Guerneville, California
Relax among the redwoods in your riverfront cottage with brick paver patio with porch swing, large deck with hot tub and private outdoor shower, fire pit area, bicycles, and private dock with four kayaks. You are surrounded with lots of mature landscaping, flowers, majestic redwoods & fruit trees striking the perfect balance of sun and shade.
In the winter months, curl up with a good book near the fire in the wood stove while you wait for the rain to pass. On a sunny day, go for a bike ride with bikes provided across the historic foot bridge to Guerneville for an ice cream cone. In the afternoon, plan a visit to some local wineries using the many books and maps available. On another day, go for a hike in the redwoods at Armstrong Park or marvel at the waves on the Pacific shoreline at Goat Rock or Shell Beach. At the end of the day, breathe deeply and relax in the hot tub under the moon and stars. Then roast some marshmallows while sitting by the outdoor fire pit which is propane-fueled for ease of use and allowed on "Spare the Air" days.
The first thing you'll notice when you enter the house are the beautiful wide-plank wood floors and the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and trees creating a peaceful zen-like atmosphere.
The upstairs has two spacious bedrooms with Queen beds and new fluffy comforters. Both bedrooms have lots of windows and one has a deck overlooking the river. Please note there is no bathroom upstairs. There is a small bedroom downstairs with Twin bunk beds.
The main living areas are downstairs with an open floor plan. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows on one end and a wood-burning stove on the other end. There is an adjoining dining room with seating for six people. The dining room opens out onto the brick paver patio with a large outdoor table, propane BBQ grill, porch swing and lovely views of the river.
The kitchen is well-stocked with all the essentials and more (cookware, coffee, tea, spices, olive oil, etc.), stainless steel refrigerator, smooth-top electric range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker & grinder, blender, toaster oven and waffle iron. There is an adjoining breakfast nook with pub table seating for four.
The bathroom is located downstairs and has a large vanity area and shower. It is well stocked with plenty of bath and beach/spa towels plus two hair dryers. There is a private outdoor shower with hot water under the redwood tree stocked with soap, shampoo and conditioner on the deck outside the bunk room. All the bedrooms have mirrors and outlets to make it easier for everyone to get ready at the same time.
The patio is equipped with a propane BBQ grill, table and seating for six, and porch swing for two. The adjoining deck has a hot tub for up to 5 people, and an outdoor shower. There are stairs off the deck down to the fire pit area with seating and a dock where the kayaks (four singles and one double) are tied up in the summer from late June to late September. In the off-season, the kayaks are stored on the property and can be launched from our dock depending upon river levels and currents.

We had a great time staying at this house. Lovely and cozy house. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a stash of kitchen essentials like cooking oil and spices. Hot tub was great at the end of the day.
The 4 Moms enjoyed a weekend away. Kitchen was well equipped and the hot tub was spacious. Quiet and no one to pick up after except ourselves. We enjoyed cooking, wine, and chatting. The perfect place. We will be back.
Beautiful property to spend time surrounded by the redwoods and the Russian river.
We enjoyed our mini getaway to Zin and Zen. The house is lovely, well-appointed and surrounded by trees which makes you feel like you are nestled in a forest. To enjoy the river we walked down the stairs to the dock and laid out some towels. From there we enjoyed watching the water and plentiful birds; we jumped in the river for swims and took the kayaks out for lovely paddles!
Our family of 4 loved our stay at this house. The house was very clean and private. It was extremely well stocked with all of the towels, beach items, paper items, etc we needed. We loved the huge picture windows looking out over the river and spent a lot of time in the hot tub. The outdoor space was wonderful and relaxing. The area is very quiet and cute. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and looking at all of the interesting houses. We also enjoyed exploring the beaches at each end of the road which are available in addition to the dock with the home. I would highly recommend this vacation rental.
