First morning discovered apt did not have access to hot water. Over next couple days we noticed how unclean rental was, in addition to having a poorly equipped kitchen. No dish soap, coffee filters, dish rag, pot holders. Pots/pans scorched, several withput handles, scratched & missing Teflon. Spoons/utensils with rust, dull knives, taped knife handles. Dish drainer scummy, rusted scrubbies for dishwashing. Dirty ceiling fans & AC units. Mold/mildew around bathroom sink & window curtain. Leaking water from fridge, adjusting temp caused food in fridge to freeze. Strong gas smell each time we used burner on stove. Oven useless as no baking dishes available. Issues were brought to hosts attention, he arranged cleaning for 2 hrs the following day. Apt somewat better after though kitchen cookware/utensils remained the same. We ended up eating out more than planned, difficult/dangerous to cook due to lack of appropriate supplies. Bed mattress had spring poking up, we switched out mattress from another bed. It was a long month @ this apartment. PROS - large balcony, nearby food stands, combis (vans) came by frequently for transportion ease CONS - noisy street, high traffic area; barking dogs & loud music @ times late into the night Host does not speak English, use of the translator app was of some help communicating our concerns
