FANTASTIC VILLA WITH POOL

Whilst we enjoyed our holiday overall, we were disappointed to say the least when we arrived to find that the Villa was actually just a rather dark basement apartment, which had been sub-divided from the remainder of the semi-detached property, with the owners (who were very kind) living in the floors above during our stay. I have booked several villas through Homeaway previously and all were (detached) sole occupation as one would usually expect with a villa unless otherwise advised. I do not believe that the owners have deliberately tried to mislead with their property description and perhaps the price reflects the situation fairly, but at the same time, had we been aware of the situation we would certainly not have booked this property as privacy and light are very important to us. The property description does not mention that the property is shared or that the accommodation is located in the basement. I should add too that the shower cubicle in the bathroom was really too small even for a slim adult to be able to use and that the beds were very uncomfortable. There was also a restriction on the amount of electricity that we were able to use before we were charged for overuse (3KW was the advised limit), but we had no idea what 3KW of use meant, so were mindful to not use the air conditioning as much as we would have liked. 1 of the 2 bedrooms had no air conditioning at all anyway, so combined with the bed made for some very uncomfortable nights. The one big positive and the reason why I have still given the property 3 stars, is that the pool and outside space were very nice and almost entirely for our own exclusive use, save for the owners dogs occasionally wandering around the garden (not really a problem for us) and for one family visit. I would have preferred to have been able to leave a more positive review, but hopefully this will lead to the property being marketed correctly. Andy R

We had a lovely stay and can not speak highly enough of Sebastiano and Ivanna. They were friendly, helpful and generous And the villa was even nicer than the pictures. We enjoyed getting to know Siracusa and south eastern Sicily very much and this was a good location from which to explore. We would have liked Belvedere to have had more restaurants and things to do without having to drive, but once we got familiar with Siracusa, that didn't matter as much. We appreciate how well they looked after us and hope to see them again soon.

We had the most fantastic time at the villa with excellent hospitality, we were made to feel welcome. The swimming pool and outside area is superbe. Will definately be visiting again. Thank you very much for having us