We had a great time staying at this house. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a stash of kitchen essentials like cooking oil and spices. The sheets were soft. The bed was comfortable. The hot tub felt great. The shade of the California redwood was even better. there were kayaks and lifejackets, as well as boardgames and bikes, tons of fun activities just at the house the river was refreshing in the current. The first few days of June was surprisingly fast and deep. a little ways up from the house, the river widened and was easier to cross, but right by the deck of this house the water was very quick. I am an excellent swimmer, and the current pushed me pretty far when I was crossing just through swimming. I wouldn’t allow my boys to swim so we did enjoy the kayaks! Loved that the house had bath towels and beach towels! Recommend bringing river shoes. Also enjoyed grilling on the deck and there was a nice Bluetooth speaker that we were able to take out on the deck and enjoy while we soaked in the hot tub. Thanks!
We loved this house! Our small kids could play outside safely on the deck, take hot tubs and enjoy the amazing views! We will definitely be back in summer
The property was exactly as advertised. Loved the hot tub overlooking the river.
Our family enjoyed a cozy winter weekend with a fire and s’mores. We also explored the coast and Armstrong State Park. We highly recommend this house with a great host!
This was such a lovely little home! We loved that it was tucked away from the local towns and felt nestled in the woods, yet was so easy to get to local hot spots for wine tasting and shopping. I went with a group of four best friends, and our weekend was dotted with rain, so we didn't get to enjoy the river. But it was a lovely spot for a cozy rainy weekend, too! We found delight in the wood burning stove, hot tub in the drizzle, and plenty of board games to entertain ourselves. We watched a lightning storm through the giant back deck windows and felt cozy delight. We love to cook so we usually bring our own knives and measuring cups, but we were delighted that this kitchen was truly FULLY STOCKED - most rentals are not! So much care and attention went into this great little home. We are definitely putting it on our favorites for a return visit. It would also be good with a family, since there is a bunkbed room. :)
The pictures do not do it justice! Stayed here with my wife for our anniversary- a quiet weekend on russian river. Zin & Zen was CLEAN, COZY, AND COMFORTABLE! it's right in the water, wonderfully decorated, even when we weren't out and about in guernville, jenner, or Duncan mills, we were perfectly happy just sitting in the house with a cup of coffee or glass of wine watching the weather through the huge windows. We hope to return this summer with our kids! Five stars, thank you for sharing your home with us, Suzie!
Wonderful home in a great location!
We loved the large picture windows overlooking the beautiful river view. The house was bright, well decorated and has nice furniture. We would like to return.
What a great property! It was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor shower so much as well as the water front deck and kayaks! Surrounded by beautiful scenery and cozy environment was the perfect place to create fond memories!
Pros - 1) great location in a quiet neighborhood, on the river, and close to town; 2) the house is very cute and well-kept; 3) the outdoor areas are wonderful, multiple locations to sit outside, relax and enjoy the view (I especially love the deck off of the main bedroom); 4) I didn't use it myself, but two of my friends said the outdoor shower was fantastic; 5) house was well-stocked with everything you might need; 6) the owners were quick to respond to any questions I had and were very helpful with information about the area. Cons - 1) only one bathroom; 2) the river isn't dammed yet, so we weren't able to go far in the kayaks as the water is only a few inches in some places; 3) kayaks were dirty; 4) the stairs down to the dock are pretty steep and could be very difficult for some people to get up and down; 5) we were there Mon-Weds and quite a few of the restaurants and shops in town were closed, so keep that in mind when choosing your dates. Overall, my friends and I very much enjoyed our stay at Zin and Zen.
lovely location overlooking the river!
Zin and Zen was the perfect place for our family to spend a week in the Russian River Valley! The location is terrific as it is just a short drive to many vineyards, the coast and Armstrong Redwoods State Park. Since we had a 17-month-old with us, we also spent a lot of time at the house. Suzi's place is gorgeous and there is so much space to relax & have fun. We made use of every outside area, the kayaks, the hot tub, the dock, and the many games they have available.......this place has it ALL! We have already recommended it to my sister and her family for a future trip. We really did feel privileged to stay in this home for our vacation.
We had a great vacation weekend at the house. The back deck was a delightful spot for a glass of wine or outdoor meal and the house is well appointed and cozy. The noise from the highway across the river was a bit of a bummer, but overall, we'd definitely come back.
