Stayed Jul 8, 2025Very nice and clean. Comfotable bed and well-appointed kitchen. My only issue is the steep stairs and bathroom not on same floor as bedroom (it is an old house afterall). If i were spry, it would be perfect! Hosts were great, very responsive. THANK YOU

Stayed Jun 27, 2025Our stay at Dani and Paul’s Lockmaster House was excellent. Communication and booking processes were seamless and the property is located in the quaint town of Newboro close to all the local attractions and waterfront activities of the Rideau Lakes system. The home is very quaint and we loved the historical charm of the property. While located near a fairly busy road, there were no issues with road noise and evenings were delightful sitting on the deck watching the fireflies with the rustling of the wind in the nearby trees. The home also smells absolutely amazing from the wonderful soap shop located on the ground floor below. The property is well-maintained and has all the necessary amenities. Both Dani and Paul were wonderful hosts and provided us with a great experience. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a very nice and affordable property close to all the outdoor activities nearby. We would love to come back!

Stayed Jun 13, 2025Dani was an amazing host. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. The home was private, rustic, exactly as advertised and met all our needs. Fun to be in an historic building. Do check out the soap shop the aromas and great handmade products will draw you in. Site was close to where we were visiting family so it worked out perfectly. So glad we could bring our dog she’s family too.

Stayed Aug 3, 2024We had a lovely weekend away at Dani and Paul’s place. The bed was very comfortable and the house was outfitted in a charming way. We also had a nice visit with Dani downstairs in the shop and purchased some nice soaps! A notepad/book with info like the wifi password would be helpful for guests as we had to call and leave a voicemail for that info. Some things added to the kitchen (eg. flat baking sheet) would also be helpful, and there was no dish soap provided. Overall we had a great time and the price was unbeatable!

Stayed Jul 11, 2024This property was a perfect place for me to stay in the Rideau Lakes. Only 10 minutes from Portland and easy drives to other cottage and fishing hot spots. Great location in the sleepy town of Newboro which has easy access to restaurants, hikes and local shops including Dani’s own handmade soaps below the Lockmaster house. I highly recommend this accommodation for its excellent location, many amenities, and super-friendly and helpful hosts. I would definitely stay here again. Scott

Stayed Jun 13, 2024Easy access to the cottage from the main road. Perfect size one bedroom for a couple. Great deck to relax on. It was special to stay in a historical building with modern upgrades (A/C, shower, new windows, etc). Would love to visit again. Owners are helpful and easy to communicate with. Beautiful area with so much to explore.
