Some history of the home and area that has made Tamarisk voted in the top 10 neighborhoods in America:

The home was originally built and designed for the famous pilot turned real estate developer, Charles Cash in 1966-1967 who chose this unique El Rancho design for mid-century modern living. After the Marx brothers completed the architecture and design of Tamarisk Country Club, and the estates that line the world class golf course, they sold lots and homesites with a new slogan open membership which meant you wouldn't be automatically denied membership into this private club, unlike all the others in the area. Membership was instead granted to all who wanted to join, and could pay the fees, and was another pioneer in the area that no longer would patrons be treated unequal or active open prejudice tolerated. Tamarisk being the first in the area was a true reflection of what was going on in the USA during the civil rights movement, equality to all, leading to the advancement of culture and country. It send a clear message to racists and anti-semites, that it was a new era, and everyone would be treated equally at this club, private or not. It's no wonder Tamarisk quickly became a hit, and was widely known among the Hollywood elite, as the place to go as the parties and festivities were second to none! The land directly East of Tamarisk Country Club Golf Course and Estates was purchased and developed by the well known Annenberg family, patriarch Walter H. and matriarch Leonore, who were hailed as media giants owning several newspaper, radio stations and television stations, and are credited to bringing all 3 to the Palm Springs area and surrounding cities like Rancho Mirage. Walter H. Annenberg also served as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom and is known for advancing philanthropy and encouraging other wealthy people of the time, to also give to the less fortunate, a lesson and motto that has sadly almost disappeared in today's climate. Although not publicized, both Walter and Leonore were arguably the most generous of all, understood the true meaning of bing a philanthropist, and gave hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars of their hard earned fortune, to the poor, the needy and otherwise, while building countless libraries, museums and other civic facilities as they knew giving back to their communities was part of the deal. California and specifically Rancho Mirage, were very lucky to have these incredibly generous family, declare this area for their iconic Sunnylands resort. Every US President since the 1950's, their Cabinet members and spouses, foreign leaders and dignitaries from around the world as well as Royal Families from around the world have stayed at the Sunnlyands Compound which still hosts many high profile guests today. The Frank Sinatra compound is situated between Tamarisk County Club and Sunnylands to the South and West, and Mission Hills Country Club and golf resort is located just to the North. The Marx Brothers who started this movement, sold the remaining undeveloped, last parcel (which is where this home is located) to acclaimed aviation icon and voice of the time, Charles Cash, who like many who reach the pinnacle of their careers, transition their talents into Real Estate. Cash purchased the last parcel in the area, developing these mid-century modern homes thoughtfully designed on three streets in Tamarisk Heights: Chappell, Sun Valley and Cobb, all built in the mid-1960s.

    This house is EXTREMELY clean and comfortable with nice furnishings. We used heated pool/spa every day, along with walking the beautiful, friendly neighborhood. My husband golfed at Tamarisk CC and loved it. The home is in a perfect location, we could easily visit/host friends in nearby Mission Hills CC, The Springs CC and The Islands CC, all within a short distance. Loved visiting Gelson's for fresh, top-quality groceries too. Great house to have friends over for wine time and spa in the evenings! I had everything needed in the kitchen to prepare wonderful meals too. Both the owner and the property manager responded immediately to anything we needed or questions we had, we felt like they really went above and beyond to treat us with the utmost respect and catered to our every need. Oh, and Brian the PM didn't make me feel stupid or old when I couldn't figure out the remotes to the TV haha, he was very patient and kind each time I bugged him. Such a sunny, well appointed, CLEAN home, I wouldn't even think twice about renting the house again next spring. We got to know some of the neighbors out on our morning and evening walks, all very nice, friendly people, including a famous celeb who has a house down the street, introduced herself to me on one of my morning walks?! I was like Yes, I KNOW who you are, I watch your TV show every morning! This would not happen in the Hamptons, trust me. Prices a bit high,but for us, totally worth it for the cleanliness & safety!

    Home is cozy and well designed with fabulous, authentic mid-century modern furnishings. Huge modern kitchen with upgraded appliances, everything felt fresh, clean and comfortable. The owner even had the windows cleaned during our stay! Robert has thought of everything, kitchen is fully equipped with every detail well thought out. Several seating areas outside too with amazing views of the surrounding mountains, which happened to be snow capped this time of year. Owner and property manager were easy to reach with any questions, both were so welcoming and kind, the hospitality was exceptional! Conveniently located to everything, including Gelson's and all the best restaurants and shopping on El Paseo. My husband and I loved the neighborhood, it was quiet & relaxing with lots of friendly neighbors walking and riding bikes. We walked every morning with our coffee and rode bicycles in the evening. Close to the Tamarisk Country Club too where we golfed and met friends for lunch a couple times. I would HIGHLY recommend this house to everyone, absolutely the best!
