Oglethorpe Estate Main House: A Spacious Savannah Historic District Retreat
Experience Savannah from the heart of the Historic District at Oglethorpe Estate Main House, a spacious historic residence located along East Oglethorpe Avenue. Recently refurnished with thoughtfully selected décor and updated furnishings, the home offers a welcoming atmosphere that complements its original character. Accommodating up to 10 guests, the main house features generous living and dining areas, afull kitchen, multiple sitting spaces, access to a shared courtyard, and off-street parking for up to two vehicles. Located beside Colonial Park Cemetery and surrounded by the architecture, landscaped squares, and tree-lined streets that define downtown Savannah, Oglethorpe Estate Main House places guests in an ideal location for experiencing the city on foot. Restaurants, shops, museums, historic landmarks, and many of Savannah's best-known attractions are all within convenient reach. Whether you are planning a family vacation, reunion, wedding weekend, or getaway with friends, the home provides plenty of room for everyone to stay together. Its spacious layout also offers separate areas where guests can read, relax, work remotely, or enjoy a quiet moment away from the group. After a full day of sightseeing, return to a comfortable home base where your group can gather, prepare a meal, and settle into the relaxed pace of Savannah.

Recently Refurnished Living and Dining Spaces
Oglethorpe Estate Main House has been recently refurnished with updated pieces and thoughtfully selected décor that complement the character of the historic residence. The interiors feel fresh and inviting while still allowing the home's original architectural details to remain an important part of the experience. Hardwood floors, tall windows, classic trim, and generously sized rooms reflect the traditional character found throughout Savannah's Historic District. The main house begins on the second level of the building, above the separate garden-level unit. Upon entering the main living spaces, guests will find a comfortable setting designed for gathering. Leather sofas provide ample seating for larger groups, making the living room a natural place to reconnect after a day spent exploring downtown. Settle in for an evening of conversation, plan the next day's activities, or simply enjoy a slower moment together before heading out to dinner. Tall windows allow natural light to fill the room, while the home's architectural details provide a sense of history and character. The generous floor plan helps the living area feel open and comfortable, even when the entire group is gathered in one place.

Nearby, the formal dining area offers a dedicated setting for shared meals, morning coffee, or an evening spent at home. The dining space allows everyone to come together without feeling crowded, whether you are enjoying takeout from a nearby restaurant or preparing a meal in the kitchen. The full kitchen includes full-size appliances, ample cabinetry, and generous counter space for storing groceries, drinks, and vacation essentials. Guests can prepare breakfast before heading out for the day, pack snacks for an afternoon of sightseeing, or enjoy a relaxed dinner without leaving the property. The combination of a complete kitchen and a formal dining area makes the main house especially convenient for families and groups planning an extended stay. In addition to the primary living and dining spaces, several bedrooms include their own sitting areas. These smaller spaces give guests additional options for relaxing throughout the home and make it easier for different members of the group to follow their own schedules.

Sleeping Accommodations for Up to 10 Guests
Sleeping accommodations are arranged across the upper levels of the main house, with a total of two king beds and four queen beds. Each bedroom has been furnished to provide a comfortable and welcoming place to unwind at the end of the day. On the second level of the main house, the first bedroom features two queen beds. The airy room offers plenty of space for guests to unpack and settle in, while its fresh design creates a relaxing atmosphere. A sitting area within the bedroom adds to the room's generous layout and provides an additional place to read, enjoy a cup of coffee, or relax before heading out for the day.

The second bedroom on this level features a king bed surrounded by serene colors and layered accents. Two armchairs create a separate sitting area within the room, giving guests a comfortable place to relax outside of the main living room. This bedroom also includes an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower combination, providing added privacy and convenience. Continue to the third level of the main house, where two additional bedrooms offer their own distinct styles and spacious layouts. One bedroom features two queen beds along with a sitting area, making it a convenient option for guests sharing a room. The additional seating creates a comfortable space to unwind and gives the bedroom a more open, flexible feel. The final bedroom includes a king bed and its own sitting area. Thoughtfully selected furnishings, comfortable bedding, and a spacious arrangement make this room another inviting retreat within the home. With four bedrooms distributed across two levels, the main house provides flexibility for families, couples, and groups of friends traveling together. Guests can enjoy shared spaces throughout the day while still having comfortable bedrooms and sitting areas to return to when they are ready to relax.

Shared Courtyard and Private Parking
Outside, guests of the main house have access to the property's courtyard, which is shared with the separate garden-level unit. Outdoor seating provides an easy place to enjoy morning coffee, spend a little time in the fresh air, or unwind after exploring the city. A grill is also available for guests who would like to prepare a casual meal outdoors. The courtyard offers a welcome change of pace from the activity of downtown Savannah. It provides an additional gathering space beyond the home's interior and allows guests to enjoy the city's mild coastal climate during their stay. Oglethorpe Estate Main House also includes off-street parking for up to two vehicles. Parking is an especially valuable convenience in Savannah's Historic District, where street spaces may be limited or metered. Guests can park at the property and explore many nearby destinations without needing to move their vehicles throughout the day. Because of the home's central location, walking is often one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to experience the surrounding area. Guests can leave their vehicles at the property while visiting nearby squares, restaurants, museums, shops, and historic landmarks.

