Stayed Sep 5, 2025We absolutely loved our stay at River's Edge Retreat! The house was perfect, spacious, sparkling clean, beautifully decorated, and the river view was just incredible. Having that peaceful river access was a huge plus. We spent so much time down there relaxing. It was the perfect getaway and we can't wait to come back.

Stayed Aug 8, 2025We stayed 5 nights and really enjoyed this home for our family. We have 4 grandchildren between the ages of 2-9 and adult children and their spouses and it was a great home for a family. The basement is perfect for many ages to enjoy. We wanted to enjoy the river water more, but there were many jelly fish while we were there. However, we did enjoy kayaking one day. The owner was very responsive to our questions and the house was clean and had great spaces indoors and outdoors. We appreciated the kayaks, lifejackets and other outdoor games.

Stayed Jul 20, 2025This is the place to go to if you want to have a nice family gathering. The place was clean and it was nice to take the kayaks out on the river. My kiddo loved having his own getaway place in the basement, and it was nice with the upstairs being a family gathering area. A lot of wonderful things are (between 10-30 minutes away). The only knock would be the dogs barking at night, but it was beautiful outside at night with being able to see the stars. Also the Pizza oven outside needs a little TLC. I will definitely be trying to make another stay here potentially next year!

Stayed Nov 27, 2024We enjoyed the house and location. The view of the water is nice and the common area upstairs was comfortable. We found the overall condition to be okay but could use some updating and stocking to better accommodate 12 people. We did not think it was very clean when we arrived.

Stayed Sep 13, 2024Overall, it was a great place to stay. It had plenty of room for an extended family weekend trip. The crab pots and docks made water fun easy. The amount of kayaks and life vests were awesome. We didn’t use the inner tubes, bikes or helmets, but it was nice to see those were an option. The kids loved trying to catch crabs. The basement amenities and large backyard were also fun. The kitchen has everything you need to cook with/utensils wise. The option to bring a dog was super helpful and much appreciated. Something that can’t be helped but should be noted is the almost constant barking from the dog kennel across the water. You can’t see it, but it starts to get old if you are hanging out outside. You can’t hear it inside though, so that’s a plus.

Stayed Aug 12, 2024The house is worn and needs work. There is a serious ant/bug infestation that was evident immediately upon our arrival. There is a sign posted in the kitchen that warns against leaving any food on countertops. The deck is grayed, rickety and splintered and has loose hails/screws. A vine has overgrown the stairs leading down from the deck, making walking them more difficult than they need to be. The linens are old and pilled, there are few hand towels, no wash cloths. Many of the window blinds are broken, the basement game room chairs don’t work. There is no longer a dining table in the kitchen; that was missed. The kitchen itself was well stocked, the crab traps were great fun. I’m trying to find positives. It is peaceful. It’s sad really, the house has so much more potential but seriously needs attention. An exterminator at a minimum.

Stayed Jul 22, 2024Our family of 11 stayed at Rivers Edge for a family vacation all together in one place. We really enjoyed our time there! Having a dock on the river was fun for our nature lovers. We could use the backyard to play cornhole together. The location was nice for checking out areas around the Chesapeake Bay and taking a ferry to Tangier Island for a day excursion. We had plenty of space and having 3.5 bathrooms made it nice with so many of us. Some of us had very little cell service but the wifi helped us not feel completely remote. We appreciated that it was dog friendly, as well! Overall we had a great time and it was perfect for our needs!

Stayed Jun 27, 2024This place was fantastic for our family vacation. Our 6 kids, 3 grandkids, 2 elderly moms, and 2 dogs really had a blast. It was the right blend of entertainment and downtime. It also allowed you to really be able to just sit back and enjoy family time and recharge the mechanism. The morning view with a few cups of coffee on the deck really helped to start the day. The house is spread out enough to be able to find a quiet spot for a bit, or for everyone to gather and hang out and enjoy the GKids being able to just be kids. The yard was big enough for us to play Cornhole, KanJam, and even have a baby pool for the GKids to sit in and enjoy. Unfortunately we were not able to swim in the river (Sloop Creek) because of the Jelly Fish (June-July), but we were able to fish and cool off when needed with the little baby pool tube we brought or stepping inside for a game of pool, darts, or XBox. This house comes with a gas grill/griddle combo that was used every day. It was clean and perfect for everything we cooked for both breakfast and dinner for 13 of us. The kitchen and grill were fully stocked with everything you need from utensils to pots/pans and cutting boards. We ended up adding a small fold up table in the kitchen for all of our snacks. We put it between the wine opening table and the back sliding door to form an L between the 2 tables. Fishing from the dock did not produce as much as we hoped for, but we were able to cast the lines out, let the GKids fish some and we
