Experience Bohemian Sophistication in Portland

Elevate your next visit to Portland by staying in this stylish freshly renovated 1922 Craftsman bungalow, where bohemian charm meets modern comfort. This home is filled with thriving plants that bask in the abundant sunlight, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. Unwind on the large front porch, or the cozy backyard deck, complete with twinkling lights and a grill—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the city.

Prime Location

Located in the desirable Overlook neighborhood, you’re just minutes away from several of Portlands many eclectic and endearing neighborhoods.
You’re just five blocks from the burgeoning food/bar scene on N Killingsworth, and a short 3-5 minute drive to Mississippi Ave or Alberta St., two of Portland’s most vibrant dining and shopping districts.
If you’re like us, your day starts with coffee.
Thankfully you’re nestled near many excellent coffee houses: Albina Press (a 10-minute walk) and Stacks Coffeehouse (an 8-minute walk) are two of my favorites… (but Albina Press is our absolute go to ;).

Living Room

Enjoy a cozy night in with a cracking fire or a movie playing on the 46-inch Roku TV. Two couches and two oversized chairs are perfect for reading or kicking back while listening to records on the Bluetooth enabled record player.
The large dining table is great for board games, or if you need to get some work done, there’s a desk and 5G WiFi available as well.

Kitchen

No trip to Portland is complete without indulging in great food, and our fully equipped kitchen is ready to help you create culinary goodness. The kitchen features a double oven, food processor, toaster, coffee maker, spices, Bodum electric kettle, teas, microwave, Ninja blender, rice cooker, crockpot, and a KitchenAid stand mixer for your baking needs. A bonus: there’s filtered water right at the sink!
New Seasons, one of Portland’s favorite grocers, (and ours), is just a 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away. Please note, there are ice trays provided but no ice maker.

Bedrooms

When it’s time to rest, choose from four cozy ZINUS green tea memory foam beds with pillow toppers and plenty of pillows -two queens and a twin roll out bed.
The main floor bedroom stays quite dark late into the morning, while the upstairs catch the morning sun and south for a peekaboo view of the West Hills. The white sofa in the living room moonlights as an additional twin bed if needed.

Bathrooms

Each floor has a full bathroom. The downstairs bathroom includes a bathtub and blow dryer, while the upstairs bathroom features a large shower underneath an opening skylight. Both bathrooms are stocked with eucalyptus body wash and organic shampoo/conditioner.

Laundry

Laundry facilities located in the basement.
Ecos detergent and dryer sheets provided.
While the basement isn’t a finished basement, it’s well-lit and easy to navigate.

Family & Pet-Friendly

We welcome families with children and provide a pack-and-play, a Graco fold-up high chair, and baby gates. Please note that the house is not child-proofed, so supervision is necessary. We’re also pet-friendly, allowing one dog up to 50 lbs. For additional pets or larger dogs, please reach out to me.

Explore Portland

When you’re ready to explore, hop on the yellow line MAX train or catch the bus just two blocks away.
Visit the world-famous Powell’s City of Books, explore the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, or hit a food cart after a hike through Forest Park (seen from the upstairs bedroom window), the largest wooded urban park in the U.S.

My 2 teen kids and I had a really nice stay. The space was clean and full of light. Having so many plants around was amazing. Great water pressure and heating systems. Having a dedicated driveway/parking space was incredible for loading/unloading especially during the holiday. Very convenient location and access to the freeway. Beds very comfortable. This is a great find and we appreciated the opportunity to stay here.

Good location. We walked to the train and saw a show at the Moda. All very easy. The home was well maintained and stocked. The seating and bedding were too firm for some of us.

Stayed here for a girls weekend with 4 of my friends and it was the perfect spot! The house is decorated so well, and multiple people said it was the nicest Vrbo they’ve stayed in. We very much enjoyed the outside space too! The location was great - very easy to get to downtown and was close to other fun streets/areas in Portland. The host was also very communicative and friendly with me as I was trying to add an extra night! Would definitely stay here again!

We had an amazing stay at Janell’s place! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at ease—the house is even cooler in person than it looks in the photos (which is saying something!). It’s filled with gorgeous, thoughtfully placed plants that give every room a serene, welcoming vibe. Even the jasmine out back was in bloom and so fragrant.Janell was incredibly responsive and helpful with every question we had, and the house guide was clear and easy to follow. The location was perfect—close to everything we wanted to explore, but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. Our whole family was super comfortable here and loved the relaxed energy of the space. It was such a memorable stay, and we’d absolutely come back again. Thank you, Janell, for creating such a special spot!

House had everything our family needed in a quiet neighborhood. Our boys enjoyed the records and turntable. Having a driveway parking spot was a huge plus as well. The door code did not work initially but Janell was able to get it working quickly and provided us a gift card to a great local coffee shop to make up for the mixup. Will definitely stay here again if we make our way back to Portland.

My girlfriends and I loved staying here; the home was so intentionally curated with attention to detail in every room. The beds were very comfortable, the linens and pillows felt luxurious, and the house was well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I personally loved the breakfast nook as it was the perfect place to sip tea and read in the morning. The assortment of records was fantastic, essential oil humidifiers in multiple rooms in the house were such a nice touch, and the plants throughout the home looked like something out of a magazine - absolutely stunning. Honestly we all wished that we extended our trip as we loved the home so much. Janell was very communicative and responsive from before booking all the way through to the end of our trip, and was even gracious enough to let us store our luggage for a few hours before our flight, which allowed us to squeeze in a hike without worrying about our luggage. The neighborhood felt safe and very walkable, with friendly neighbors and people walking their dogs throughout the day. We felt safe enough to sleep with windows open for fresh air. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend earplugs, as the neighbor across the street has loud motorcycles that they reved up each morning of our stay. This home is a 10/10 for adults- not sure I would recommend for families with small children due to the stairs and look but don't touch decor.

I never wanted to leave! So I suppose that's a pro AND a con... It's hard to go back home after you've been staying at the absolute idealized version of where you want to live. I needed somewhere to stay after a medical procedure, that had space for me to recover, for my partner to have his own time and for our dog to be happy and safe. We all loved it here! I don't think I've ever had a vacation rental I loved this much. Janelle was fantastic, communicative and willing to jump through so many hoops with VRBO to help us stay one additional night (which shouldn't have been as difficult as it was, through the website). I can't recommend this home highly enough.

It is obvious from the moment you walk through the doors of this home, that Janell & co. have put a siginificant amount of thought and passion into updating, designing, and caring for this property. It has such a fun vibe, and we felt like we were living in an episode of Portlandia. The motif of the home is decidedly vintage-cool, but also exceptionally cozy. It was a great fit for our part of two coupes - and we felt that we could spread out on our respective floors, but also come together in common spaces and enjoy the ambiance of the place. And don’t get me started on the plants! So many beautiful plants! Great location with access to freeways not far.
