The beautiful Balmy Alley House

Excellent house. Very clean, large, comfortable and in walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, stores. Enjoyed our stay.

We were satisfied with the cleanliness, our host is awesome, great shopping options, and excellent kitchen set up.

Since selling our family home, our family rents relatively often. This was one of the most pleasant of our experiences. The house is just as you see in the photos. It has a really nice warm and spiritually inviting vibe and when looking out the window, you're surrounded by wonderfully creative and vibrant street art. We stumbled into this great rental and its fabulous location by chance and absolutely loved it. Our host, John, was terrific! Very easy going, flexible and responsive to any question. The house, which John built himself, is perfectly set up by the separation of social areas (kitchen & living) from the bedrooms. He's thought of every detail, ie, comfy mattresses, plush pillows, large towels and rainfall shower heads with good solid water pressure. The neighborhood has some fun eateries and taking in the Mission District Street Art and accompanying Latin vibe made our trip for a family wedding, an unexpected extra delight. Thank you John for your warm hospitality. If you're able to rent this home, count your blessings!

The Alley House is not just a great place to stay, it is an EXPERIENCE. The Alley itself is a tourist spot for its murals… the house is beautiful, totally unique and supplies all you need to R&R, cook and explore. I hope you joy it as much as we did.

Enjoyed how authentic the neighborhood was. Enjoyed listening to collection of music and browsing books with our adult kids. Great location, restaurants, close to BART. Super comfortable and spacious. Love it and highly recommend.

We can't say enough good about the beautiful Balmy House. Excellent location - a wonderful, classic SF neighborhood with shops, restaurants and a lively street life - but super quiet on Balmy Alley. The house is charming, beautiful, comfortable and incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a memorable stay. We recommend highly!

The property was amazing for me and my friends the house is so nice you won’t even want to leave. Me and my friends had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. With public transit close by you can go anywhere in the city. Lots of cafes and stores near by for all your needs. Would absolutely book again. I would give this place 100 stars if I could.

Great stay

We spent a long weekend at the beautiful Balmy Alley House. The pictures accurately represent the accommodations; although house was roomier than it appears in the pictures. The space was perfect for 3 couples, but would also work for families. Check-in and out was smooth. Location was wonderful with easy access to public transportation and excellent restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops.

This was the best VRBO we’ve ever stayed in. Listing is super accurate, location perfect and John was amazing to work with. Ran into a few issues with VRBO and John was so patient. The layout of the home was perfect for our teenager to have his own space downstairs. Comfortable bedding, beautiful artwork…truly beautiful energy in the home. Record collection was superb along with the swinging chair in the living room, so fun for everyone. Enchanting patio/garden. Quick walk to anything you could need or want. Deep bath was so cool! Well stocked house, didn’t need to buy a thing. We did the Painted Ladies VW tour and it fit right in to the feeling of being transported back to the summer of love. Only issue was—-we had to leave? hope to come back within the year! Thanks so much John for sharing your piece of paradise with us!!