Stay in the Heart of Savannah's Historic District
Oglethorpe Estate Main House places guests within convenient reach of Savannah's most recognizable historic sites and downtown destinations. Colonial Park Cemetery is beside the property, while Oglethorpe Square, Columbia Square, and the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters are all nearby. Continue toward Broughton Street for shopping, coffee, dining, and local boutiques. City Market, Bay Street, and River Street also offer restaurants, galleries, entertainment, and views along the Savannah River. The Historic District's walkable layout makes it easy to explore the city at your own pace. Tour a historic home, enjoy lunch at a neighborhood restaurant, or wander beneath moss-draped live oaks as you pass landscaped squares, historic churches, brick sidewalks, and preserved architecture. With accommodations for up to 10 guests, a full kitchen, generous living and dining areas, multiple sitting spaces, access to a shared courtyard, two off-street parking spaces, and a highly walkable location, Oglethorpe Estate Main House offers a comfortable home base for experiencing Savannah. Whether you are visiting for a family vacation, reunion, wedding weekend, celebration, or getaway with friends, the home provides the space and convenience needed for a memorable stay.

A beautiful place to stay!! Can’t beat the location. The elevator was a great touch helping to bring suitcases to the top level. The decor was beautiful!!! The one but is that the actual mattresses were just okay.

Outstanding location and great space for our group. Loved that there was a bathroom for each bedroom and the house was very charming. Downside is that there are several maintenance issues that should be addressed. For example, stairway to third floor is severely tilted and the handrail is broken, door knob on front door, etc.

Nice location, but incredibly bare-bones stay. Absolutely no amenities included (no body wash is absurd). Management makes an effort, which is appreciated.

Amazing location in Savannah. Able to walk to all the top sites. The property was clean, beautifully apppointed and in a wonderful, safe neighborhood. The property manager was very responsive to any and all questions. The only real negative was the beds. They weren’t great to be honest. The queen beds are like college dorm mattresses. One of the king beds was softer and more comfortable but the rest needed a mattress topper or new mattresses. I like a firm mattress but these were rough. Even with that, it is still a 5 star stay because the location and home is just amazing. Would highly recommend.

Our group of 6 college friends came from all over the country. Beds were clean & comfortable. AC worked well, internet was good. Furnishings were pretty worn, stair railing to 3rd floor needs stabilizing, elevator was not usable, back stairs are fairly tricky for anyone w mobility issues. Strong odor at the back door. We kept the dehumidifiers running 24/7. Would have loved to have two little soaps per bathroom but we made it work & had a good time.

Our group of 8 stayed for four nightsThe Good: Communication with the host was excellent. They sent multiple emails and texts before our arrival date with clear info for how to find and enter the property. Location is perfect for exploring Savannah— walkable to just about anywhere and near bus stops. The parking spot in the alley behind is handy and (just barely) fit our 15-passenger van. Spacious home, comfortable enough beds, and air-temp was just right. The Bad: As others have mentioned, the stairs are creeky and also slanted, due to the age of the building. There are three flights inside, so I wouldn’t recommend this place for families with tiny children or people who have mobility issues. Things like hand towels in the powder bath, a TP roll holder in one of the master baths, and extra towels for dishes were not provided. There is no window covering over the doors where the elevator is for two bedrooms, which allows light in and also isn’t very private. One rug someone had mentioned tripping on is still sticking up and caused tripping for us, and one of the privacy glass panes from the bathroom door is still missing, as mentioned in a previous review. Also, the chairs and sofa are super worn out and ought to be replaced. Beds were okay, but the pillows weren’t very comfy. The Ugly: there is black mold in the kitchen cabinet beneath the sink. There was a swarm of bees in the top floor master bedroom upon our arrival. We did alert the host, and they were trying to arra

This property was perfect for my bachelorette weekend. All 11 of us had a bed to sleep in (no pull out couches or air mattresses needed) and each room had so much space! The location cannot be beat, it is right in the center of everything-- half way between River Street and Forsyth Park and 2 blocks away from Collins Quarter. The shower in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor is not super intuitive, but you have to pull the handle out and then spin to the desired temperature. It was a great stay overall!

This charming house was the perfect place for my friends and I to relax and enjoy Savannah. The house was very spacious and comfortable. It has an elevator but there are many stairs so be aware if you have mobility issues. The location was perfect, and everything was within walking distance. It is across the street from a graveyard that locals treat like a park and use it for walking and exercising their dogs. A nice historical property that bears its age well.

Our stay was good overall. The location was ideal and in the middle of all the great restaurants but still walking distance to the river. Communication was great and quick. We were not able to use the elevator since it was not functioning upon arrival, but they did over to fix it. Our stay wasn’t long enough to really bother with it. So we just dealt with the inconvenience. House was not as clean and a bit run down. The floors creaked a lot and walking up and down the stairs to heat up milk for the baby sucked, especially since the elevator lead straight into the bedroom. Not the most suitable for a family traveling with a newborn and dog.

Location great. House is large and functional, but worn. High ceilings mean steep staircases. Railings dangerously wobbly. Elevator not working on arrival.Management did get it fixed end of next day. Glass pane missing in bathroom door to fire escape. Not repaired during stay. Outdoor front lighting poor. Kitchen amenities basic.A few trip hazards with rugs. Needs maintenance. Perhaps owner needs to visit.
