This place is pure magic! It felt like going back to a simpler, happier time. We all left looking at our calendars, wondering when we could return!

The cottage is a historical classic, right in the heart of Carmel. The place is close to the best of everything that Carmel has to offer but the place is so cozy you'll find it hard to leave.

We stay every year and it feels like home. It's perfect for our family. The location is great, we have rooms for the kids, the beds are comfortable, and everything we need is there. The home has a lot of history and the interior is so typical Carmel. The owner and property manager are very responsive.The front yard allows for outside seating and the garden is so pretty and spacious. We'd recommend for anyone looking to stay in Carmel.

Great experience

This is a historically significant home with modern appliances, much space, a beautiful garden, and a short walk to the ocean. This is our second stay and, if in the future we plan to spend time in Carmel, we'll try for a third.

This charming, eclectic cottage with a beautiful garden surrounding the entry. We woke up with the sunrise and fell asleep to the sound of the ocean. It is a mile walk into town with easy access to Carmel Beach, only a 5-7 minute walk away, depending on your route. My only caution is that the beds are somewhat soft. My husband and I prefer much firmer beds for our backs. We would rent again. If you like old charming cottages, then this is definitely the place for you.

A great mix of the old and the new. 100 year old redwood house with a few quirks you would expect e.g. no heat in the bathroom! And antique bureau drawers that can be tricky to open. But also upgrades to the current times: gas range, tiny little dishwasher and microwave in the sweet galley kitchen. Big washer & dryer. Beautiful garden outside with a lovely patio table perfect for sunny day lunches, of which we enjoyed several. You can watch the birds in the garden while you have your breakfast. Beautiful rugs. Very comfy. It was clean and very inviting and comfortable. If we come back to Carmel, we would definitely see if this lovely spot were available for another stay.

Lovely, charming, well kept.

This was our third year in Carmel and it is just the greatest place to stay at for the three visits but it seems next year has already been booked by others so we are disappointed to not return for 2025. But for those who have not experienced ‘The Cottage’ it is great.

Very relaxing and peaceful

We love staying here. We can escape the heat back home, enjoy the walks to the beach, sit inside or outside for meals or walk into Carmel for a meal at a restaurant. The beds are comfy, the place has everything you'd need and we have no complaints. We'll be back next year.
