Use of kayaks & fishing poles are complementary for our guests.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat, a boating and fishing getaway, a base camp for hiking, mountain biking, or kayaking, or simply a family-friendly escape, Driftwood blends relaxation and adventure in perfect harmony.

Just a little over an hour from Birmingham, Chattanooga and Huntsville, and 2 hours from Atlanta, this tranquil spot offers everything you need for a memorable stay: complimentary fishing poles and kayaks, a private dock, your own boat ramp, and waterfront views. The property line is dotted with vintage sailboats for a touch of nautical charm, and with Lake Weiss crowned the Crappie Capital of the World, anglers will feel right at home.

Wake up to relaxing water views and wind down with a front-row seat to unforgettable sunsets. Sip your morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail along the peaceful shoreline of Weiss Lake. Whether you’re casting a line for bass and crappie or setting out for a leisurely cruise, you’ll enjoy year-round access to your own private dock.

The House
Driftwood is a thoughtfully appointed 2 to 3 bedroom lakeside cottage, complete with a screened-in sleeping porch featuring a cozy daybed overlooking the shoreline and the charming sailboat marina next door. Inside, you’ll find either two or three comfortable bedrooms (3rd bedroom availability depends on the amount of people on the reservation) full bath with tub and shower, plus a convenient half bath in the laundry room—fully equipped with a washer and dryer.

The kitchen comes fully stocked with appliances, multiple coffee-making options, cookware, and cooking essentials like spices, oil, wrap, essentials, and coffee filters. Its open-concept layout flows into the living room, so you can enjoy a favorite movie or baseball / football on the TV while cooking up some food.

Pets
Well-behaved pets ages 2 and older, under 40 lbs are welcome with prior approval- unfortunately due to our insurance, we cant allow pit bulls or rottweilers on this property. :( To keep Driftwood welcoming for all, pets should never be left unattended and are not permitted on furniture (including the outdoor furniture/ daybed), or beds. Also, please do not allow wet dogs inside the porch or home at any time. :)

Conveniences
Just five minutes from Driftwood, you’ll find a neighborhood grocery stocked with a small selection of foods, produce, or beer and wine for your lakeside evenings. In under ten minutes there are larger grocery stores (Walmart & Ingles) with more options, or you can instead be savoring a meal or enjoying a drink at one of several local restaurants and bars—perfect for nights when you want a taste of the town.

Year-Round Adventures
Start your day with an early sunrise fishing trip—when the cool morning waters bring out the best bites. Weiss Lake, often called the “Crappie Capital,” is a favorite among anglers, and nearby spots like Yellow Creek Falls are known for excellent trolling, or see what's catching right off the dock.

For boating adventures, set out on a scenic cruise discovering hidden coves, waterfalls, and soaking in the vibrant reflections of colorful leaves on the surface in the fall. Yellow Creek Falls has a nice swimming area, and when the waterfall is full there is a swimming hole beyond the boulders you can park your boat and climb over to. Weiss Lake does have shallow areas, especially during the winter months, so please plan to have Depth Finders in working order and Navigation tools ready so you can stay safe and clear from shallow areas.

Dock & Water Access Information:
During periods of low water (late October to early March), the boat ramp is not usable. At those times, only flat-bottom boats can be secured along the shoreline at the dock.
The boat lift is not available for guest use. The owners’ boat may be stored on the lift, and water level fluctuations can occasionally make it inoperable.
V-hull boats are not recommended during the winter months and cannot be accommodated at the dock when water levels are low. Because the dock is fixed (not floating), the dock may sit too high above the water for safe and easy boarding during low water conditions.

If you prefer to stay on land, miles of hiking & mountain biking trails meander through lush nearby forests offering breathtaking views and chances to spot local wildlife. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker, rock climber, or simply seeking a peaceful stroll, these trails welcome everyone.
In the winter months be sure to hit the ski slopes at Alabama’s only ski resort, Cloudmont Ski & Golf, a 50 minute drive away. Great place for beginners and intermediate skiers alike. Located just off the Lookout Mountain Parkway in Mentone, Alabama. The mountaintop property spreads over 800 acres with outdoor activities year round. Cloudmont Ski Resort is open seasonally, as weather permits. Daily during season – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
GUIDED FISHING ADVENTURES:To make the most of your visit, consider planning ahead—book a guided fishing tour with Bay Springs Marina located directly across the lake from the dock if boating, or a 10 minute drive. Or reserve a boat for your vacation from Weiss Watersports, and they will deliver the boat to the dock!

THE BEST OF THE REGION

For what we were looking for it was perfect, quiet dead in. That area of the lake is deep where the dock is. Plus flooring needed to be updated a little bit but it was still clean. Everything you would need for your kitchen utensils or dishes Etc. Was more than adequate. It was a little bit of a drive to get to restaurants, but we knew that going in. The host Cameron was fantastic getting back with us on everything we ask for. We felt very safe there and our equipment and our boat Etc left outside, when we leave to go out to eat. The GRIDIRON RESTAURANT HAD A GREAT HAMBURGER AND OTHER FOOD ALSO . WE WILL BE BACK!!!!
