Petit Retreat: The sweetest place on the Lake!

We just had a long weekend in February 2026 and the house is very cute...it would have been much better in the summer...I would say its time for a new bed downstairs for sure... and pillows...it was still fun and warm winter weekend!!!

The host was very thorough, the amenities were exceptional, and the views were fantastic. We are looking forward to returning in the summer. Best Mike & Evelyn

Great location for hike, bike and wine. Very quiet and great views from the lake decks.

The house was as described. Centrally located to many activities. Very safe neighborhood.

Our stay at Petit Retreat was absolutely wonderful. The house had everything we needed, and the views of the lake were simply extraordinary…especially the sunrises, which were breathtaking to wake up to each morning. The location was perfect for exploring the area, and it was peaceful and relaxing when we wanted to just stay in. We also loved having nice places nearby to walk our dog. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, making it feel like a true home away from home. We would definitely love to return!

Great place, beautiful view and quiet. Some basic seasonings would have been nice (salt/pepper) and some of the information needs to be updated. The brochures were out of date and I think the calendar on the fridge was from 2022. Would definitely return, though.

I enjoyed the retreat with my two sisters. We spent our time cooking and chatting on the delightful multi-level decks. The kitchen was well supplied and there’s a small grocery store just up the road if you need to pick up anything. We loved our stay and would love to stay there again.

Property is quality. You will be amazed with all the giant waterfalls in an hour range. The dock on the property, while nice and useful, only sits in about 2-3 feet of water so there is definitely no jumping or diving off. Unfortunately, while Cayuga Lake is pretty to see from the home, if you're planning on swimming expect tons of seaweed to go through. Water is clean though.

Such a peaceful getaway property on the lake. The balcony overlooking the water was my favorite spot. My legs got a good workout from all the stairs, other than that the place was clean, fully stocked with small supplies, games and plenty of indoor and outdoor chairs to choose from. We had a very nice time enjoying the water while site seeing all the nearby wineries.

It was very nice! Location was perfect! The only thing was the kitchen didn’t have some things that most rentals have.

We loved our stay here! It is a small home but how much space is actually needed to sit, relax, and just enjoy the water?! We were created with gifts for us and our pooch. The home was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of linens for my husband and I. We enjoyed the location immensely! We are definitely coming back! The only constructive feedback we have is to tidy up the windowsills on the backside of the house. Th widows in the three season room are dirty and difficult to use, and the windows on the backside of the house for the upstairs deck where the table is were pretty filthy, like they had just been forgotten when the rest of the home was cleaned.

Petit Retreat is an excellent lake house for 2. Well decorated for lake life, bright and cheery. Very clean and well appointed with every thing you may need including 2 kayaks and life vests. The 2 outdoor decks are very nice especially to watch sunrises and the sunroom off of the lower bedroom is also well appointed and nice for inclement days. The only downfall is the steps to the lower bed/bath. Duck and go slow! Overall, excellent.

We absolutely love this house! It was the perfect size for our three person family. The air-conditioning were great, the window blinds were great to block the morning sun, the stove, microwave, and coffee pot all worked great! We got a little welcome bag that had everything we need to get us started like a sponge, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper. The deck and patio were fantastic! The yard furniture was very comfortable and perfect for our stay.

What a cute bungalow on Lake Cayuga. Loved the views and location. Updated amenities with a lovely kitchen, baths and seating area. We loved sitting on the lower level sun room. The only negative was the stairs to the lower level which were very steep and tight. However, everything else was perfect!

The house was perfect. It was the perfect size for my family and our dog. I’d absolutely recommend this property!

My family (me, husband, 7 yo, 9 yo, dog) stayed at Petit Retreat for an extended weekend (6/14-6/17). The property is adorable. Perfect size for us! The kitchen is well equipped. I made breakfast each day and cooked dinner once. They had everything I needed. Heads up that it gets very warm, very quickly inside when using the oven. We used the grill and it worked (unlike many other rentals we’ve done over the years). Some info we received said to bring linens/towels but all those items were present for us. We did bring beach towels and are glad we did. The location is perfect! Our sons literally ran right to the dock on arrival and dropped lines. They spent a LOT of their time there and caught fish within 10 minutes of starting. We used the kayaks as well and they loved that! I didn’t do 5 stars on cleanliness for minor issues. The coffee pot was literally reading that it needed to be cleaned and inside the water reservoir there was a thick layer of scum. There were a lot of gnats (to be expected when staying on a lake) but the dead ones were layered on windowsills, the kitchen chairs and other areas. Our kids found a full beer can on the porch on arrival day. Ultimately minor issues and attributed to cleaning staff, not the home or home owners. Property management said late check out was possible and to call before check in to be sure, upon calling we were told that was basically impossible to ever do. Big discrepancy on their end as late check out was very important to us.
