Mount Airy, North Carolina
This property is just 15 miles outside of Mt. Airy, NC and sits along side the beautiful Dan River. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths with a sleeping compacity of 12, but can handle more if needed.
The house has 3 stories and a garage. On the ground (main) floor, is a state of the art kitchen, dining room, den with fireplace, large deck (8 adirondack chairs) with a pergola, master bedroom, and 1.5 baths. We traveled to North Carolina for a 50th birthday party. We were in the area to visit one of our favorite local wineries, Jolo. The property was in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous view of the surrounding area and the river. The walk down to the river is a bit of a trek, but once you are there, it is quite peaceful. Working with Shane was easy. He responded to all of our questions and requests. He was close by on the property which was a little unusual. We sort of felt like we moved into his house that he had just moved out of. All in all, it was fine though. One quick tip, do not take the kayaks to the Flippin Road bridge and ride them back to the property. There is a 6 foot, dangerous drop off on the river on the way back. Two of our guys gave it a try and were fairly shook from the experience. When you do stay, make sure to stop and see the donkeys at the neighboring property on the way in. They love to see visitors.
The location was impressive. We were a group of 10 peoples. Once we enter the house , the feeling which we get was someone is actively living in the house , but move away to accommodate the guests. The refrigerator was full , not even a place in freezer to put your stuff. Everywhere in the house we can see that pattern. In the closets dresses in hangers. in Bathroom used brushes and used soap . That was totally unacceptable since we booked the entire house, 30 days in advance. I sent communication in Vrbo , didnt get any reply back . Closer by the check in date some one texted claiming the owner and answered the questions, i would expect all the communications with Vrbo platform. No wifi password was shared before hand. Once we reached the property , there was no connectivity for our mobile to call , and we have to go down couple of miles and text him requesting the wifi password( though it was on the welcome kit in the hall) , but never communicated. The location and house looks good , but the other things made it difficult.
We chose this as it was a good central location to get our family together for the weekend. Best thing was lots of adventure. Huge open space for kids to play in. Everyone had fun in the river, including the sons in law doing a polar plunge. Good hiking. very scenic. Just what we wanted. Only negatives were we didn't hear from the owner until 5 days before the trip, so we were getting nervous, and we had to mow the yard so the kids could play in it.
This property is absolutely beautiful. If privacy, peace and quiet are what you are looking for, THIS IS THE PLACE. We used this home for our Church Ladies Retreat. There is ample space to gather together and spend quiet time to ourselves. I would highly recommend this for any trip to the Mt Airy area. The property owner is very gracious and helpful (and patient with a group of ladies who probably bothered him more than others - lol). In a word - exceptional!!!
What an an amazing home and host! Shane is fantastic and very helpful with every step of the process. The cabin is wonderful. It has every amenity and then some! The time in the river is such a wonderful getaway but still close to home. This was our 2nd time there and it won't be our last!
Shane was absolutely a great host, if I had a question he would reply almost immediately The house is just beautiful and has enough space for a big family I would definitely recommend this place.
Great party for large family. Beautiful view out the back of the house. Felt like home away from home.
My husband officiated our niece's wedding at Moores Spring Manor in Westfield, NC. We did not want to stay in Winston Salem at a hotel, and this was perfect. Everyone was together. As we all had the same plans and events to attend. We grilled out the first night, walked to the river, enjoyed the scenery. After that, we were on the go with wedding events. The property is beautiful, very private, and very relaxing. Great place for a family reunion!
Would have liked to stay a whole week. House worked well with 7 adults and three small children. Nice outdoor spaces. Owner was excellent with communications and very helpful. Master bed was extremely comfortable.
Shane’s property is amazing! He’s extremely responsive and overall a great host.
