Your front door opens to Sea Ranch's 50 miles of trails and the wild Sonoma Coast.

The Space:

You'll be within steps of the most belovedbeach in Sea Ranch at this four-bedroom home, an oceanfront escape with views of the water, a private deck and hot tub, and nearby access to community swimming pools, tennis courts, and saunas.

Bovill on Shell Beach is a family vacation home of over 40 years, located in a quiet neighborhood, where neighbors are respected and where Sea Ranch regulations are always followed. It's not the place to come for blaring music or loud games but rather a place to enjoy the pristine beauty of the North Pacific Coast and the multitude of recreational activities at the Sea Ranch, in the surrounding communities, and on the coast.

Dramatically situated on the bluffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean, this single-level home sits directly above the tidepools and sandy shores of Shell Beach. You'll be only a few steps from the Bluff Trail; two miles south of the outdoor pool, tennis courts, and saunas at the Del Mar Recreation Center; and five miles south of the markets and restaurants in downtown Gualala.

Comfortable, plush, and full of quintessential Sea Ranch charm, this home is the perfect getaway for families, groups of friends, or couples in search of romance and relaxation. Step inside to find a light-filled living area with natural wood ceilings, a soft sectional sofa, and a wall of windows that frame the open ocean.

Come home from an afternoon walk on the Bluff Trail to curl up with a novel in the cushioned window seat, set up a board game at the large dining table, or gather around one of two gas fireplaces (in the living room and master bedroom).

Wake up each morning to grind your own coffee beans, whip up some homemade pancake batter, and read the newspaper outside on the ocean-facing deck. Back inside, the gourmet kitchen offers stainless steel appliances, green marble countertops, and a dishwasher to take care of the plates and glasses.

Leave dinner bubbling away in the slow cooker and head down to Shell Beach for a morning of wiffle ball and tidepooling. Come lunchtime, rinse off the salt in the spacious tiled shower (which is accessible from outside), light the gas grill for an afternoon barbecue, and sit down to eat with a panoramic view of the ocean.

In search of a bit more peace and quiet Retreat to the sheltered interior courtyard to relax in the sunshine or play a game of cards among the strawberry plants and calla lilies. You can also grab your bathing suits and towels from the washer/dryer and soak in the soothing warmth of the private hot tub.

With four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, this Sea Ranch home will accommodate the whole family. Watch spectacular sunsets on the deck before retreating to the master suite, which features a king-size bed, a private fireplace and flatscreen TV, and an attached bathroom with a tub and a shower. The second bedroom offers a queen-size bed among the bookshelves, while the third and fourth bedrooms have a queen-size bed and two twin beds, respectively.

And although the Sea Ranch community has only sparse cell phone service, a landline phone is available for your ease and convenience.

As one of the best-kept secrets of the Northern California Coast, Sea Ranch offers a glimpse of the region in its incredible, untouched glory. Follow the Bluff Trail to reach Stengel Beach and Walk On Beach, make a morning tee time at the cypress-lined Sea Ranch Golf Links three miles north, or spend your days swimming and practicing your backhand at the Del Mar Recreation Center. Along the way, you'll find incredible cliffs and rock formations, as well as the best pizza in the area at Upper Crust Pizzeria in downtown Gualala.

Your unforgettable trip to Sea Ranch begins today -

The Neighborhood:

Welcome to The Sea Ranch -- ten miles of rugged Sonoma coastline where modern architecture and wild nature exist in harmony. Getting Around:

Other Things to Note:

Create a tranquil iPhone soundtrack for the sound dock stereo system, use the WiFi to plan your next hike, or watch a DVD, Blu-ray, or cable movie on the wall-mounted flatscreen TV.

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.

Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.

Whale watching season runs from December through April -- grab the binoculars and watch for gray whale spouts from your window. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.

We’ve been visiting Sea Ranch every year since the 90s and this house has the best unobstructed Ocean View. It also has a really big dining room table. Perfect for a large group and comfy furniture. we will be back again.

Very nice location, however, the house is run down. Water heater broke, kitchen faucet broke, window screens missing or bent (hard to cool off the solar gain or hear birds chirp, dining chairs badly need padding, cobwebs abundant inside and out. Cover on the Hottub broken (hit me on my way out!) Dish washer top each broken and unusable. Garbage inconvenient in that you have to unlock the Bear Door and pull the can out of its little house. I'm 6'4 and use to be a linebacker and it was tricky for me. I also bumped my head in the process. I'd say 10k of replaced items, proper cleaning routine would make this place worth the price or even more! Can't beat the location. Oh, the staff at Vacasa was not friendly and I made a simple request and they seemed put upon and I'm a very nice guy. After the fourth call to repair something I kind of gave up. This trip was just a few days with a son before we go to Europe for the summer.. so I didn't appreciate the repair distractions. I'd like about 1000 back for the issues. Thanks, Steve Jakosa PS Dust everywhere

Great stay at the Bovill! Cozy place with a beautiful view! It was a bit of a hassle to park with just two parking passes and not being allowed to park in the driveway but besides that it was a wonderful place to relax and unwind. :)

This house idyllic in its location. Right next to a beautiful cove. Access to wonderful hiking and vistas. The house itself had anything we needed for extensive dinners and just lounging around. A truly wonderful experience.

The house is just as advertised, right on the ocean with sweeping views. And for our stay in cold January, the heating works very well and both gas fireplaces put out nice heat. Hot tub also clean and warm. The decor and interiors could use some updating...but other than that a very nice house.

Lots of animal neighbors including foxes, deer, quail, black oystercatchers, harbor seals, and even humpback whales. The view is astonishing even at night with so many stars and the milky way. The house is comfy and cozy; the deck is such a great spot for gathering, and the hot tub was enjoyed by all. The hikes and beaches nearby are easy and rewarding.

We were able to enjoy the beach/ocean views from the house windows and from 2 patios. The large garden entrance with hot tub was relaxing. The property was enclosed by a fence and felt very secure and safe. Mostly we loved sitting on the deck, watching the ocean and wild life and walking along the coast and observing the changing ocean views.

The home is quite welcoming, with many touches to make guests comfortable. One of its charms is the paintings on the walls, which were made by someone in the owner's family. The kitchen is very well equipped (it even has excellent knives!). The dining room table can hold a crowd with ease. We also ate meals on the deck, where we could watch the waves breaking. The living room sectional is plush and soft (so soft that it takes some doing to get out of it!) and faces a gas fireplace that can be lit with the touch of a button. Future guests should note that there are two stairs up to the bedrooms and two stairs down to the living room. (They have railings.) There are spectacular views of the ocean from the living room/dining room and the master bedroom. The hot tub offers relaxation at all times of the day and night. The beach is a short walk away, and there's a trail along the bluff above the beach. It was exciting to see seals feeding and pelicans diving. It was a joy to be there.

This was our first time here, our group loved being in this house and waking up to the beach, and falling asleep to the beach. The beach is a short 10 minute walk about the neighborhood to get down to the water. Beautiful hot tub, and clean towels. The master bed is super comfortable. We have basics to cook pasta, and breakfast. Local shore shell store 10 minute drive.

We loved everything about our stay at the Bovill house! The view was incredible and you’re just steps from the beach. We have two young kids and the space was perfect for the four of us. Plenty of space to spread out and relax. This place is a gorgeous retreat and well worth it! We didn’t want to leave.
