First time visiting South Dakota and it is beautiful. The cabin was just as published. Very spacious. All the utensils, pot and pans you could ever want. There were even a few spices that were available to use. The owner was very friendly and promptly answered questions after messaging him. The grounds were perfect, quiet, and surrounded by trees. There's a restaurant within walking distance that had very good food. The TV's were very hard to figure out so a how-to sheet would have been nice to have. Also, the thermostat seemed to not be rigged correctly but a quick note to the owner was answered and we figured it out.
I chose this cabin for the central location. Most of the sites are an hour to hour and an half away. Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 does and 3 fawns. All are evening visitors. Next morning there was a flock of turkeys and a peeping Tom marmot. Mel was quick to respond regarding a minor issue and kept us updated on what was going on. The cabin was very comfortable for the 2 of us. Nicely stocked kitchen. The floors were CLEAN walked around barefoot and no black feet.
We had a wonderful reunion with family and friends in this private setting. The cabin is spotless, fully stocked, and is surrounded by woods and wildlife while being centrally located to all the best Black Hills attractions. Thank you Mel!
We loved all the nature. We saw three deer every evening and a Turkey with 9-10 babies. The cabin was just as described and very clean.
Perfect location for UTV riding located amongst some of the best riding in the hills. Mel was great to work with and hope to get the opportunity to stay here again!
Air conditioning is upstairs, a lot of parking, great place to start atv riding. Very clean, property manager great to work with and answer questions!
My friends and I like to vacation in the Black Hills. We always try to find a location where we can hang out, outside. This location was perfect. No next door neighbors. Big firepit outside. Covered porch was great when it was raining! The beds were comfortable. We were 4 adult males and we were all comfortable. Having two bathrooms was excellent as well. The cell service was limited and the wifi was extremely slow but we don't go out there to be on our phones. We love enjoying being outdoors. Stepping off the back porch right into the woods was awesome. We were very happy with this location!
Great location and property right next to Rec Springs on the snow mobile trails. We had a 24 foot trailer and 2 two place snowmobile trailers and had room for parking even with all the snow. Property was great and exactly as described.
My children had a great time in the trees behind the property. Cabin was clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could need!
The cabin was very nice. A great setting We saw lots of turkeys and deer our very first night we will definitely do it again
Cabin is in a great location and enjoyed all the amenities it had to offer. Easy to communicate with owners, hope to rent again in the future!!
The cabin itself is wonderful. The surroundings and seclusion make it even better. Close to all Black Hills attractions and to Lead/Deadwood. The family and I loved the stay. Tom V
This is an adorable cabin convenient to Deadwood, Devils’s Tower, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, and Badlands. Had some questions upon arrival which were immediately addressed by the owner. The cabin has adequate kitchen pots/pans/utensils to prepare meals. The master bed was comfortable. Highly recommend!
Clean, comfortable, plenty of space, great wildlife at night, great place to get in and out with a trailer.
Beautiful cabin. Location was awesome be aware of limited cell service but that is to be expected for being in such a remote location. That is not a negative for the rental just a reality of remote staying. So worth it for the remoteness of the cabin and the wildlife sighting. Would recommend to other travelers for sure. Owner is so communicative and helpful.
We stayed for two nights during a week-long Black Hills adventure. The location is central to so many activities--exploring Spearfish Canyon, Custer, and Deadwood. The property itself is beautiful--wildflowers everywhere, amazing stars at night, and deer sightings every morning and evening. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and grill out! We definitely recommend this property for people traveling through the Black Hills area. Thank you!
Thanks Mel and Marge for providing the perfect Black Hills cabin stay - our nights there exceded all of our expectations! Perfect location, great views, remote yet close to Lead and Deadwood. Our only regret was not planning a full day off from seeing the sites and relaxing more at your place. Thanks again!
Loved the cabin. It was quiet and there were deer and wild turkeys. We enjoyed our stay and would choose it again.
Our stay at the cabin was great. It was nice to have somewhere to go when it was raining, or we were just feeling tired, and still be able to enjoy our time! It's tucked away in a nice little spot where you hear minimal road noise and you would barely know there's campers near by. We saw multiple deer outside the cabin too! Cabin had plenty of room and having two bathrooms and laundry was very nice. We hope to visit again some day.
The cabin itself is awesome but the surrounding environment really makes this place a gem. Plenty of wildlife in the area and not far at all from many Black Hills attractions. We absolutely loved it.
