Afentiko Pigadi means ‘The Master Well’. The name comes from an old water well built during the Ottoman Empire. It gave its name to this area of Methoni. Our family brought it back to life and decided to keep its name and energy for our villas.

Surrounded by endless rows of silver-green olives trees, Afentiko Pigadi’s four independent villas are located on a serene hillside overlooking the Ionian sea. Made from local stone sourced in near-by areas and with great respect to the unique Peloponnesian landscape, the villas are designed as a natural continuation of their surroundings. The famous perennial olive groves, mix with Afentiko Pigadi’s herb garden. The smell of lavender, thyme and oregano surround the visitor, and the eye travels from the small bunches of orange and lemon trees down to the crystal clear blue of the sea and Methoni’s little islands – Sapienza, Agia Marina, and Schiza.

Each villa has its own unique style, combining the beauty of handcraftship of stone and wood exteriors, with modern luxury interior design. All four villas are fully equipped to the greatest detail, offering a calm and peaceful stay, which allows the visitor to focus on his holiday: discovering the area and the beautiful landscapes and beaches that surround Methoni.

Afentiko Pigadi’s biggest claim is its location and serenity: unforgettable nights, where you can sleep next to the magic of the well and the healing sound of its olive trees. The lightest and sweetest summer dreams are made out of Messenian sun and the light blue of the Peloponnesian sky.

This is a well appointed holiday let with a traditional Greek interior updated to modern standards. The let No 1 we stayed in is probably the least attractive in that 2-4 have sea facing outside seating areas with fine views. Having said this we thought it fair value. The swimming pool and facilities are fine. The on site manager Marios is engaging and very positively helpful - a real plus. We would happily stay there again and recommend to others, which is the acid test of any let. The area is currently not very touristic. It has many assets which will make it so - fine beaches and access to some fine historic sites and a good choice of tavernas. Go quickly if you are going. There is a massive development at Pylos by Theasis, which along with other obvious developments will change the area quite significantly over the decade. The concern would be that such developments will kill the current inherent charm but that's modern tourism I suppose . I met a man who was looking for the 'secret beach' - no longer secret then is it.
