Bakersville, North Carolina
Beautiful and spacious home with incredible views of the mountains, creek and treetops that has relaxing king size beds in all four bedrooms! Just a few short miles from Roan High Knob, where you will find the highest-elevation shelter on the entire Appalachian Trail. About an hour from shopping in Asheville, two ski resorts, Boone, a natural hot spring, Banner Elk, and more! Relaxation at its best nestled in the mountains of NC.
The home is a two story, 3,400 square feet log cabin with a tin roof situated on acres of rolling hills with a rocky creek running alongside. You will be greeted by nearly 1,100 square foot of wrap-around covered porch, and a small open deck space, with five gated step entrances leading into the large yard. Rocking chairs and two porch swings make the perfect touch for enjoying coffee in the morning and taking in the sunrise over the mountains, or a glass of wine in the evenings watching the sun disappear. On clear nights, you will have a breathtaking view of the starry sky, and the only sound you will hear is the creek rushing over the rocks! Winter often brings some fantastic sled riding right in the front yard!
The first level offers an open floor plan featuring a spacious kitchen, dining room, and a sitting area with a couch, two recliners, and a gas log fireplace. The kitchen is fully outfitted with all major appliances as well as some extras – dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster, and KitcheAid stand mixer with attachments. Pots, pans, dinnerware, glassware, cooking utensils, and flatware are also provided. The dining table comfortably seats 8, and there are 3 additional seats at the kitchen counter breakfast area. There are two bedrooms on this level, including the master with private full bath with shower. The second bedroom has a full bath with a claw-foot bathtub and can be accessed from the bedroom or kitchen. A small room off of the kitchen provides a high-efficiency, front-loading washer and dryer and extra storage space. Up the stairs to the second level is a loft with comfortable couch for lounging and loveseat. On either end of the loft are the other two bedrooms, both with private full baths. Linens are provided. There is cable TV in all 4 bedrooms and the living room loft. In addition you will find a smart TV in the kitchen and the master bedroom. The living room loft also has a DVD player with access to streaming options for your entertainment, and a desk with a printer for those who may need to stay in touch with school or work during their stay.
The house is situated next to the woods, so you may see some wildlife out and about (turkeys, pigs, deer, rabbits, groundhogs, etc...). Short drive to Carver's Gap, white water rafting, gem mining, or just about whatever adventure you desire. In the winter months 4WD/AWD is highly advised. We cannot guarantee clear roads or driveway during periods of snow.
This was our fourth year staying at the cabin, and as always it was a great experience. This cabin has everything you need, including a fully stocked kitchen, but without all the clutter in every corner that I find so many other cabins have. We travel with small children and love that this cabin has plenty of space for the kids to set out their toys and play and multiple options to put up a pack n play as well! The huge sloping yard is a great draw, we play in that all hours of the day, and the proximity to our favorite trails on Roan mountain is wonderful. Jason and Gerri have been fabulous to communicate with and are very thoughtful. We really enjoy staying at their cabin!
Trying to find a cabin that is motorcycle accessible can be a challenge in the mountains. This cabin had a driveway with a slight grade, very manageable. The cabin was perfect for us ... 4 couples. Each had a bedroom with a king bed and private bath. Very comfortable after riding all day. Beautiful property!
Peaceful and serene. Views are absolutely amazing. Definitely recommended to get away from reality!
The home was great, but we had several friends fall on the deck, there was no warning to let us know there was a step down. And Towels were few and thin.
We had such a great time staying here. Everyone loved it. The only negative thing that happened to us while we were there was a heavy thunderstorm knocked out the power for about an hour, but but it really wasn't all that negative, as we enjoyed each other's company more and got to listen to the rain as it fell on the metal roof. Would definitely recommend a stay here to anyone. 5 stars!
My spouse and both our sets of parents stayed in this gorgeous home—we just wish we could have stayed longer! The covered porch and deck were lovely places to gather and linger outside, and all our communications with Jason were prompt and informative, inviting extra questions about tennis courts in the area. We were thankful to have this time to rest in such a beautiful place.
Fantastic location, beautiful home , and perfect for extended family trips ! 4BR 4 FULL BATH ! We can't wait to return
Everything was clean and well kept. Had a small issue with shower leaking in one bedroom but host was very good with communication.
Everything was well maintained and beautiful property!
Nice large Cabin with a mountain creek and beautiful views.
We had a wonderful trip to this area of the mountains. The house and grounds were fantastic, beautiful stream the kids played in, fire pit. The house was very comfortable, especially the beds. It was nice not to have he TV downstairs and in the loft, we did puzzles, talked, rocked on the porch and were just together. Be advised it is on a twisty mountain road but easy to navigate in good weather. We were lucky enough to get a dusting of snow one night and they even had sleds for the kids to slide down the hill. You have a lovely home and we all had a great time. We hiked Roan Mountain and were exhausted after and was nice to have a long soak in the big bathtub.
Terrible weather created problems but host responded quickly. Accurate description of property. Well equipped kitchen. Great location and cabin.
Very nice place lots of room had everything we needed for cooking over all Great place
A windy road to get there, but worth every second! This property offers everything you can ask for. 3 couples stayed on site and we had room to spend together and the space to have our own time. Amazing views, comfy furniture and a home that felt like home - relaxing and tranquil. Looking forward to returning! Hosts were responsive and customer focused.
Thank you for helping us create a very special weekend for our family. Your home is so tranquil with the beautiful views, creek and the best front porch ever! The rooms were large; beds comfortable; and the kitchen was well equipped. At night you can see the stars and hear the nature sounds so well. In most places that's a lost peace in our modern world. We will come back again in the future.
What an amazing location! From the lovely home, to the peaceful sounds of the creek, to the incredible quiet, to the wonderful relaxation afforded by a few hours on the covered porch resting in the hammock, this place is ideal! We did spend one day at the convenient hiking on a part of the Appalachian Trail and rode into Bakersville for a few meals, but having to leave the cabin for just a few hours was hard! If you are looking for a stress-free vacation, this is the place you want to stay. We will return!
Very clean and well-equipped property with a beautiful mountain setting. The house is wonderful with en-suite baths for all bedrooms. The creek is peaceful and relaxing. A wonderful and spacious getaway!
The cabin is fantastic and the property is out of this world!
Our group of 6 consistently commented on how much we felt like the rental was home for us. The amenities including the washer/dryer, air conditioning, amazingly comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, hammock/swings/chairs on the porch... it was a little slice of heaven for us! Jason could not have been more accommodating and responsive. It was a really awesome retreat! Highly recommend ?
Indoors, this property was clean and spacious, with a private full bath off each of the four bedrooms. Outdoors, this property exceeded our lofty expectations. We loved the wrap around porch with swings, hammocks and rocking chairs; the creek was fun to explore and generated a white noise that was very pleasant. The kitchen was well stocked for the moderate cooking we did every day. The washing machine and dishwasher worked well. The location was about an half hour drive to many attractions. (We tubed on the Toe River with NCOA and panned for gems at Rio Doce as well as hiking at Linville Falls and Carver's Gap.)
Beautiful house that is perfect for extended family groups ! 4 bed 4 bath !! Very comfy mattresses. Only 10 min to Roan Mountain gardens and Appalachian trail over Carvers Gap. We visited Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, Banner Elk, Little Switzerland ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND) , Grassy Creek Falls, Elk River Falls. Ashville and The Biltmore . All 30-60 minutes away ! Definitely will be back ! The house was stocked with everything you could think of and has a fire pit by a little waterfall right on the property!
