Stayed Sep 15, 2025The barn loft was one of my favorite short term rental stays ever. The space is so unique - loved greeting the horses with apples every morning. We loved watching the deer in the evening while we enjoyed a nice glass of wine. Although super quiet and peaceful, the loft is ideally situated. It's close to Roanoke as well as the hiking and canoeing locations we visited. The host lives close but we felt completely on our own and independent. The apartment was perfectly furnished. Everything was super clean, we were supplied with everything we could possibly need. The host was super nice and very responsive to our questions.

Stayed Sep 5, 2025Absolutely beautiful stay. We enjoyed watching the horses and were even visited by a few deer. The view is amazing and the loft is charming! The beds were comfortable and we loved sitting down on the porch with coffee in the morning and a cocktail at night. Highly recommend if you love the peace and quiet of nature. John was responsive to our texts but we didn’t need anything that he hadn’t already provided! If we are ever in the area again we’d love to come back!

Stayed Aug 13, 2025John was an excellent host, and easy to communicate with. The Barn Loft was as described and incredibly relaxing! Very pastoral and serene setting; having a morning cup of joe while watching the horses was a great way to start the day. Very comfortable beds, good AC and supremely quiet. Easy access to the BRPW, groceries, and greater Roanoke. We will stay again, and highly recommend it to others.

Stayed Jul 13, 2025Perfect landing spot for my 16 year old and I wherein town to attend the mountain bike races. The apt was well equipped and perfect for two people. Despite the smaller kitchen, it was equipped enough that we managed to eat every meal in for an entire week! The property is also lovely and it was such a pleasure to look out the large windows and see green pastures and a couple of horses grazing every morning. The daily thunderstorms were an added bonus!

Stayed Jun 19, 2025This loft is soooo clean. It's beautiful upstairs. It was also nice to have coffee on hand! We used the laundry as this was a stop on the way to more sports and it was much needed. Beautiful rainbow with a rainstorm rolled in after we arrived. Lots of food options close! Super comfy beds.

Stayed Apr 27, 2025This was our second stay. Please see prior review. Absolutely the most peaceful and beautiful place. We’ve ever stayed at. Also convenient to hikes on McAtee knob only about 40 minutes away and also hikes right on the ranch just beautiful. Perfectly maintained, clean and beautiful. Beautiful views it’s a little slice of heaven on earth. And the host John was a very gracious gentleman. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful ranch.

Stayed Apr 22, 2025From the moment we arrived to the ranch…. approaching the driveway and looking at the beautiful white fences., the pastures, the house, the Barn, so beautiful and so welcoming. The loft is located in the big barn at the top of the drive. As you enter into the green doors and step over to the staircase ….when you open the door to this wonderful loft, so beautiful so well maintained.. Sitting out in the evening, enjoying the peaceful views of the mountains across the way. Also starting in the morning when you get up and you look out the large window looking over the beautiful properties, the horses watching the sunrise coming over the mountains. Makes for a fantastic cup of coffee. We enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner sitting in that same beautiful spot. .We feel very blessed to have been able to stay here. We actually were here for three days. We hiked to the top of Mcaffe knob which is only about a 30 minute ride away and decided we wanted to stay longer but it was rented out for a few days so we hopped over to Shenandoah national Park Did some hiking there and stated a few places there and so happy to return here again for our last three days of our vacation. So if you want peace, fresh air beauty, this is definitely a place for you and the owner., John was such a gracious host so wonderful. We will return again. Thank you, John for letting us enjoy your beautiful slice of heaven on earth

Stayed Jun 26, 2024My fiancee and I really enjoyed staying here. It is convenient to the highway, restaurants, and downtown Roanoke while feeling like a little isolated peaceful retreat. The barn loft is very nice and had all things we could possibly think to need. It is a unique and special space, and the views are sublime. The horses and other wildlife in the area really made this a standout experience. If you are an animal and nature lover, you will enjoy staying here. John, our host, was very accommodating as well and made us feel welcome and at home. We hope to visit again sometime and stay a little longer!

Stayed Jun 17, 2024The place was very clean. The access road was not good. Single lane and you have to back out when you meet a car. The steps to the loft were not conducive for old people. My husband and I are in our 70’s and had to unload and carry up steps. The lighting was dark inside the loft, and the stairs light did not work. All doors squeaked and the bathroom sinks were clogged and ran very very slowly. I saw a snake several times in the downstairs barn , on my way in and out. No smart TV. It is conveniently located to all tourist Traps .
