Summary:

A short trail through the wildflowers connects your front door to the bluffs and the Pacific. Bring your pup -- dogs love the bluff trails here. Curl up by the fireplace as fog rolls in off the Pacific. Room for 7 in this 3-bedroom home. Just a 7-minute walk to the heated community pool. Trails, tidepools, and two heated community pools -- all within reach. The rugged Sonoma coastline unfolds from the deck -- raw, dramatic, and endlessly watchable.

The Space:>
Breathe in the fresh ocean air at this three-bedroom Sea Ranch retreat—a charming escape with two decks, ocean views, and shared recreation amenities just a short walk away: outdoor pools, tennis courts, and saunas. Take a breathtaking walk on the oceanfront Bluff Trail two blocks south, tee off at the Sea Ranch Golf Links one mile north, and pick up groceries and peruse the eclectic art galleries in downtown Gualala three miles north.

Where the exterior was designed to resemble a country barn, the interior is full of warm, natural woods, stainless steel appliances, and large windows that frame the ocean and meadows. This is the only home in Sea Ranch with its own apple tree—enjoy fresh apples in summer straight from the branch. Ease into the day with a soak in the jetted tub, bring your coffee outside to one of the furnished decks, and take sunset strolls to Walk On Beach before preparing dinner in the elegant open kitchen.

Come and discover the wild coastal beauty of Sea Ranch - book today!

Getting Around:

This home sits on the west side of Highway 1, just around the corner from an outdoor heated pool, saunas, and two tennis courts at the Del Mar Recreation Center. Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa is the nearest airport, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential for exploring the area.

Other Things to Note:

You can even use the free WiFi as you relax by the fire.

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.

Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.

Keep your eyes on the horizon from December to April -- gray whales migrate just offshore, and this property has a front-row seat. Visit in spring and the meadows explode with wildflowers. April through June is peak bloom season along the Sonoma Coast. The warmest months are June through September. Expect coastal fog most mornings that gives way to sunny afternoons.

Up to 1 dog are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash on trails and clean up after them. This is the only home in Sea Ranch with an apple tree — enjoy fresh apples in the summer!

This home was large, light-filled, and pet and family friendly. The kids movie/games/reading room was a big hit. Right across the street from the Del Mar pool, tennis courts, and community center amenities. Parking/access pass must be picked up in Gualala. There is a pest issue in the kitchen, which is posted and at least partially being addressed. Some more traps are needed and small repairs to kitchen and primary bath sinks. Otherwise a lovely home in the unique Sea Ranch area.

Beautiful place to visit, we had a wonderful time. Had everything we needed in the house. It was lovely being able to sit back and watch our kids play outside!

We spent a week in The Barn. First the positive things: proximity to the recreation center (if you use that); plenty of kids toys and games, so if you come with a bunch of kids, this place is accommodating; the soaking tub is nice; dog friendly aspect is appreciated; architecture is interesting; both decks are sunny and the deck furniture is comfortable; the living room wood stove is nice and there's plenty of firewood. Now the negative aspects: housekeeping could have done a much better job--there were dirty bowls in the drawers, refrigerator handles were sticky with residue, balls of pet hair behind the living room couch; master bedroom windows toward the ocean do not open--only the side window opens and it lets in highway noise; master bedroom gas fireplace does not operate; the adult bikes are not maintained and are dangerous to ride; the house location is line of sight to the highway and traffic noise is constant (this is clearly shown on the map so it's not an unknown negative aspect, only a heads up); DVD player was broken and Vacasa advised us to operate it with a butter knife; thermostat operation is frustrating and weird; there was no place at all to store food, so we had to store food on the counter and during the night the mice ate holes in our food containers so we had to throw it away--Vacasa advised us to store food in cupboards as a solution; mattress in second bedroom slopes steeply into the center of the bed. For these reasons, we will not be returning to The Barn.

The house was a good option for a group with small children. We had hoped for a hot tub but the outdoor tub was ahave been an interesting substitution. Although the house is near the ocean it is a bit of a trek to get to th e beach but the tennis courts and pool are very close.

This house has a good location and layout. The decks are great and there are lots of things for kids to do. There are several bikes in the garage for use too. The kitchen has all the items you will need. Our biggest complaint was that the bedrooms did not have blinds on the windows, so it's an early morning wake-up.

Lovely coastline . Quiet and relaxing. The barn needs some general maintenance but has basics, And lots of games, bikes, and fun stuff in the garage. Great for a family. Major problem… many Windows don’t open… Such a shame in the beautiful ocean environment. They should be repaired. Toilets keep running and kitchen faucet is like a shower. Needs a bit of tlc .

The house is lovely and spacious. It was very clean upon our arrival (no sign of any ants, as mentioned in other reviews). Very peaceful decks on two sides of the house, to enjoy the morning and afternoon sun. The garage is very well equipped with lots of activities for kids (full size table tennis, various balls and bikes etc). Some of the bedrooms windows were missing blinds, so we tried to fix an old blind we found in a cupboard and tried hanging sheets over the windows, with varying success. Fixing little things like this are quick and easy and would make a difference to the stay. Overall, it's a lovely property and we recommend it.
