SISTER PROPERTY TO VILLA DO MAR I, VILLA DO MAR II, VILLA DO MAR IV AND COTTAGE DO MAR

Located on a fajã (a piece of land at the foot of a cliff) in the sunny Calheta area, close to its sister villas (Villa do Mar I and Villa do Mar II) and slightly elevated, Vila do Mar III has been beautifully converted from a farmers barn into a delightful villa with outstanding views and a heated pool that reaches into the living area.

The living area is full of light and has full length sliding windowpanes that provide direct access to the pool and those gorgeous sea-views. It leads to the large fully equipped kitchen with a built-in open barbecue. All bedrooms are on the first floor and have en-suite shower rooms.

The large swimming pool occupies the front of the villa and is surrounded by garden and some banana trees. A traditional lookout point at the edge of the pool terrace is perfect to appreciate those views during afternoon cocktail hour!

The Villa is secluded and very private and off the beaten track and accessed via a narrow steep driveway. The whole house and grounds is perched overlooking the banana tree plantations that suround it, and affords astounding views - you feel as one with the ocean.

A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by, the three Villas do Mar. A front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridge, 4-ring hob) and toilet. Access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the Villas do Mar down to the beach.

There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside.

All bedrooms are on the first floor and have en-suite shower rooms.

Madeira
Some seven hundred kilometres west of the African coast, Madeira is a stunning mountainous emerald island, lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. The first island to be discovered by the Portuguese navigators in 1419, Madeira became an important resting place on the long trip to the new world. From these humble beginnings, the holiday trade was formed and this spectacular island, which used to be the favourite place of the rich and famous, is now the preferred choice of all sorts of visitors, from those seeking year-round warm temperatures to nature lovers and sightseers, sports and active enthusiasts of all ages. Culture, history, stunning nature, a myriad of sea and land activities, added to a great foodie scene means Madeira has something for everyone. No matter where you go on the island you are rewarded by fabulous scenery, tiny villages and friendly people. With a population of over 100,000, Funchal is not only the capital, but also the 'heart' of Madeira and home to many of the islanders. This makes it a busy, chic, cosmopolitan and fun city, full of shops, shopping centres, bars, cafés and a great variety of restaurants and entertainment; a vibrant, cosmopolitan town where historic splendour and breath-taking natural beauty combine with a thoroughly modern atmosphere.

This villa is absolutely superb. It is modern, very clean, spacious and has everything you need. The views are amazing and it is incredibly peaceful, situated in a banana and mango plantation. The pool is great and it's lovely to open the lounge doors and step right into the water. Check in and out was easy and Bruno was always contactable if we needed him (we didnt). The real gem here is the beach hut. We thought we might meet guests from the other villas down there but we went down 4 times in a week and had it, and the beach, all to ourselves. The sunset is incredible from down there. Don't be put off by the drive in and out; yes it is steep and there is only room for one car but it takes just Iver a minute end to end so you see unlikely to meet anyone coming the other way. We went out each day and it happened to us just once. We cannot recommend Villa Do Mar III enough.

Absolutely gorgeous property and grounds with astounding views. Would definitely recommend. The drive to the property is harrowing to say the least with a big car, narrow with no way to have cars pass each other and 20+ degree grade. Secondly the driveway makes turning around really difficult with a big car. We rented a Mercedes c class which is fairly long and turning around was a 5 minute process. In short property highly recommended but if renting a car get something small and nimble.

We loved this villa and it is in a beautiful and quiet location but only a short car journey to local towns and restaurants etc. We would definitely choose this villa again if we return to Madeira.

It’s exactly as the website describes, facilities are excellent. Pool was amazing. Views were idilic, watching the sun set every day. We were hoping for a relaxing holiday and that’s just what we got. Madeira was beautiful and we need to return as 1 week was not long enough. Renting a small car is required due to the access road. Thank you

We have just returned from an amazing holiday at Villa Do Mar III. The pictures of the villa found on the website do not do it justice…it is even better than it looks. People go on about the road down, yes it’s daunting at first, but you soon get used to it, and what’s waiting for you at the bottom is well worth the ride down. The villa is superb, the pool amazing and the views spectacular. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and on arrival the owner supplies some basic rations and a bottle of wine…..much appreciated. Also offered is a complimentary meal at the owners seafood restaurant in Camara de Lobos, which is fabulous. At night, sitting out at the “Lookout” with a bottle of wine watching the sunset is surreal….and actually where I proposed to my girlfriend (she said yes). All in all, a fantastic place that we will definitely return to! Top-Tip: Get a hire car!!!!

The villa was really gorgeous. The only thing that marred our stay was the weather - it rained every day but one! However, we still managed to make good use of the pool and enjoyed exploring western Madeira. The complimentary fish supper at the owner's restaurant was also a lovely and unexpected surprise, as were the fresh mangoes and other fruit left for us!

We stayed at this villa June/July for two weeks, the villa exceeded our expectations. It was a little taste of paradise, the pool was amazing and the view breathtaking. Any little hitches or teething problems were quickly dealt with in such a professional and friendly manner. I cannot recommend this villa enough and in fact the whole Island of Madeira is a must for all travellers. I would just also like to say a huge thank you for making my birthday so memorable with a beautiful meal at the villa do carne, thanks to everyone involved. I would certainly like to return to this villa in the future and will also encourage all my friends and family to book also. First class!!!
