Please feel free to message us with any questions. We also live nearby if anything is needed.

As guests, you will have the whole house to yourselves. Southwest Harbor is one of the most beautiful towns in Maine and is located right in the heart of Acadia National Park. Watch beautiful sunrises or sunsets over the ocean, hike world-class trails, visit a sand beach, kayak on a tree-lined lake, eat at a classic Maine lobster shack - there are so many amazing adventures on Mount Desert Island!

Summer only: The house is within walking distance of the Island Explorer bus system's route 7 (Southwest Harbor). The Manset town dock stop in Southwest Harbor is half a mile away and is the closest bus stop. This is an island-wide, free bus system that carries passengers and bikes to various destinations. The bus will stop at any safe location along its route across all of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.

The house is easy access to the following as well: just over one mile from downtown Southwest Harbor, less than one mile from Cable Crossing Road, less than two miles to Seawall Picnic Area and Beach, three miles to the oceanfront, family friendly hikes of Wonderland and Ship Harbor, and approximately four miles to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Additionally, the house is a 20 minute drive through the heart of Acadia National Park to downtown Bar Harbor.

There is a locked off storage shed with a separate locked entrance on the left side of the house. This is the only space not for guest usage.

And again, please use caution on the steep staircase going to or from the loft bedroom.

Thank you!

Loved my stay at Poet's Cabin! The cabin was adorable, clean and cozy. It's even nicely decorated outside so you're charmed at first sight. The owners were fantastic and responsive, even when I arrived late at night, and provided a detailed guide to the area, tips and recommendations, as well as a heads up on a local event that affected local roads/travel. I only wish I could have stayed longer! If I return to the area, Poet's Cabin will be my first pick.

Cozy cabin in very quiet neighborhood just outside of Southwest harbor. Hosts provide great info on local hikes, restaurants, etc. Stairs to upper bedroom are indeed steep as advertised but sleeper sofa on ground level is very comfortable. Outdoor firepit perfect way to finish the day. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay! Fresh flowers, a note, some sweet treats AND a bucket of ready-made ice- what more could one ask for on arrival?Perhaps some poems? Very cozy place with all the amenities needed. Front porch was a wonderful extension of the space. Bed was super comfortable. Sleeper couch was perfect (no dang bar). We explored the quiet side of Acadia and especially enjoyed the use of the provided paddle boards on Long Lake. Our last morning we woke up at 3am to hike Cadillac Mtn. Visit was too short - need to book again!

Staying at the Poet's Cabin was a fantastic way to explore Acadia. From the thorough communication, to the ideal location, to the amenities, I would recommend Poet's Cabin to anyone. It was the highlight of our mother/daughter trip. We can't wait to come up again!

Our stay at Poet’s Cabin was perfect. It was far enough away from the business of Bar Harbor but close enough that we could drive over quickly and eat, shop, and do touristy things. The cabin was cozy and relaxing. So many great hiking trails around. The food recommendations from the owner were spot on! The wildlife around the cabin were fun to watch! We saw a lot of deer and wild turkeys.

Adorable tiny home cabin! Perfect spot because you can get to so many things. Peepers and the fire crackling at night, along with hiking around Acadia National Park, made this a perfect experience. So glad to get away from reality for a couple days and just enjoy nature and good company.

The proximity to the Acadia national park drew us in, but this little cabin is absolutely adorable- once you get used to the stairs! Perfect for a couple’s getaway or a lonesome traveling poet seeking inspiration and adventure

We had a wonderful stay at the Poet's cabin. It is a nice little place for visiting the Acadia National Park area. It also has a very good sitting area outside and the hosts are very helpful and welcoming! The only issue is that the door opening to the bathroom is very low (I'm 6'2 and hit my head multiple times on the top of the door frame), and the shower is very small. The home is exactly as advertised and a great place to stay, but wanted any other taller people to be aware before booking.

It was a first time visiting Acadia, and it was very nice to escape the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and the park visitors to the secluded quiet side of the island. Absolutely everything you would want or need was provided by the hosts. Never had a single problem. Saw some deer visiting the property. It was a very comfortable and quiet stay just as we had wanted.

This tiny house had it all! Very efficient and comfy! We cooked, used the grill, and the fire pit for s’mores. We also rode the 3 bikes and took the cooler with us for our drinks. Perfect place for two peeps but we were fine with our 23 year old daughter on the sleep sofa! Highly recommend! Our hosts thought of everything. Their attention was in the details! Thank you

We had a wonderful time at the Poets Cabin. Perfect location for our adventures in Acadia National park. Was so nice to come home every evening to a quiet and restful place. Carra snd Sean were perfect hosts; everything was as listed and better! So much to do! Did not have a chance to take advantage of all the property has to offer! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome cabin with us! Should our travels find us back in Acadia, we will surely revisit! Highly recommend this property!!

The cabin is close to Acadia National Park in Manset. It is very cozy inside and out. The bedroom, in particular, is nice and cozy and a great retreat after a long day of hiking. The kitchen is also very well equipped, and we were able to cook great meals. There are little signs everywhere explaining how everything works. That was very helpful. The selection of books and games is also great. Outside, there are nice seating areas and a fire pit. If you look out of the window early, there is a chance to see wildlife. We saw deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, and many different birds. It is simply beautiful there and very relaxing. We hiked the suggested trails and were very impressed by the diversity and beauty of nature.
