The Beach Hive | 1570 ft to the beach | Private Pool, Hot Tub, and Dog Friendly

Pros:Beds were comfortable. There were plenty of dishes, pots, and pans. Hot tub worked great and the beach was close and easy to access.Cons:Location: Even with the windows shut, highway noise is constant and loud. The master bedrooms on both floors face the roadside, so traffic noise is unavoidable. The first days the weather was gorgeous and we would have liked to open the windows but again, the noise was too much. Amenities:Only very basic amenities were provided. The kitchen had no hand soap, dishwashing liquid, salt, or pepper. When renting you generally expect some basic “home” comforts, extra blankets, throws, etc., but none were supplied. The blanket that were downstairs were more like a storage blanket and not for comfort.Be prepared to bring everything you need or plan on buying it after arrival.Cornhole boards were listed as an amenity but were not available during our stay. Check-out Instructions:The arrival email stated that all dishes needed to be washed and reshelved before the 10 a.m. checkout. Most rentals allow guests to simply load the dishwasher and leave. Then, at 10:19 a.m. on the day of checkout, after the checkout time, we received another email saying to just load, set, and run the dishwasher instead. It would have been helpful to know this earlier so we wouldn’t have had to hand-wash the breakfast dishes to comply with the original instructions.All in all, we enjoyed are stay but would not choose to stay again.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was great, rooms, spacious, etc. My dog enjoyed outside walks and walking out on the patio located off the bedroom. Due to the Noreaster, we never got to utilize the pool or outside areas. We stayed indoors and got to experience the storm firsthand. I would stay in this particular house again. It was very nice. Also, when we needed maintenance to come, Robert was there timely and fixed our issue right away.

Everything was good. Wing across the street from the fire dept not ideal with babies. And being ON Croatan Road was loud as well. Everything else was really nice!

The beach house in Kill Devil Hills, OBX, THE BEACH HIVE, is a very nice home. The owners are kind enough to allow vacationers to bring their dog(s) to the beach!! The house was clean, with fresh sheets and towels. *** The big fenced-in yard was covered with dog poop. Big turds everywhere! We filled a bag that had to weigh about 10lbs!! I did let the management company know, OUTER BANK BLUES. I clean up minutes after my fur baby goes to the bathroom. I feel sorry for the poor dog who had to tip-toe around their poop because the owner are too lazy to pick it up. This is very disrespectful to the homeowners' property. These are the individuals that ruin it for PET-FRIENDLY properties. I suggest that upon checking out, the vacationers must send photos of the yard, a clean yard!!! RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY! Location is great- close to beach and all shops/restaurants across the street. It is directly on the main road, so there is some traffic noise, but the main porch is at the back of the house so it did not really bother us. Pool and hot tub were clean. House had everything we needed for a lovely stay and the fenced in yard was spectacular for the dog.
