Tourist Attractions in Scottsdale

Bella Villa is centrally located in Scottsdale, the beautiful rural regional centre of North-East Tasmania.

The Villa is only a short stroll (approx 400m) from the town centre, with a number of interesting specialty shops, Woolworths supermarket, bottle shops and pubs.

300 metres down the road is Anabel's of Scottsdale, the National Trust listed a la carte restaurant and reception centre, set in a beautiful old world garden featuring huge rhododendrons.

The North-East Rail Trail passes through the town in the same street as the villas (approx 300m to one of the main trail entrances). A specialty bike shop in Scottsdale can accommodate all your biking needs (the Red Dirt Bike Company). The high family friendly trail features no traffic and an easy gradient. The trail meanders through varied rural countryside, past farms and through forests featuring large man ferns. It continues for a distance of approximately 31km from Scottsdale to just before the picturesque village of Legerwood.

Take a short drive to experience the vast tapestry of colour of the rural countryside in this region, featuring poppies, dairies, sheep, vegetable crops, forests and mountains.

Surrounding tourist attractions

A short drive from Scottsdale takes you to the famous Barnbougle Links and The Lost Farm seaside golf courses located near the beautiful beach village of Bridport. Both courses have been ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Bridport is 15 minutes from Scottsdale and has a large number of small bays with excellent swimming for young children, as well as isolated expansive beaches and sand dunes.

20 minutes from Scottsdale is the internationally renowned Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, the largest lavender farm in the southern hemisphere - stunning in December/January when in flower;fascinating and beautiful the remainder of the year.

The North-East Vineyard Trail will take you to the famous Piper's Brook and Jansz vineyards with cellar door tastings of superb cool climate wines.

Scottsdale is the major town serving the Derby region and the gateway to the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails which served as a major leg on the Shimano World Enduro Series in 2017. Mountain bike hire is available in Scottsdale at either The Red Dirt Bike Company or The Art Gallery Cafe.

Rainforests and forest walks are a feature of the north-east and you can gain invaluable local knowledge at the Tourist Visitor Information Centre in Arthur St.

The stunning beaches of the Bay of Fires (Binalong Bay) are only 90 minutes drive from the villas. On the way to the east coast stop in Pyengana and visit the St Columba Falls and do a cheese tasting or see the cows being milked on the robotic dairy at the Pyengana Cheese Factory Holy Cow Cafe.

Launceston is 60 minutes drive (via the A3 road) and the Spirit of Tasmania ferry 2 hours drive from Scottsdale. The East Coast is 90 minutes drive via the A3 Rd. Hobart is 3 hours drive via the A3 road and then the Midland's Highway.

Scottsdale can be reached from Launceston via the A3 (Tasman Highway). This is the most windy route and features a beautiful outlook to the North-East at the Sideling Lookout; or via the B81(this route travels through Lilydale and enables you to visit the Lavender Farm on the way via a small detour). It is slightly longer than the A3 route. Alternatively head from Launceston to Piper's Brook to visit the wineries of this region, and then onto Bridport seaside village before heading back to Scottsdale.

Scottsdale can be accessed by private hire car or by public transport usingSainty's North East Bus Service.

Make Scottsdale your ideal base for exploring all North-East Tasmania has to offer.

Bella Villa was a lovely little home away from home. The full kitchen was and dining space. The property has a lovely garden and is very well located just a short walk to the shops.

Exposed wires (not cool for 6”3 teen) for lighting. Minimal lighting throughout property at best. Bed base in master that appeared water damaged - not the first thing you want to see in an establishment that you’ve paid good money for. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Fan in bathroom didn’t work properly. Inability to use the Venetian blinds properly. They could be open and closed but not tilted. Again, difficult when the lighting was so poor but needed daylight to get dressed for the day. Being located on a main road - tilting the blinds for lighting was required but not an option).
