Spacious and charming home base for our family to enjoy a safe and beautiful summer vacation full of swimming, biking, grilling and just relaxing. Large yard with waterfront deck, screened porch, outdoor shower and awesome sunsets over the harbor.
Amazing spot in Jamestown! Literally right on the water and enjoyed the views all day long. Spacious house and the screened in porch was lovely for meals.
We have rented the White House for a week, then two, over the past six summers. It sits on a great piece of property, plenty of grass, that looks out onto Narragansett Bay. The sunsets are incredible. It's just a few steps down to a what seems like a private beach. The Marina next door offers plenty of boats to view coming and going, and on mooring, but doesn't sell gas so no smell and the swimming is great. The house itself is comfortable and has everything one needs. The owners are accommodating and very responsive. We look forward to returning each summer.
We've stayed at this house two years in a row. Once in 2015 for a week and in 2016 for two weeks. For our 2016 trip we actually looked for a different place to stay only to see what else was out there. We came back to the White House because there wasn't any place as nice, close to everything in a perfect setting at this price point. It wasn't even close. We love it here and will definitely be back. It sits on a bluff overlooking Narragansett Bay. The sunsets are beautiful here and were something we looked forward to seeing every night. Right outside the property is a marina. If you are a boater this is an ideal location. We brought our boat and could see it moored right outside our window. The house itself has all the amenities you could need. There is a nice living room which is a great place to hang out with friends and family and the kitchen has everything you need to make a nice meal. We saved quite a bit on our vacation by making most of our meals at the house. There is a newly updated basement with new washer and dryer. The bedrooms are comfortable and one of them has a beautiful view of the bay. It was nice waking up every morning to see the moored boats (ours included) swaying in the breeze. The yard is big and a great place for playing outdoor games with the kids. Don't forget to try out the hammock. One thing about this location that we really appreciated is that it is on the western, quieter side of Jamestown. The main drag is only a short walk or bike ride away. Also Newport is a short 15 min drive. For us it was the best of all worlds. One last thing to mention about the property is the owner. Will was a great host. We had zero issues with this well maintained property and if I had a question he would answer instantly. Also our security deposit was returned promptly after we left. The bottom line is that for us this is the perfect house to rent when we are in the Newport/Jamestown area. We will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed this house. It's on the quiet (west) side of the island, though next door to a busy boatyard. But if you enjoy boats and their attendant activities, it's perfect. It was wonderful to be able to launch kayaks from the yard, and to have such easy access to the water for swimming, especially during a very warm week. The house was very clean and well-equipped, and we appreciated the fresh flowers the housekeeper left for us. This was our first visit to Jamestown, and we enjoyed biking, kayaking, swimming and golf (at the local course). We recommend Trattoria Simpatico for dinner, the Shack (next door at the boatyard) for lunch, and Slice of Heaven for morning coffee and a muffin, but the other island eateries are unimpressive. Take advantage of the Newport ferry and eat across the bay, or shop at McQuade's (the local market) and eat in. Watching the sunset from the house is as good a view as you'll get anywhere.
