Cortez, Colorado
The Oliver House is located within the historic Goodman Point area and sits on the family farm with expansive views in all directions. The home, built in 1965, is in its original state and is well kept, clean, and provides an authentic rural SW Colorado experience. This 1600 sq. ft. home has three bedrooms, one bath, a spacious living area, fire place, full kitchen, dining room, and full service laundry room. Enjoy the solitude as you watch the sun rise over the beautiful LaPlata Mountains, and the sun set over Utah’s Blue Mountains. The Sleeping Ute Mountain is close by to the south and the Lone Cone in the distance to the north. Depending on the season, bare witness to tractors working ground in the fields and livestock grazing in the pastures
Located on a sparsely populated paved country road, the house is 1 mile from the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument Sand Canyon Trail Head. Enjoy riding your ATV or mountain bike on the dirt roads and trails within the Monument or take a hike on the Sand Canyon Trail in search of Puebloan ruins. The house is located two hours from Moab, Utah and Telluride, CO, one hour from Mesa Verde National Park, and less then an hour from the San Juan National Forest. Within a 30 minute drive there are boating and fishing opportunities on Narraguinnep and McPhee reservoirs, and world class single track mountain biking at Phil’s World and Boggy Draw trail systems.
The possibilities are endless, but the main attraction might just be the quiet solitude of real country living. We look forward to having you visit. Just drive carefully and watch for the local deer population on your way to the Oliver House.
Wonderful hospitality, clean and well equipped personal home with everything you need. Amazing views of countryside and walk to canyons of the ancients was cool. A bit of a drive to downtown Cortez, it was very quiet and private. Special bonus was a call from owner that they were moving cows through the intersection so we sat on porch and watched the cowhands.
This is a charming rural house, authentically vintage. Very quiet.
We loved our stay at the Oliver house. Everything was as described and Kelly was very easy to work with. Depending on your activities, the house is a bit out of the way from the main highway. For us it was fine, but do map it so you know ahead of time. We would recommend Oliver house to friends. Thanks Kelly!
The view was magnificent and can’t be beat. Quiet and peaceful. Would recommend to anyone!
This house was a wonderful place to get away and relax. A beautiful 360degree view, acreage, farming, mountains, paved roads, quiet, and comfortable. The house is furnished with everything you need. Owners live not far in case you need anything and are super nice to deal with. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. It was perfect! Not far from Cortez and Dolores, plenty of things to see and do in the area. It was a pleasure!
Beautiful country home out on the farm. Peaceful and quiet, gorgeous sunrise and sunsets. Stars at night by the millions.
The house was wonderful...clean, nicely furnished, contained anything you would need. So glad we stayed!
We loved staying at the Oliver house. Kelly was a wonderful host. The house was roomy enough for 6 people. The house was clean and well stocked of misc items. When we walked thru the door it felt like coming home. Was very nice to have washer/dryer on the property. The view was awesome. Horses out the back, deer running thru the field, closest neighbor 1/4 mile away. Close enough to Cortez for groceries, eat out etc. Would highly recommend staying at the Oliver house. You won’t be disappointed!!
So amazing, I cant say enough good words about our family's experience at this house. We spent 4th of July here and fire works were visible in all directions. So many National Parks are accessible from this location. Kelly, the host, was very helpful and offered many great recommendations for holiday activities, and adventures around the house. We cant wait to return for another visit, the property is such a gem in this area.
Our family has stayed at many VRBOs and I can't think of one that compares to the Oliver House. We are in the process of moving our family from Oregon to Texas and it's been a rough process to say the least. We arrived at the Oliver House the day that our moving truck, with all of our worldly possessions, had been stolen from our hotel parking lot in Salt Lake City. We were so comforted by the reminders of God's goodness and grace that we found all over the house. I was also very moved by the honor that was clearly given to the people that had built the house many years ago. The house was incredibly clean but also very notably a sanctuary of faith and love. When we had to leave a day early to drive back to Salt Lake to retrieve our truck and what was left of our possessions that had been recovered by the police, Kelly was kind enough to refund our money for the night we were unable to stay. This was her idea and was both unexpected and very generous. I hope that you will find the same peace at the Oliver House that our family found.
Clean & Comfortable Farm House. We used this house as a base for exploring the Ancient ruins all around the four corners area. Too much to see in one trip. We will be back.
