PROPERTY AMENITIES

-- Wood-burning fireplace

COMMUNITY AMENITIES (at Sea Ranch recreation centers)

-- Tennis and pickleball courts (at rec centers)

-- Miles of coastal bluff trails

Guest Access:

This is your private retreat for the duration of your stay -- full run of the house. The private hot tub is available around the clock -- no reservation needed. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.

The Neighborhood:

Take morning walks to explore the tidepools and watch for seals at Shell Beach less than a mile south, and spend your afternoons enjoying the heated outdoor pool, saunas, and tennis courts at the Del Mar Recreation Center one mile north. Stock up in Gualala, just 10 minutes south, where you'll find grocery stores, restaurants, a hardware store, and gas. Bodega Bay is a beautiful drive for fresh seafood.

Getting Around:

Plan for a 2.5-hour drive from San Francisco (Highway 101 to Highway 1). If flying, Santa Rosa's Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) is the closest option at about 90 minutes east. You'll want a car here -- the winding coastal roads are half the adventure.

Other Things to Note:

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.

Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.

Keep your eyes on the horizon from December to April -- gray whales migrate just offshore, and this property has a front-row seat. Visit in spring and the meadows explode with wildflowers. April through June is peak bloom season along the Sonoma Coast. The warmest months are June through September. Expect coastal fog most mornings that gives way to sunny afternoons.

Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.

As the architect for the house I am, of course a bit prejudiced, but of all the houses I have ever designed this one is right at the top of the list as a favorite. The house, now 50 years old, has stood the test of time.

The house was incredibly well appointed. I’m a cook so renting homes can be hit or miss. Total hit! Had it all. Everything was clean and comfortable for our reunion with our grown children. Provided space for everyone to be together and alone when desired. Hot tub was perfection.

Spacious and comfortable. Beautiful whitewater views and easy trail access. Lots of room to roam with wind-sheltered deck and hot tub. Kitchen is a little tight and the oven and range are not super responsive to temp changes so plan meals accordingly. No ice maker and no ice trays in the freezer(?) We had to buy ice. Otherwise a well-stocked kitchen. Beautiful fireplace and lots of firewood available. Home is nicely tucked away behind other homes so feels very private.

We had a great stay at rolling waves. It was our second time staying there and it was super easy to book, check in and check out. The floor in the living space changed from the last time we were there from carpet to polished concrete, which was easy to clean and warm from the in floor heating. We will be back to enjoy more of the incredible view from the living room and hot tub!

The is lovely and beautiful decorated. The views and location are perfect but the cleaning crew did not do a good job. Unfortunately the garage outside was over flowing and there was a few other items which should have been addressed.

The location of this home can't be beat -- it's private but also right near the bluff trail and beach, and central on the ranch. The home itself is beautiful architecturally but needs some updating. The windows are non-functional, the heating upstairs didn't work, and the kitchen isn't super well provisioned with cooking implements, etc. Just a bit dated and you can tell it's a rental, but it's spacious, and has rustic charm with a wonderful location.

Pros: House Layout, Location, proximity to trail, easy trip to grocery store. Stunning ocean view from living room with wildlife walking by. Cons: at the per night, by the time you ad on ‘Fees’ , ‘Service Fee’ and Tax , your nightly rate is greatly increased. I had read the Reviews about the house needing updating: bathroom faucets are installed backwards, windows that are not operable and will not open, broken and non-functional vertical blinds, etc. A review from July 2021 mentioned these things and upon further reading, I saw that on Sept 2019, a full two years ago, another renter brought up all these same issues with this response: Host’s response: Hi, Veronica! Thank you for leaving your review with us. The owners were the next occupants after your stay, and they inspected and took care of everything from your comments. We look forward to seeing you again! Here is my ‘Visitor Response’: NONE OF THE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED. For this price range per night, this rental is definitely sub-par. Patio furniture is poor quality, plastic stackable variety. Broken toilet tank lid in bathroom upstairs, sliding door on shower does not slide so you have to shimmy around the toilet to get in. Window blind facing the walking trail is broken so you cannot close it in the upstairs bedroom. Assuming that this house had the necessary repairs 2 years ago as stated, I rented it, and was willing to pay the high nightly rate for a special occasion celebration with family. Owners need to truthfully state the condition of the property and/or reduce the price while the repairs are being made. With a check in time of 4pm, and a check out time of 10am, you are losing a lot of time at the resort; again, not worth the nightly rate. We have rented dozens of VRBO properties all over the world and this property was NOT accurately presented in the listing. Very disappointed in the property management company representing this property.

This house is truly one of the best we've rented in Sea Ranch in over 15 years of coming every summer. Having a home office was really helpful for our group, as we were in the house for 2 weeks and needed to dial into the occasional meeting and keep up with our offices. Both of the larger bedrooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed, and the beds were really comfy. I would note though that the small bedroom on the ground floor is *really* small. It would be very tight for adults to share, and there's almost no spot to put personal belongings. Luckily we had kids in that room so we made it work. There are loads of great books to borrow, and my kids played the house chess game almost nonstop. The home could use some basic maintenance on windows, blinds, appliances. We were unable to open the big windows in the dining/living room as the handles are not functional, and the blinds were also in need of repair. As mentioned in other reviews, all the bathroom faucets are installed backwards, and at least the shower upstairs has hot and cold mismarked. I reported these issues to the local Vacasa staff and they were very responsive and helpful. Overall a big thumbs up and would have been completely perfect with some fairly straightforward repairs.
