The Recycled House - Walk Downtown

Its hard to capture how cool this place is in the photos. It was the perfect place to hang between shows while we were in town for Billy Strings.

We had a great time at The Recycled House. It was near all of the shops and restaurants. It was the perfect location for a quick getaway!

So lovely, everything was perfect. Very cozy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the recycled house (such a unique and cool place). Debra is a fabulous host and we absolutely enjoyed her house tour. The property's location is very convenient to attractions and shopping. We highly recommend it.

Debra was a great host. The house is one of a kind and very conveniently located for walking to shops and restaurants on the downtown mall, or picking up the free trolley.

House was very unique and I had a wonderful stay. House is conveniently close to the downtown mall. Lots of sunlight in all rooms. Furnishings were up-to-date. Bathrooms were large and clean. Really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen with foil, ziploc bags and everything you might need. Chocolate chip cookies left by the owner were delicious! Communication with the owner Debra was always prompt. I enjoyed the house tour and walk through so I knew where everything was. The listing does mention that the stairs are steep and yes they were. The full bath is upstairs so if you are older or have knee problems please take this into consideration.

Everything about this house was wonderful! The Beams, windows, trim and other pieces of recycled material were perfectly placed and visually awesome! We were always discovering another treasure! The design was well thought out making the house very livable. We had everything we needed! We will be back! Thank you Debra.

The house is charming and visually interesting. It was only a short walk to the downtown walk area so it was nice to not have to worry about the car for a few days. 4 adults slept very comfortably in the space. The stairs to the upstairs portion was a little steep for those who have limited mobility.

Debra is the quintessential hostess, eager to give us the history and background of her unique property, but also very helpful with a dentist recommendation when my wife lost a filling. The house is filled with charm, comfy, and welcoming. A well stocked kitchen and bathroom areas with all the little incidentals. A short walk to downtown. We would definitely return.

Debra was an absolutely, amazing host!!! We started off with a bonus tour of the home in which she showed us all of the unique attributes of the home, including where all of the materials were derived and really neat stories behind each piece. It is such an extremely cool and unique story! We would stay here again in a second. We love Charlottesville and this is now our go to place to stay.

We loved the recycled house and Debra was such an amazing host! We loved seeing all of the creative touches and ways that recycled parts were used to make a unique and beautiful rental. The house was comfortable and bigger than I expected. Our two boys slept on the pull out couch in the loft area, which was surprisingly comfortable. The loft area is open to the downstairs so that is important to know if you are traveling with kids that are light sleepers (ours are not, so it wasn't an issue). The location is an easy walk to the downtown area. I would highly recommend the Recycled House!

The recycle house was in a great location walking distance from all downtown attractions. The hone is unique and interesting. Debra was gracious and gave us a history of her passion project. We loved it.

Debra was a fantastic host - it's so refreshing to stay at a property not run by a management company! Debra welcomed us with a tour of the unique house she's built, delicious chocolate chip cookies, and freshly ground local coffee. The location is great - four easy blocks to walk to the Downtown Mall, but a quiet neighborhood. The second living room space is a loft area across from the master bedroom suite on the second floor.

I’ve never stayed at a more interesting accommodation anywhere. The place is truly unique and is a clean, well run, enjoyable experience. Debra was attentive from the get go when she met and walked us through this very interesting property. The place is well equipped, comfortable and I recommend it to anyone looking for an accommodation a few short blocks walk to the town center where you will find restaurants, entertainment, shops galore. So glad I found this gem!

The house is such an interesting accomplishment of art and design, while also being comfortable. The extra touch of coffee and cookies was nice and the host was responsive. It is tucked in a quiet neighborhood yet a very short (and safe) walk to the downtown mall. That’s exactly what we were looking for.. we look forward to returning.

Debra is a most excellent host! She has lots of tips about local restaurants and attractions. The location of the Recycled House is great: just blocks from the downtown outdoor mall where we ate most meals. The house is charming, cozy and comfortable and Debra went out of her way to be sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

The Recycled House is a wonderful choice if you’re looking for a comfortable and unique house in Charlottesville. The materials and construction methods that Debra used are unlike any other. Easy walk to the Downtown Mall. Experience everything Charlottesville has to offer on foot or within less than 10 minutes’ drive!

The Recycled House is amazing and Debra is an absolute pleasure! We really enjoyed her tour and listening to the backstory of the house. The location is convenient to walking to shops and restaurants and a quick Uber to local vineyards. Look forward to coming back.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights during our daughter's wedding in Charlottesville, and it was perfect for us. Debra met us upon check-in and gave us a great tour of her amazingly unique property. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped and very cozy, the home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is a convenient 5 minute walk to the mall and all that it offers. One of the best VRBO properties we have ever stayed in. Debra, thank you for building a home with such character and sharing it with others!
