You will need an SUV, not large, just with better axle height than a sedan, as the last few hundred meters up to the house are on a rough road where you may have to pause for some chickens, goats or monkeys to cross the lane. Don't expect a 2020 Lexus...these are Nevis vehicles, not fancy but suited to the need. It's all part of what made our Nevis holiday feel like we were in a home, in a place worth discovering, not on a cookie cutter Caribbean holiday. Unusually wet and windy weather patches while we were there, but we were not at all disappointed as the house was so pleasant, airy and bright, and reading a book looking out over the pool was at least as pleasant as lying on a beach chair at sea level. And the weather changes quickly. Nothing on Nevis is more than half an hour away in any case, and there are a surprising number of restaurants, plus a small public market, a couple of sizable grocery stores, and roadside stands selling fresh local produce. This house would work well for a family with two kids, or two couples. We two enjoyed the whole gracious run of it by ourselves, but there are also two cottages on the property--you could rent one of these alongside the main house for additional accommodation.
