This is our second stay in this house. We love the house, the property, and the location. Fits our family perfectly!

The home was well outfitted; the large fireplace and access to firewood there was really appreciated. The boat was very responsive to questions about the property or need for minor household items. We loved the quiet setting and places to walk in the woods.

Steps upstairs slippery. Maintenance not kept up in certain areas- leaky sink, washer/ dryer etc

Rental was even better than expected. Kitchen was a great size and fully stocked. The home is clearly loved by its owners and well taken care of. Awesome private lot with a very private feeling. The rooms were comfortable and there were plenty of nice bathrooms and sleeping areas.

Stayed here over a long weekend to meet up with family from Maryland. The house was excellent. Very clean and well stocked. Had all the amenities you need. We really enjoyed the screened in back porch, fire pit, and fireplace. House is very close to Monticello, Mitchie's Tavern, Highland House, and Carer Mountain Orchard.

Host was great. Everything we needed for our stay was provided. Location is perfect for those visiting orchards, wineries and historical homes.

What a beautiful relaxing stay. We enjoyed the property and generous supply of firewood for a cozy bonfire. And, thank you for the bottle of local wine! Yum!

This home in the woods is well-equipped for a comfortable and fun stay. Lots of places inside and out to enjoy. The host offers thoughtful details (toiletries; a bottle of wine to welcome you; a well-equipped kitchen with spices, condiments, etc.) My pet was welcome and she had lots of grass to roam and sniff and deer to see. The house is located in a remote area but still close to Monticello, wineries, orchards, and downtown Charlottesville. We are recommending it to friends and would return if in the area again.

My three sisters and I stayed here for a long weekend. The location is excellent for touring Monticello, wineries and Charlottesville. Large kitchen was well stocked. Great screened in porch with quiet sounds of nature. The house lighting was a little dim for four old ladies but the hot water showers were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. This C is a very hospitable home.

Site had everything we needed to make our stay the perfect place to renew good friendships and relax inside and outside. James was most accommodating and sincerely cared that we would have a wonderful visit. All of us were very happy with this site.

Beautiful home and property in a quiet peaceful setting! Convenient to downtown but in a small, quiet wooded neighborhood, which we really enjoyed. Lots of deer in the mornings. We had a perfect stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Lovely place and a great getaway after a full day of touring Charlottesville

We came to the area to take my folks to Monticello, UVA, and do some wine tasting. Everything was as advertised. We spent a lot of time on the screened in back porch in the evenings. If you have elderly people or individuals with mobility the steps could be difficult for them otherwise everything was great!

We needed a place suitable for my wife and I as well as our kids' families, where we had a 2 year old, 1 year old and a 4 month old. This place offered space for everyone. The house was clean and the grounds very interesting. Loved the fact that the kitchen was stocked with simple things like paper towels, spices and refigerated condiments. Justin was quick to respond to our messages via the Vrbo app. We would stay here again.

This home is immaculate. It is located in a wooded area that is quiet and restful. The property is close to Monticello and James Monroe Highland. Also just a short drive to downtown Charlottesville. Perfect property to bring your dog. Lots of room inside and out. We would return the next time we travel this way.

Beautiful acreage and home with lots of great space for sitting, talking, or game playing. The screened in porch was my personal favorite; it was perfect for us.

We stayed in this lovely retreat while in Charlottesville for UVA's graduation. The house truly feels like home. Clean, cozy, private, well-equipped. We relaxed on the screened porch while visiting with family and listening to the frogs in the pond below. The property is beautiful and secluded, but convenient to everything. The owner was communicative and easy to work with. We highly recommend this home and would happily rent again!

This beautiful home in the woods, just a short drive from the center of Charlottesville, provides the perfect base to enjoy the local area. Restaurants, historical attractions and wineries. The beds are comfy, the kitchen well-equipped, the porch heavenly, and the amenities up-to-date. Four mature women could not find a single thing to gripe about during their four-night stay in April.

This was a perfect house for our group (Mom, sister, niece, and me). We were celebrating Mom's birthday and wanted a great house to spend time together with fun activities nearby. Charlottesville area was perfect. We enjoyed cooking, playing games at the dining room table, and wine on the screened in porch (beautiful woods/grounds to enjoy - very quiet and peaceful). Beds were comfy and shower was great (shared bath only one I used). Monticello and Michie Tavern (go!) were right down the street and downtown Charlottesville just 20 minutes away. James was quick to respond with any questions we had. We would come back to this house in a heartbeat.

We stayed for my daughter’s bachelorette weekend at the wineries. This house is gorgeous! Hands down. It is clean, well stocked, convenient, and the property is amazing!James is great at communicating with you. There was a bad storm while we were there and he took care of the internet being down and was quick to any questions.

Great location very convenient to the President’s homes (we visited all three). Shopping and restaurants are 15 minutes. The grounds of the house are wonderful - lots of birds for naturalists. Well-stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Highly recommended. James was very responsive to any questions

The property is beautiful and well-kept, inside and out. There is a warm feel to the home, with family photos and wonderful decor. The outdoor bonfire area and outdoor lighting, along with view of the secluded woods was also amazing. The host communicates well and is very hospitable. We recommend this place 100%! This house was just right for getting together with friends (six of us in all). We'd graduated from UVA about 50 years ago, so we enjoyed revisiting Charlottesville and the grounds of the university. It was good to have 3 bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was perfect for a few cooks at a time. The grounds were also beautiful--nothing like the Charlottesville area in April!

We enjoyed our stay. The house and property are lovely and as advertised. This was a great quiet spot to relax with family but close enough to get back and forth to Charlottesville for a sporting event and activities. Nothing extra was needed. We had no issues during our stay.

Lovely home on an incredibly scenic property. The house was very nicely appointed, with comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, and a well stocked kitchen. There were six of us, and there were plenty of places to sit and spread out, or to gather for a board game. We also enjoyed walking the horse trails behind the house. We would absurdly stay again.

I loved everything about this property-the location close to my favorite places, Monticello and wineries, the quiet privacy of the setting, the coziness of the interior. A wonderful Charlottesville hideaway that gives you quick access to all amenities but the seclusion of the woods.

What a beautiful little place to retreat to for some quiet and relaxation. The home is tucked back in the woods with deer that came to visit us every morning. The home had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The convenience to everything nearby was great. Thank you James for the opportunity to stay at your beautiful home!

This is our second time renting this home for Thanksgiving. Good location, with lots of acreage for the grandkids to explore and have fun. Home is nicely appointed. The property manager is very responsive.

We highly recommend this home. It is clean; well- maintained; the kitchen is sufficiently equipped for cooking; and the location is far enough away to be peaceful, yet close enough to still enjoy Charlottesville, UVA, wineries, etc... James is a great host we found him to be very attentive to any questions that we had.

Driving the roads to this home and seeing it surrounded by this beautifully landscaped property-I felt as though I was returning home to the lodge. We were charmed by the back screened in deck with the ceiling fan and spent most of our free time there. The homestead was a short drive to all things Charlottesville--historical, shopping, vitaculture, enology, educational excellence--it's all within reach. James has multiple up to date pamphlets about the area. James was so patient and kind with us as and very accommodating as we recovered from some illnesses as well as jet lag (two guests had just flown in from Europe. The rooms were generous sizes and very comfortable beds. The kitchen was immaculate and plenty of high-quality cooking pans. Loved the Lodge cast iron and it fit perfectly with the house. We will be back!

The stay was just what we needed. The location is excellent and the house and grounds are wonderful. It is a very relaxing space and the outdoor space is used well and very thoughtfully designed. A great find!
