Semi-Oceanfront, Close to Beach Access, KD240, The Ocean Winds

My family of 4 stayed here for a week and were very happy with the house. Although older, it was well maintained and comfortable for us. The only complaint was the upper deck steps seem a little wobbly, nothing too concerning, but after the season, may want to look at them. Also, the outdoor shower door does not have a lock for it, so if you want to store beach items there, bring your own pad/combo lock. Beach access within walking distance and don't overlook Bonzer Shack right down the road. Food was excellent!

I would like to start with a positive note. The place was exactly what we needed, fit me my wife and our two kids perfectly. The location was also perfect, close to the beach, close to a bunch of restaurants and had a really nice view of the ocean. Now the negatives, the place has not been deep cleaned in Years. Walking around bare feet your feet turn black from dirt. The old food under the beds and couches my 2 year old was bringing to us constantly. The medicine(pill) my 2 year old brought to us on the first day from the master bathroom was shocking and made us look at everything a lot closer. The deck is super old and very sketchy, getting splinters on it was very easy and it wasn't safe leaning on the railings. We had an amazing week and the place did serve all our needs being a small family just the carpets need to be severely shampooed and the house to be cleaned better.

I expect a rental to be spotless upon arrival. The valances in the bedrooms and bathroom were caked in dust bunnies. One of the kids spilled water in the kitchen floor and when my husband wiped it up, thr papertowel was black from dirt. The master bathroom shower drained so slow that the water was well above my ankles by the time i finished showering. The wifi did not work the entire stay. Someone from the realty company showed up thursday afternoon to change a filter for the hvac system. I thought that was rude and disturbing. All of the outdoor furntiure was broken upon arrival. 1 towel per guest was inconvenient, but we knew that before arriving. Overall, the distance to beach access was perfect. For the price, I was far from disappointed. The house had many updates to furniture and decor that were not shown in the pictures.

I thought this house was a very good value. The house needs some updating and maintenance but overall we enjoyed our stay in the house. The washer, dryer and dishwasher are very loud. The house across the street does block your view of the ocean but that was fine with us. There is a place to eat and drink right by and a place to get ice cream is a short walk as well. There's a beach gear rental place just right down the road as well so that was convenient. The walk to the beach access is short but the climbing up and down the steps with all of your gear is rough. By the end of the week you are just dragging your gear down the steps instead of carrying it. We would rent this place again because of the value.

The house was sufficient but needs some interior updates. But overall enjoyed our time at OBX.

I doubt very seriously I would choose this Rental Company again and definitely not the house. The shower curtains were moldy to the point my husband bought one for us to use. I had to sweep the kitchen floor upon arrival to get the sand up. I found 2 vacuum cleaners to sweep sand and dust bunnies from the carpet, neither of which had a belt that worked so therefore, useless. The dryer was “waiting for a part to repair” and only worked on one selection, took repeated cycles to dry SMALL loads. None of the blinds worked, I had to manually raise and lower each blind individually. The lighting inside was terrible with several burnt bulbs and the porch lights weren’t working either. I also feel that in 2020, an upgrade on the TV wouldn’t hurt. While we had a great time and will surely use VRBO again, it will not be for what we experienced. I’m not being overly fussy but a homeowner and rental property should take a little more pride in what they’re renting.

Ideal little beach OBX cottage perfect for family of 6+! Great location Right off beach road and easy walk to public beach access! However the Beach view picture needs updating construction Of “Mini Hotel” was across the street in the empty lot. But still didn’t block The ocean so that’s was a plus! Over all great family trip!
