Our waterfront home is located on the tidal bay called Taunton Bay and Mill Brook. The house is a great blend of a traditional Downeast farmhouse with modern amenities. Wasgatt Point, or as we call it, the point, is a short walk down the driveway to watch the sunrise, admire Schoodic and Cadillac Mountains or pick blueberries when in season. See osprey, eagles and other wildlife from the kitchen table. In the month of May, watch the Alewives, a type of fish, make their way up the brook tospawn which brings lots of action to the water. Bring your kayaks to explore the bay where you may see seals or your bikes to explore Acadia and The Downeast Sunrise Trail. Trail parking is only a couple miles away where you can unload your ATV's and travel downeast. We are 10 miles from Ellsworth, 26 miles to Bar Harbor, 20 miles to Winter Harbor, the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park and 38 miles from Bangor.

Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed at-hand in the house. The host was very responsive and helpful, and the location is truly beautiful. Our kids discovered a love of rocking chairs ;) The house had 4 - all very comfortable. We definitely recommend!

The location of this property is fabulous—it overlooks Taunton Bay and offers peace and quiet, a beautiful view, lovely walks, and lots of opportunities to spot wildlife. It’s also just off a main road which makes access to other attractions (e.g., both parts of Acadia National Park) very straightforward. The home is an appealing New England farmhouse—built in sections most likely—giving it the quirky charm typical to farmhouses.

Highly recommend as a home base with some character to explore Acadia, and up and down the coast. On arrival, had a minor issue with the AC units, but owner was very nice and answered our call. Helped us figure out where the elect panel was to flip the breaker and problem solved...so very responsive. Definitely walk up to the point for a nice early morning or evening view and to skip stones. Neighbor saw us up there one evening and came down to say hi and made the kids a bouquet of some type of flowers from the shore.

Great property. Lots of outdoor space along the water for kids to explore. We enjoyed using the kayaks. Served as a great home base for checking out Acadia. House had all basic amenities available.

We found Harmon Homestead to be an excellent and unique location to base our stay in Maine. The older home has some quirky spaces but has been updated with fresh paint, new windows, new appliances and shower, modern comfortable couches, wifi, etc. I enjoyed the antique items hung in the dining room and kitchen (great history lesson for the kids on what the old kitchen tools and other items were used for) as well as lovely watercolor artwork around the home. The outdoor space was pleasant and the walks to the point were a fun bonus. Our favorite part was probably watching the birds come and go with the tides as we ate in the dining room. Good kitchen supplies, plenty of linens, and the whole house was spotless.

My husband & I spent 10 days at Harmon House and would have loved to have stayed longer. We’ve vacationed in Maine quite a bit and Franklin is a great location. It’s removed from the tourist traps and craziness of Bar Harbor and Acadia, yet close enough to go there when you want. We went to Acadia only twice as there are so many great hiking options and things to do near Franklin and surrounding areas. The house itself is perfect. It’s bigger than it appears in the photos and is charming and homey and had everything we needed. The setting is beautiful with the bay just steps away. We had our coffee at the picnic table every morning. A perfect way to start the day. Our last day was spent kayaking there where my husband paddled with a little seal friend swimming along. Denise is an awesome host and it’s clear why she’s premiere. She’s responsive, knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you again Denise! We will be back.
