Bakersville, North Carolina
Eagles Nest is perched 3600 ft high with amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and clouds dancing between the peaks. The setting is a perfect venue to go for walks, fishing, take in mother nature, or simply decompress. Cathedral ceilings, gas brick fireplace and details like log pillars in the loft add to the charm without sacrificing the everyday modern conveniences of a newer home. Close to Bakersville, Spruce Pine, Burnsville, Blue Ridge Pkwy and just over an hour from Asheville. There is a flat screen HD TV, desk, lazy boy and rocking chair flanking the fireplace along with a futon/couch. Enjoy the gourmet kitchen with a coffee bar, five burner gas stove, dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer with an ice maker, granite countertops and custom cabinetry. The large covered porch spans the back of the house, offering front row seats to the mountain ranges and in the morning, the smoking cloud formations between the peaks. There are Adirondack chairs, and a gas grill for cooking and table and chairs for dining al fresco. The Primary bedroom is off the great room and features a white cedar king size bed, flat screen tv and an en suite bath with two pedestal sinks. Upstairs, you will find a loft bedroom with two twin beds, a full bath, and a high top table with chairs in front of a window featuring panoramic views of the mountains. There's also a cozy built in cushioned bench overlooking the hot tub and woods. The lower level has a king size bed, full bath and a table for card playing, games or anything else. The front porch is a great place to take in some of the wooded grounds, or head directly to the 5 person hot tub cantilevered to soak in the views or a bit further down the slope you will find our custom built fire pit. The serene and private community has lots of meandering roads and trails to take in the beauty of the mountains, walk the dogs, or simply hike in solitude and likely not see another person.
The entire home and grounds are there for your enjoyment. Other things to note, although it's fairly easy to reach Eagles Nest, please keep in mind the roads are gravel for most of the way up the mountain. In icy or snowy conditions, we would suggest all wheel drive or four wheel vehicles only. Otherwise, it's a lot of hairpin turns but navigable.
Please note we are pet friendly but we do charge a $100 non refundable pet fee.
This cabin was just was we was looking for. It had everything we needed. We went for a hike and had several good times cooking outside and grilling. The view was beautiful. Would definitely love to go back to this amazing cabin.
Our visit to Eagles Nest was Great! The cabin is lovely, very comfortable and Clean. The views are pretty spectacular too! The location is isolated which we liked but if you aren’t comfortable with being in the middle of nowhere this cabin is not for you. The road to the cabin is challenging, we had an SUV so handled it but it is a climb and the road is a mixture of dirt and gravel. The hosts were attentive and communication was very good. I hope to visit again!
We truly enjoyed our mountain getaway. Location was excellent for enjoying what the local towns had to offer, yet enjoy the peace and quiet and take in nature. House had everything we needed as well.
We had a great 3 night stay at Jeffery's home. He answered any questions that he had prior to our stay and checked on us via message just to make sure we had everything we needed. We hiked at Carvers Gap 2 of our days and then soaked in the hot tub in the afternoon. We grocery shopped at Ingles snd grilled out on the covered deck which has a beautiful view. The beds are comfy as well as the furniture. We had everything we could need and more. We would definitely book this house again and again. Thank you !!
I searched for a mountain house that was peaceful with great views and hiking. This was the perfect choice for my wife and I (and 2 dogs) to spend 3 nights. We spent the entire weekend doing nothing but relaxing on the deck, enjoying the spectacular view, & hiking the roads/trails.The solitude is hard to describe! I'm an early riser and watching/listening to the mountain wake up as the sun rose was amazing! Only 7 other homes are on the mountain (none within sight) and we only heard a couple of cars all weekend. House: Exactly as depicted and presented in the description. Amazing views! Peaceful. Very clean - though we brought some old towels to wipe the dogs' feet after walking the muddy trails. Well equipped. We cooked on the grill all 3 nights. Good wi-fi reception in all corners of the house. Verizon phone signal was strong, including on most of the trails on the mountain. Things to do: Relax! Hike, then relax in the hot tub to recover! Take the dogs to the community pavilion (5 minute walk) and toss the ball/Frisbee. Have a fire at night. As for hiking, it can be rigorous. You're on the side of a mountain - there are no flat trails. However, there are several miles of packed gravel main roads that are wide and smooth - but steep! Host: I've rented many VRBO homes - Jeff is the most responsive owner/host I've dealt with, by far. He answered all calls/texts/e-mails almost immediately every time! Note: AWD/FWD/4WD recommended. Rear wheel drive could be iffy when wet.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. The view from the back porch was spectacular. I would definitely stay here again.
