Stayed Jan 17, 2026Our host Julio was very communicivate and helpful. Eduardo, the driver took us anywhere we wanted to go, he went above and beyond taking us to a clinic on a Sunday to get antibiotics for strep throat. We had Tona & Alicia every other day to cook for us. They were there from 8:30 - 3:30 and made wonderful Mexican dishes for us. The house is old, but the view makes up for that. It is absolutely stunning. The kitchen, living room, dining room are all outdoors, the bedrooms can be closed off and the ac works pretty well. The master outdoor shower is lovely. Because it's outdoors, there are bugs and geckos. The Chacalacas wake you up every morning with their bird sounds. It is an experience worth experiencing.

Stayed Jul 13, 2023Caro was the best host one could ask for. She was extremely helpful from the beginning to the end & very quick to respond. She really went out of her way to help us plan our way around Zihua and make sure we were comfortable. She also gave us contact info for a cab driver, Sr. Eduardo, who was extremely reliable; he made getting around town seamless. The housekeeper, Sra. Tona, is so kind & takes great care of the home. She & Sra. Kristina made us the most delicious meal of our whole trip (& the competition was tough because all of the food in Zihua is delicious). Don’t miss out on the pescado a la talla & tiritas! The house & the view from it is even more beautiful than the photos. We visited in the summer so it was pretty hot and humid in the home; the pool was a bit too warm to swim in during the day. However, the AC in the rooms worked really well, making it very comfortable to sleep at night. Be ready for some critters, as the house is surrounded by nature. All worth it for what the house has to offer. After experiencing the amazing food, views, and people, we were sad to leave our little paradise in Zihua.

Stayed Mar 7, 2023This house is amazing! We could not have chosen a better place for our once in a lifetime family trip. The ages of our group were 15, 48, 51, 68, & 82. The house could easily accommodate more than double the # of people in our group. The main living area and bathrooms are open concept and this was a fantastic feature for us, but did take some getting used to for the newbie travelers in our group. :) It was wonderful to sit and enjoy the idyllic view from the ample chairs (sun or shade) or from the pool. The bedrooms do completely close to the outdoors and have great screens so the fresh air can be enjoyed, or they seal off completely if the air conditioning is needed. There are fans in every bedroom and all the common areas as well. One feature of note is that there are quite a few stairs going to the downstairs bedrooms. There are not quite as many going to the upstairs master. It is a very tall house. :) The feature that I am most eager to comment on is the kitchen. We provisioned and cooked around 25 meals during our stay. I was unsure if a rental kitchen would have the necessary equipment to cook so extensively. When I inquired about a few specific items, Julio sent me pictures. (He also sent me pictures of the stairs, as I was concerned about my dad's ability to navigate them.) The kitchen truly had everything we needed to cook quite elaborate meals and there is ample equipment, dishes, utensils, & dinnerware for a group of at least 12. The stove is fantastic and even has a nice plancha! The wonderful women that came to take care of the house were fantastic, friendly, thorough, and communicative. They were very patient with my Spanish practice. :) Lastly, I was a little concerned ahead of time about how challenging it might be to hail taxis from this location, but it was not a problem at all. Taxis go by very frequently and there is a business card with the phone # of some reliable taxi drivers that will come and pick up from the house as well. I'm sure there are even more features I could praise about this property, but suffice it to say; it was wonderful and we will be staying again.

Stayed Feb 1, 2023First, the hosts, Julio and Caro are fantastic, and as helpful and accommodating as humanly possible. Second, the housekeeper, Tona, is included in the cost of the rental (although tips are greatly appreciated). She comes every day to clean, do laundry, and help out as needed, and she is a delight! We wanted to take her home with us. And third, the property is perfect: beautiful views, quality furniture and furnishings, lovely high ceilings, most of the staples for cooking, a clean beautiful pool. AC and fans. And the outdoor shower off the master BR is to die for. Cerro del Vigia is a once in a lifetime place.

Stayed Jun 20, 2022We've been coming to Zihua for 6 or 7 years and this house was far and away our favorite accommodations! From the great host communication to the final wave to the caretaker of the property! Simply perfect! We have visited many beach destinations around the world, and Zihua is our favorite - laid back, safe, authentic, and the best food on any beach! The prices in Zihua are much less than other Mexican destinations, too. And we love the low to moderate waves at La Ropa Beach... just perfect. And no seaweed - which is one of my pet peeves of the Yucatan. The house is situated on the south side of Playa La Ropa, high up in the hills. It's our favorite location because of the beautiful sunsets and city lights at night. The house is an open concept in the main living areas - which we enjoyed! Even in the occasional rain storm, it's exciting to be so close to nature throughout the home. You could technically walk to the beach, but for us, a quick and inexpensive taxi each way was well worth it. Our favorite afternoon tradition was to plunge into the beautiful pool after a warm day at the beach... what a treat! The house is 3 levels... the master bedroom on the top floor, and 3 full bedroom w/en suite baths on the lower level plus a nice laundry room. The main level also has a full bath, too. We had 4 adults, and 2 teens, and it was a perfect size for us... with the bunkbeds in the lower level you could easily accommodate more friends. We are dreaming of our next trip down to Zihua and would not hesitate at all to book this house once again! Cheers, Jonah from Colorado
