Stayed Jun 19, 2025This is a fantastic villa to have a holiday. We just spent a month here and as Americans who want all the comforts of home to be combined with the authentic experience of being in Italy and Puglia it was perfect.Salvatore, the owner speaks English and is a pleasure to deal with on all matters related to the house, the area and anything you need or want to know. The property is probably two acres and the home is of very high quality build and beautifully done. We have rented homes in France, Greece and Italy many times and found Villa Marissa to be the best experience. It's at the edge of the city in a area of beautiful fruit and olive groves yet is less than three minutes drive to lots of restaurants, cultural events in season and the best gelato shop we have ever been to.The gardens and general look and feel of this villa defy photo description. How does a photo show watching butterflies flutter around the best smelling Lanvender since the fields of Provence? Each morning while you have your coffee you hear nothing but the church bells while you smell the Jasmine coming up from your extensive gardens. While we were there we would go out and pick a fresh plum daily. The bed was large and comfortable the AC worked just as it does at home and the house built out of stone and concrete with tall ceilings makes it very quit in an already quiet neighborhood. Beaches of all types, broad sandy, coves, crowded, secluded are a ride through the countryside in 20 minutes.

Stayed May 31, 2025Casa Marisa is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Puglia. Salvatore is a kind and gracious host willing to share many tips on Castellana Grotte and many other nearby cities. The grounds are absolutely beautiful (pictures do not do it justice) and the house is immaculately clean. Beds are so comfortable...we all slept like babies! I highly recommend this villa if you want to be close to many beautiful cities in Puglia and would like a knowledgeable host that will take care of you. We could not have been happier here!

Stayed Oct 24, 2024It is impossible to say enough good things about this beautiful house and exceptional host. But I will say a few highlights. First the house is beautiful, perfectly equipped for meals at home and comfort any time of day. It is spotlessly clean and beds are comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous and tranquil. Salvatore makes you feel not only welcome, but that you are at home. He is very responsive to any need and was always helpful with tips, recommendations and advice. CasaMarisa is in a beautiful small town but close to all the area has to offer. Don’t even hesitate to enjoy this amazing place. I have promised myself to return as soon as possible. Thank you for everything, Salvatore!

Stayed Jul 24, 2024Casa Marisa was even better than we had hoped and it will be hard to beat as one of the best villas we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean, Casa Marisa was comfortable and we instantly felt very at home here. The villa itself is huge but the outside areas are the greatest asset. Stunningly beautiful, with plenty of seating (for both dining and relaxing), as well as gorgeous views of the valley. The villa is well situated to travel around the area. We didn't drive for more than 30 mins to find incredible towns and beaches. Castellana Grotti itself was walkable from the villa and included some great pizzerias and bakeries. There is a very cheap supermarket nearby too. The highlight was the very random music events happening close to the villa which kept us all entertained, although I think this was a summer event. The true highlight of Casa Marisa is Salvatore. A wonderful host who greeted us as if we were old friends and checked in on us at regular intervals. He was on hand to answer any questions we had and gave great advice on places to visit and eat. A true gent and he made our week even better!

Stayed Jul 16, 2023We just returned from a week in Puglia. The home is centrally located so it is easy to take driving trips to Matera, Bari, Polignano a mare, and several other places. The home is extremely clean and well equipped. The rooms are air conditioned. Salvatore truly makes you feel at home. He gave us tons of good advice about what to do and where to go. He was extremely easy to communicate with. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat.

Stayed Jun 19, 2022We stayed in Villa Casa Marisa for three weeks in June and July of 2022. Our whole stay was absolutely incredible and an experience we will never forget. The villa and surrounding grounds are exceptionally beautiful and are the perfect Puglian escape. Internally, the house is immaculately presented and mixes traditional Puglian charm with modern amenities. In terms of location, the villa is about a ten minute walk from the town of Castellana Grotte and there are plenty of restaurants and cafés to choose from. We loved Masteria Caroseno and the Dream Café in particular. The local pizzeria is within walking distance from the villa and offers extremely cheap but very tasty, take away pizza! The food in this part of the world is genuinely delightful and we ate so well every day. We used the villa as a base for travelling around Puglia and visited many fascinating small towns such as Matera, Locorotondo, Martina Franca as well as the larger city of Lecce. A car is a must for this region and rental is cheaper locally than from the airport. Finally we must mention the host, Salvatore. He is, by far, the best host any of us have experienced with a holiday rental. He gave us an incredible amount of support and was exceedingly generous with his time, local knowledge and even provided us with surprise gifts such as pastries some mornings or a bottle of wine from a local winery. He made our trip feel extra special and was so helpful with many of the logistics. It is hard to express our gratitude to him for how memorable he made our holiday. Grazie per tutti Salvatore!
