Stayed Jul 15, 2025This was a perfect getaway vacation house. Very well appointed and very comfortable and fun.The location was exceptional. While you're just a block from 2 main roads (17th avenue, Portola avenue) you're also hidden away, down a nice long and private driveway.It is also a perfect central location to head to downtown or the westside, or toward Capitola and beyond using either Portola or Brommer.We loved being so close to the ocean and definitely enjoyed not only getting in the water but watching the surfers and sunsets and sea birds!There were also a bunch of classic beach cruiser bicycles which we enjoyed for local rides along the coast and up to Capitola Village.Lastly there were several excellent eating spots within just a couple of blocks (a true Italian market and deli called Bottega del Lago, Perrico's taqueria, and Lago di Como). A little further up the road our new favorite restaurant (around 38th and Portola) is Suda, with classic California cuisine. Gayle's in Capitola is always a favorite as well. And ONE MORE: there is a fantastic Farmers Market just a couple of blocks away on Sunday mornings.

Stayed Dec 31, 2024Where to start? With one minor problem during the month and both hosts jumped in to help and make sure everything was OK. My wife and I are retired and with more leisure time we like to walk. This is a great location for that several local beaches, a deli, a convience store, a Mexican Bakery and several great restraints are all within a reasonable walk. Downtown Santa Cruz, the Boardwalk, and West Cliff drive (very scenic) are all a short drive away. If you are more adventuresome then Monterrey, Camel and even Big Sur make for a great trip south along the bay. If you want to head north then Half Moon Bay and even San Francisco can be wonderful day trips. Location, location, location. Stayed Apr 25, 2024This home has a fun, comfy beach vibe. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed during our visit. The home is clean yet casual and perfect for hanging out with family and friends. We walked to the beach daily! The hosts are helpful and friendly.

Stayed Dec 18, 2021This very comfortable home is tucked away on a cul-de-sac off a quiet street. The beach was within a ten minute walking radius, as were coffee shops, restaurants and a Sunday farmer's market. There is a funky beach shack vibe, but with lots of comfortable amenities. We were especially happy that the property was pet friendly.
